New Rare for 4.3!

Noah slipped one in on us! I wonder if there's any others hiding out there that he managed to slip in.

I am deeply, deeply ashamed that I didn't find this. I'm usually such a searcher on the PTR.... I shall now commit Hara Kiri.

I tried taking him down myself, just to see what he drops (at level 87, he's not tameable so I don't feel guilty about it.... really, I don't.... I don't... I don't...). He hits for a whoooooole heck of a lot, even on my fully tank-specced turtle. Got him down 1m before he ate Panzer.

Tried with a healer. At 50% he frenzied, and poor Panzer got et again. Fortunately I was able to FD, get Panzer back up, taunt him off the healer, and she was a little more healing-attentive. We managed to take him down, and he dropped Chimerook Tenderloin x17 for me as well as a Battered Scale grey.



He's... big. Be a fun tame at level.

EDIT: OHMYGODHESPAWNEDONTOPOFME. *faint* Okay, that was scary. Once I peeled myself off the floor (IRL, not in game - he didn't hit me, though he aggroed immediately), I noted the spot he spawned on my map:



That's at the north end of the (relatively) little area he hangs out in.

Watching him fly around is a mix between King Krush pathing (awkward turns, but he's so big and graceful in his other movements that you can't help but stop and stare for a while) and seeing Brumeran for the first time - before the nerf to her size.

I will add this: no mob with that many hps has any right not being marked as elite! Sneaky bugger.

Okay, that's really neat. I'd always hoped that those large, empty fields and areas between zones could host a few rarespawns or pets.
I love his title. XD I was sad to see the chimaerok's disappear when their island was flooded, good to know one survived it. I may have to go and rescue this beautiful guy once I am able to.

What a wonderful tribute to Lord Lakmaeran! I wonder if this might be his son.

I fully agree Moonlost, I've always thought that empty gaps between zones should have hidden mobs here and there, just for the thrill of discovery and excitement from stumbling upon one in such a remote location.

Killed him at around 9 o'clock, maybe a little later. Logged in at 1:55 to check, and he's up again. So this big boy's spawn timer is apparently 5 hours or less!

Well that renews my faith a little. I have always thought that not hiding little things like this around the world was a huge missed opportunity. I would love to see more of this type of thing... Give people a reason to explore! Maybe secret temporary vendors that sell special limited time items, rare pet spawns, hidden caves BEHIND waterfalls, etc.

As a huntress who has Lord Lakmaeran, I was torn up by the Isle of Dread's disappearance, so this made my jaw drop when I saw the screenshots. I'm so happy that one survived after all, and I also believe that this is Lakmaeran's son. Once Mists of Pandaria goes live, I plan on taming him (or trying to, at least) so he'll have a nice home with his father.

I'm glad to see one survived and I feel bad for the poor fellow all alone up there. Hopefully in MoP, he will be tameable so he can get some company.

Cae and I went to visit him just now, he's so majestic! We watched him pat around and ran away in fear each time we accidentally got too close. That lightning breath hurts!

After a while I felt like I had to attempt the challenge of facing him in battle. Iggy and I went and though it was REALLY tough during the Frenzy, I managed to get him down. It was an intense fight, and very fun to solo.

I haven't tried him yet. Can his lightning buff be dispelled? I see it has a cooldown and disappears for a short time before he renews it but I haven't had time to try him out yet. Maybe if someone can keep removing the buffs form him he'd be easier.

If you're a completionist and want the chimaerok chops flagged as one of the foods you've eaten then at least it's now possible As long as you know someone with the recipe at least.

The shield or the debuff he puts on players? The shield on him is definitely dispellable and I'm fairly certain that the DoT he puts on players can be as well...but wouldn't swear to the latter, as it was late!

In this case I suspect maybe not. He's the last of a group of chimaeras that were blue or brown. While I know a number of beasts got new colours in Cataclysm, the chimaeroks are all dead so it's too late. The blue is a fitting tribute colour for him, in memory of them all.

In this case I suspect maybe not. He's the last of a group of chimaeras that were blue or brown. While I know a number of beasts got new colours in Cataclysm, the chimaeroks are all dead so it's too late. The blue is a fitting tribute colour for him, in memory of them all.

*nod* I think it's very fitting for him to be the model that he is, and I doubt they'd change him. If they introduce new chimaera models they'll have plenty of opportunity to use them elsewhere, this guy deserves to be a nod to the past.

What I found interesting is that Wowhead has the Chimaerok Tenderloin as no longer in-game, yet when I killed him he dropped 18x.

Well, it *wasn't* in-game. .... up until this point. They need to change it. Fortunately, I have my Wowhead client running, so at the very least they'll get my kill.

That's the same skin as the ones in NR & winterspring right? Does he drop loot or is it just 25 gold?
