Is the pet abondom macro junk now?
Is the pet abondom macro garbadge now i was wondering if they fixed it were it doesn't wprk anymore?
Re: Is the pet abondom macro junk now?
It's not working anymore.
Re: Is the pet abondom macro junk now?
Yup it doesn't work anymore and I'm kind of pleased they fixed it because it was just too easy to tame with pet abandon. On the other hand if you want a challenge the kill/rez method still works. This is the REAL way to tame pets with buffs and I can only encourage blizzard to implement this style of tame into the game.

Re: Is the pet abondom macro junk now?
The idea behind the kill/revive method is that you time your tame to correspond to the same time as the pet dying (generally from something like serpent sting or immo trap), and right as it's about to die and your tame is about to go off, you start spamming revive pet. I'm not sure if you're supposed to log out right away and then back in, or if you're supposed to try and tame another pet regularly first to test if it worked.Kiantia wrote:KiLL/Rez MeThOd?labnotes wrote:Yup it doesn't work anymore and I'm kind of pleased they fixed it because it was just too easy to tame with pet abandon. From all the posts I read about the abandon macro, most people have failed. Congrats on your tame! Is there anything you can offer to the public on getting the abandon macro to work? Much appreciated.Litlemouse wrote:...what? The Abandon Macro worked for me a couple of days ago... it just took like 1000 tries... hmm...

I was trying it on the burning crabs in the badlands and it didn't seem to work, though I realized I hadn't summoned/dismissed an existing pet a few tries before I gave up.
Good to know it still works, it's probably a matter of timing and luck now more than ever.

Re: Is the pet abondom macro junk now?
I spent HOURS, and I mean HOURS trying it. To be sure, when exactly was this bug 'fixed'?
Btw, this only worked on Princess (the boar). I couldn't get it to work on anything else :/ may be just luck though.

EDITED: The List of "Buff" Pets No Longer Obtainable
Above is a list of pets that were fixed and will not keep their buffs after tame.
The abandon macro never worked for me, even after many many tries.
Kill/Rez method is the REAL way in taming pets with buffs. There are only a few pets that still keep their buffs after 4.2 update.

READ ALL OF THIS PLEASE READ ALL OF IT AS THERE IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION IN ORDER FOR THIS TO WORK
<
Well the Abandon Pet Macro has really always been junk to those who do not have timing addons. The only script to tame some of these pets is:
/cast Revive Pet [nocasting]
THIS STILL WORKS!!!!
>THIS IS NOTHING NEW I KNOW THIS SO DO NOT QUOTE ME SAYING "This isn't new. Whats your point?" THIS GOES OUT TO THE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS!<
What this does is it will cast Revive Pet when you aren't casting/channeling any abilities. There for making it about 98% more accurate than the Pet-Abandon Macro Script. I never and I mean NEVER got the Pet Abandon script to work for me: But this works like a charm (You have to spam it just like the Pet-Abandon Macro): I got my Ghostpaw Alpha (Ghost Form active) within 4 tries after months of failed attempts with the Pet Abandon Script. This works with ANY pet situation, even the pets buffs that fade on death.
HERE IS HOW IT WORKS
1. Create a macro that says:
#showtooltip Revive Pet
/cast Revive Pet [nocasting]
2. Find the appearance buff pet you want to tame
3. Find a friend that knows how the routine works: If you don't know the routine, keep reading:
4. Spam your new macro during Tame Beast
5. Profit
5a. ROUTINE:
Depending on the pet: Such as the Ghostpaw Alpha -- you will need to DPS it down to get it to turn into a Ghost Wolf form and tame beast and the macro.
(Usually you have to remove all gear to not instantly kill it IF it is a DPS-Down-Activation Buff) Otherwise: Just use Tame Beast and Spam the Macro.
THE MOST IMPORTANT PART: Bring a friend to KILL IT and 0-1 second left on Tame Beast. This requires accurate timing on their part and yours. He or She can kill the pet but you may have not spammed the macro fast enough, or he(she) didn't kill the pet fast enough but the macro was being spammed. So it will take a few attempts if you and your friend aren't masters at it but you will get it.
GL and happy hunting!

Re: Is the pet abondom macro junk now?
I'm not sure why everyone insists that this doesn't work, I used this macro to tame 2 pets recently. The boar with the bow, and the crab holding a bottle in it's pincher. I got them both easily within 1-5 tames, so maybe some people are just using the wrong stadegy? I wish I could list mine but it was a couple months ago and I can't really remember x.x maybe I'll try to recreate it later

Re: Is the pet abondom macro junk now?
I for do not like the macro as it makes it to random spamming macro puts revive pet on a global cd and missing the spot where you should be using it
Re: Is the pet abondom macro junk now?
I can't get the macro to work
My friend and I both have the oil covered wolf on our hunters on staghelm. Since our guild moved to stormrage for raiding and progression and we didn't have the funds to move the hunters along with our mains, we both re-rolled.
2 weeks ago we did the same thing for his hunter and with me on my warrior and got it. Now that we are trying to do this today for my hunter with his mage and with his hunter doing the kill, it's not working. We also tried getting is low and then having him raptor strike to kill it, since that doesn't have any travel time like a spell or a shot would take. Every time, it either tames or dies regularly. We thought maybe his timing is not as good as mine, so we switched just to test with him taming on his hunter and me on my warrior doing the kill. We tried a bunch of wolves to no avail, I would either hit them after they are tamed, or they would die, never disappear. We then tried some fledgelings and got them to disappear (with me killing, him taming) but they don't come out oil covered and we did probably 10-15 like this.
Did they finally fix it?
I really hope not, I will cry if I don't get my oily wolf back again
I'm using this macro (though I've heard you don't need to use it)
/cast [nochanneling] Revive Pet (if thats mispelled, it's spelled right in my actual macro)
We've tried both ways, with and without macros. I'm at a loss, is there any way check/verify... anyone have any good suggestions for me? I'm so at a loss

I would say it would be your timing i got it on my horde hunter but still trying on my alliance.
All i can say is keep trying it took me about an hour with my friend and good luck.
