Feralclaw's Mount Journal: Shiny Dragons and Proto Drakes!

I rarely type here, I like to read. But your story reminds me of my hunt for the TLPD. I started my camp 1 month after LK release. I would spend alot of time in storm peaks and finding TLPD dead on average about once a week. One time 3 times in one week. I always seem to find it dead after I came back from work and log on to find it dead under me, or when I first logged on in the morning to find it dead under me. I took breaks for up to a week or 2 a time so I didnt go insane lol. But in truth I was going mad inside. Id dream of getting it and wake up sad. I saw a fellow guild member get the mount by accident only months into LK expansion (he flew into it and it dismounted him. His pet took agro and he killed it. He had no idea what he killed till he looted it. He never used the mount till I got mine). My hunt for this mount didnt end for me till this year, during a few days into the halloween festival I went on the hunt after a 2 week break. I was flying around (as I dont like sitting still) and as I reached Bors breath it was there flying towards me. Heart beating I raced to it and tagged it about 2 seconds before person behind me. I remember shaking for a while after. I was soo happy that I never gave up. And Im telling you NEVER GIVE UP. Took me from January 2009 - October 2011. Thats nearly 3 years. That was more painful than my 417 runs of stratholm for baron mount. One day this mount will be yours. Just keep going. Remember breaks from time to time, but NEVER give up:) And heres alot of Good Luck to you.

I can't take breaks. No matter what anyone says, I can't. I go into total paranoia that someone will take my spot and get it a day after I leave, thus causing me to have nervous breakdowns.
On a happier and friendlier note, thank you for all of the good luck, and I'm happy that all was well for you in the end.

Feral, it's must be so sad and so painful for people like you - days, months, years spetn in SP.

You know, on my realm there was a guy camping TLPD for 2,5 years. He saw it 13 times dead, twice tagged a second too late, and killed Vyra over 100 times... He killed it 3 weeks ago.

Feral, I used to not be able to take breaks. But there comes a point where your family, your health, you guild, whatever..takes priority over a drake.
So what if it spawns when you're not there. Don't live your life like this, mate. At least in my three month camp, I took healthy breaks, I stepped away from the computer..and even towards the end, I stepped away when the botter showed up and Aeonaxx finally showed.
Don't put everything into this protodrake, I'm begging you. I've been where you are, I no-lifed Aeonaxx for a solid month and a half before my husband pulled me back into reality. Go for a walk, do something to take even a ten minute break. Don't let the paranoia take over, please.

This. It might seem like a great idea to not have to take breaks from camping but it really isn't, Feral. :/ You have to remember to take breaks, for your health and sanity.

Indeed, please take everyone's advice here Feral and don't put your heart and soul into camping, because you only come out of it one way and it's never anything good. :/ Just camp when you feel like it, and don't when you get that "ugh, chore" feeling. Just as Nili said - so what if it spawns when you're not there. That wasn't your time. It's much better to calmly camp something and then who knows, the stars may align and your moment of happiness will be within reach. Just don't beat yourself down with it. I'm really, really hoping for you that you get this mount. Truly. :/

I agree please dont stress yourself out so much. Take your time, do things you like to do and do casual checks. If there are times when you feel like camping, park yourself at a spawn point have the sound up really high and go and watch a movie, or draw, or read a book. Casual fly bys do work great at times. I was just about to give up when I decided to just go there to chill out and camp while eating lunch tabbed back in to being punched by the drake Ive wanted for so long so it will happen! Dont give up hope but please dont lose your mind camping for him, he will come and when he does it will make it sooo soo much sweeter (I almost cried when I got him compared to Aeonaxx who I stumbled on and thought "SWEET!!!" the long camp makes it all worth whiled when you get him )

I agree with all of the above ..if need be take a break Feral, in the end a bunch of colored pixels aren't worth your health, relationships or sanity

You will get him soon enough, TLPD will always be there.

I just want to say, before I started typing, there were tears in my eyes. Right after I started typing this, I began to cry. I'm frustrated and stressed and ... nevermind. Thank you for all of the support, to all of you, honestly. I don't really know how to word this ... I need some time to think.

Aw Feral... You seem stressed about this. I really think you need to take a break for a bit if you aren't already! I'm being serious though when I say that, if I could ever afford it, I would totally move over to your server and help you camp him. I couldn't right now even if I wanted to though... unless you don't mind a level 70 trying to help!

Didn't camp at all today! I gave Naharnak and Feralclaw new looks, plus I got Naharnak his Kor'Kran Annihilator. =) I got a picture of Naharnak, the Annihilator, and Loque in front of Orgrimmar. =D I feel great.
