I really enjoy reading all your reasons for and againts. Its something that i think blizzard should do once in a while (no idea if they do it or not), just so they maybe could change some of the things that ppl are unhappy about. I know its hard to please everyone, but when i read through this post, i sence a sort of togetherness (made up word) - not at all like the mad ramblings i sometimes come acrous on the the wow forum.

Keep comming with your thougths. I really enjoy reading about it, and it also helps a bit to know that other have this sort of ambivalent feeling about wow :)

The trouble is, what makes some people unhappy makes others happy.

That and some things that make people unhappy are things that Blizz can't fix. They couldn't make my old guildmates stop being cliquish. LFG may have helped the side problem ("I can't get my Kara key quest done."), but things still may have soured on me as the guild and myself changed.

Reason I'm still playing: Friends. I owe it to my guild since I've grown close to them. I can't just up and quit on a whim. I'd feel like a, excuse the language, but an asshole if I did. Most of them pretty much have already left for ToR and a few more (including myself) will be quitting for Guild Wars 2. Second reason is my sub doesn't run out till March.

Reasons why I'm going to quit: Got a few.

1. I no longer agree with the direction WoW's taking. I currently have a low opinion of MoP that's unlikely to change. Now before anyone who may or may not go after me for that, I don't really care for it anymore. I'm not paying attention to any of the updates and won't likely anytime soon.

2. WoW is just burnt out of me. I used to have fun with it, but most days I find myself loitering in Org or just flying around in circles since I'm bored. I still raid and pvp, but it's no longer fulfilling to me anymore. I'm just...bored with it. Sure I could roll another toon or an Alliance toon, but at the end of the day, it's still the same game.

I'm very likely quitting for GW2. That game has a high appeal to me. ToR didn't really since I'm not a big Star Wars fan, but yeah. I'm not going to be a WoW player for much longer.

NEW SIGNATURE PENDING... SOON.

Mostly for the little things and for the people. There was a time the Petopians guild felt like a family, when I needed it most, and I'll always look back fondly on that. I still have some friends I made there and I met my other half thru that guild. For that reason, it will always be special for me no matter if its my home anymore or not :) I also love all the "boring" little things like fishing, archeology, collecting minipets, doing random silly things with my friends and just generally unwinding.

Y'know, while the main reasons like PVP and dungeons are big things to like, what keeps me playing are the small things and the people. I love sitting there and fishing. I fished up ALL the Dalaran coins, just 'cause.

I don't play WoW anymore and I don't have a lot of really set reasons as to why I don't play. I've toyed with the idea of reactivating my account but I realize I wouldn't have anyone to play with and I wouldn't really have fun. Unfortunately, I compare my time in WoW with what it USED to be for me in pre-BC. I had lots of drama but I also had SO much fun with the guild I used to be with. I quit WoW for years to focus on school and work but then came back so pretty much nothing. I had my old characters but it wasn't the same. Then I found Miraga and started having a blast and collecting pets. A few years after that, I just sort of stopped. Leveling can be quite a chore for me, which is why I only have 2 level 85's, lol. I don't really connect with my characters anymore so I don't really feel like there's any point to playing anymore. I don't have friends who play anymore and I've yet to find a guild I can be really super attached to. I feel like it's just time for me to move on. I'll really miss my hunter and her pets but the fun is over now. Dailies are just a chore and leveling is something I feel like I've done enough. It really doesn't help that MoP looks terrible to me. It's fine that other people like it and I'm glad WoW is something that others find to be fun! MoP just isn't something I'm interested in so restarting my account would just be a waste of time (and money! lol) because I'm not going to be buying MoP.

I've recently started playing SWTOR and I like it. It's new and something to do. My boyfriend is max level and he's making a character we can play together. I'm not able to play it now, as my laptop is just TERRIBLE, but when I move in with him I'll have an actual desktop I can use to play games. :)

Anyway, that was pretty long, lol. I guess overall I just want to move on. I won't pay for a game I don't enjoy anymore and, now that I'm out of college, I plan on getting a job and hope I don't have too much time for games anyway!

Why I've been playing continuously since year 1: developing my various toons in small and large ways but 99% of which are all solo-oriented, e.g. raising skill X to try for minipet Y, solo grinding dungeons / 5+ man content from the last xpac in the current xpac's greens, accumulating transmog sets...

Addon programming. This is something I enjoy, and I still do it sporadically as I think of things that seem useful. For example I use a self-maintained copy of EmoteReply, and have it set to echo back nasty emotes from random idiots - last night someone snuck past it using one of the emotes from 3.0, and I had to go find the new emotes (which aren't included in most of the lists online) and code them into my addon. Some hate programming, but I love it. ^ ^

Collecting hunter pets used to be a big draw for me, but now that I've gotten most that I wanted, and can accessorize my other classes thanks to transmogging, that has faded to the background for now. I'll probably go after a few more here and there as they add them to the game, but that particular niche is largely saturated for me.

Why I might someday quit: offhand I doubt I ever will, but if hunters do end up using ranged weapons in melee come 5.0, then I may turn to GW2 for my hunter fix, and focusing more on my other classes back in wow... I'll have to see how it goes though - pet talent respecs may be sufficient to offset this, etc...

I'm still as hooked on this game as I was was when a friend first introduced me to it. I adore the graphics (I've always enjoyed the more 'cartoon' style and could never get into the other MMOs that try so hard for 'realism', it just ends up looking a bit off to me). Other than that, I enjoy the lore, the addons, and the ever-expanding world. :)

FIXED :-P

~Anywho, I haven't played wow in 2 months up until last night, where i stumbled upon these things called "Private Servers". I signed up on one of the bigger ones and really love it. Its in WOTLK right before the Cata-shattering patch. Its fun, its mindless, its 12x money and exp, and its really interesting playing with Mana pools, 20 second tame cast time, feeding my pet to keep them happy, 5 pets to choose from, and 51ish point talent trees :-O Talk about first-hand awkward nostalgia.

Plus its Free to play :)

I won't be going because (a) there's no Mac version, and I refuse to have to run Windows for a game; and (b) I'm not enough into Star Wars to really want to do that. However, a fantasy MMORPG with a Mac client might pique my interest, though I doubt I'd drop WoW for it.

I've been playing continuously since I discovered it, back in March 2005. It's had some awful low points, like 4.0-4.2 heroics and the year of Icecrown, but I have always found things to do that are engaging. Professions, exploring, roleplaying, pets, mounts, alts, retro raids, daily quests.

Even though graphically the game is kinda clunky, and the story in the game flip-flops wildly in quality and consistency, the huge variety of environments and creatures and lore keeps me involved too.

just found one mroe reason to stay :D

The raid finder.. to me this is perfect, i have been in there with both druid and hunter and still have zero clue what to do (cept shoot some colored blubs) and i havent died!! Not so much tactics appeal to me, and i dont have to be in a raid guild.. this to me, is perfirct :D
