Deth'tilac solo

Last night I managed to solo tame Deth'tilac on my Draenei hunter. On other hunters (yeah, I have two others...), my BF had helped me tame Deth on his druid by spamming roots, but I'd never attempted it on my own. I figured I'd give it a whirl with the whole frost/snake trap, disengage, rez pet and pray method. I was at it for about an hour and lost count of how many times I died. It was easy enough to get into a rhythm, but I had a ton of issues with Deth evading on me if I got too far out of range. My other issues were the random spiders that hang around the spire... Occasionally I'd get into aggro range of one of 'em... and then Deth would evade while I was getting the other spiders off me. -_-;

Finally, my BF gave me a suggestion that was infinitely helpful -- if you spec into Entrapment in the SV tree, you get an extra 4 seconds because the frost and snake traps will temporarily root. I swapped from BM to my SV offspec, shuffled some points around in Stormwind, came back and got Deth on the first try after respeccing. After cutting my pet-rezzes really close previously, it felt like I had all the time in the world to get distance while he was rooted. And it felt very easy... just needed a little bit of concentration and creative kiting.

I named him Golen, which (according to some website I found) is Russian for 'leg.' My little Draenei's pets all have seemingly 'exotic' names, but are really simplistic words in Russian or Eastern European languages. Hee hee.

Grats on your tame. Deth is unquestionably beautiful and totally bad ass! Though he comes second to my Aranea (Anthriss) he is perfect on my baby hunter alt. I love him!

Congrats! Deth is my favorite of the lava-spiders, I think. Her coloration is absolutely beautiful.

Thanks much! He is now one of my go-to pets when doing my dailies around the Molten Front. I'm still amazed I was able to solo him, since I know he's a beast. O_o; (But it can be done! Woo!) I've had more issues with Kirix than I did with Deth.
