I'm sorry. I don't know what's worse. Knowing they're doing it or being surprised. I remember when my mom texted me at lunch when I was at school that she had our old cat put to sleep. I had known it was coming, but it was so sudden that I burst into tears in the middle of lunch.
It hurts. And I'm sorry, I'm honestly hoping that your dog will pull through. *hugs.*
My grandmother is absolutely in love with our dog, and gave us a thousand dollars for more blood transfusions. While that only pays for two transfusions, it still gives Emily a chance.

I think being surprised about it would be worse, personally, though both options are very sad. It's never pleasant to know that you might have to put a beloved friend down and never see them again. I'm terrified of the day it comes for my cat.
Lupis, that's fantastic that your grandma did that. Here's to hoping Emily will make it; or at least have a better fighting chance.

It's amazing how much our pets can affect us, they really are our best friends at times- keep us updated, we're all hoping for the best.
Took Emily home today. She seemed a lot better at first, though she's back to being very lethargic now. Hopefully the meds we got and her blood transfusions will help her out.
Im so sorry Lupis. Thats such a tough thing to go through.. Shes crossing the Rainbow Bridge right now though and she wont be in pain any longer. She was loved and such a beautiful dog.. Really so lovely <3 My thoughts and prayers(if you want them) are with you and your family during your time of grief. May Emily roam forever pain free and wait for you to join her once again and may you nver forget how much she loved you.
It will hurt for a very long time, but please take comfort in the fact that you gave her the best chances you could and you <3'ed her so very much. More than anything, just remember that you where just as special to her as she was to you, always will be.
