So, today in guild chat, we had an interesting discussion stem once I hit my level 40 achievement on my druid. I'm doing an interesting challenge which works very will with a druid, since it offers alternatives which let you still access all content... I'm not going to train riding (or if I'm forced to in order to use flying in some zones, I won't learn ANY mounts).
My hunter I'm doing a challenge as well, just a taming theme, but I'm not going to tame ANY animal until I can also have a matching mini pet. And not just similar, but same skin/colour scheme, with a few allowances, like for the turtles for example.
After playing this game for so long, even with all the world changes brought with cataclysm, I'm finding that challenges can really help put an entirely knew spin on the game.
So far, some challenges we were able to come up with (credited where I remember who came up with them.. some were collaborative, etc).
One thought was trying to hit level 85 without doing ANY damage to anything. Pretty standard, and relatively easy now with exp from gathering and archaeology.
Another was to level without going into any town (possibly simplifying that to any "full" town with an inn and everything). The challenge with this would be to find a class with a suitable trainer that would be accessible while meeting that. Though, could be combined with one of the below ones...
Another, suggested by Nug, and one I'd actually thought of myself, was to level to 85 without visiting a trainer. Would have to do before MoP hit, since they're making abilities automatically required...
Another by Nug would be to not spend a single talent point.
Another by Nug was to level without using any gear better than greens.
I thought too.. I wonder how capable someone could be in just straight up vendor gear. Never equipping ANYTHING that can't be bought straight off a vendor. If you wanted a real challenge, you could limit that to non-rep vendors... since some rep gear is actually pretty good. Would probably take skill though.. A lot of skill.. cause you'd only have base stat pretty much all the way up to 85...
Anyone able to come up with any other interesting challenges? I'm thinking that most alts I make at this point will have SOME kind of challenge. Even if it's just a minor one, like a taming restriction, it definitely adds a new dimension to the game after playing for as long as I have.

I mentioned this one, as I had heard of people doing that back in Morrowind.CrystalKitten wrote:Another was to level without going into any town (possibly simplifying that to any "full" town with an inn and everything). How about doing Lore Master during the process of leveling? As in, each zone would have to be done at an appropriate level. This would require turning XP off and on strategically. Oh wait--you wanted challenges that made it More interesting.
