Your character is flagged for a rename.

On Friday I faction/server changed my level 80 rogue, making him a worgen - I had a level 41 rogue on that server whom I deleted right before renaming my lvl 80 one because I wanted to have the same name (Rensis). I've done this several times before without a hitch. Upon renaming him, I tried to log in as him, and got a little window popping up saying "Your character has been flagged for a rename" with a little space to put in your new name. I'm pretty sure Rensis is only taken by me on Kirin Tor - I even looked him up on the armory, and sure enough, he's a level 80 worgen rogue that hasn't logged in.

So I put a ticket in on Friday. While waiting I looked up this problem online and found that it's a bug that can happen whenever you faction/server change a character - several people have had this happen. Well, at least it's a known issue.

I got my GM response today, and they said they reset the character - I should be able to log in. So I tried to, and I still get the rename prompt. >.<

Put in another ticket saying I still can't log into Rensis. I hope they can fix it, because I love that name, and it's so hard to find names that are available!

Just a heads up that this can happen... and mostly I just needed to vent!

Ah, I have seen that happen to a guildie once. It will get sorted, I think. He actually showed as the name he wanted in /g, but to him it showed as the place-holder name he had to take instead.

Just got another GM email - they finally reset my character's name and I was able to log in. So happy I didn't have to wait days for a response this time AND looking forward to finally being able to play my rogue again!
