I think him being awake was just a visual glitch only I could see. He always had the "zzzz"s over his head and the bubble coming from his mouth as he stood there.

I came up with a kiting method using my pet, Mend Pet, and Feign Death, and it was so very successful that Veph, Kalli and I took Madexx on a grand adventure! :D Details over this way~
