Not at all Nili, both sides are still stating their views. I'm with you! :)
I just feel that because I disagreed with this thread that people tried to demean my opinions and put me in the whiner category. Which I am not. I don't whine, I call things when they're bullshit and some people don't like that. I'm just generally upset that at the very last moment they changed the beta and the annual pass contract. I know I cannot do anything, nor would I. Beta doesn't mean that much to me, afterall. I had hoped to be one of the first and find out some things on my own, that's all. /shrug

No one is saying you can't be annoyed. How in the world would we stop you? We are just saying that logically speaking, if you are just a little patient, you will get what you want. It has not even been 48 hours.

No one is saying you have to "agree or die" but some of us do not agree with what you are upset about. We offered responses to show why we did not agree. No one is saying you cannot be mad, but we are attempting to show good reasons not to be mad and just to be patient. I am willing to bet money that you will get your Beta invite shortly; within a week or less is my guess.

However people are making it seem that we are stupid for being upset. It might not be direct, but its there.

We understand how its working, but they still mislead us overall. I am a bit miffed.

Well I can say the same for you. Some of the posts here are making it seem we are stupid for not being upset too. It's going BOTH ways.

If you want to argue the semantics of that further, then you need to take your issues up with Blizzard, not us.

By signing up to use one of Blizzard's products you also sign a ToS that allows them to change things on a whim depending on how they think it will best suit the game and their company.
Before it went live means nothing when it was done months after hundreds of thousands of customers signed a contract with them. It was posted after the fact for every single person who signed that contract. That is a fact not semantics. I never made a legal argument. My entire perspective is from a customer service stand point. The botched it big time and as a result have a lot of pissed off a whole bunch of customers. I'm stating my opinion. In a WoW forum. On a relevant thread. If you don't wish to discuss it further you are free to stop responding to my posts.

The point is Blizzard did not mislead you. You mislead yourselves. You assumed because of a wording that it would happen this way, and now you are upset that it did not.

Am I saying Blizzard did not use "lawyer talk"? Nope. However, Blizzard always has. It is always best to take things with a grain of salt.

You will get exactly what you were promised. On their terms. Not yours. The way it has always been. You agreed to it being on their terms when you clicked "accept".

Is it sometimes annoying? Yes, but it is not "bullshit". It is not a "lie". And it is not "false advertising".

It is a business running things as businesses do. Blizzard is not unique in this. They are not trying to "screw" anyone over. They are just trying to do it in the way that works best.

I, honestly, didn't get that vibe from EITHER side.

I mean, I know emotions are running high and all, but maybe we're being a smidge sensitive? I didn't see anyone using loaded terms until "stupid" came out.

*deep breath!*

Actually, I'm fine. I'm not riled one way or the other.

I never said you were stupid for not being upset, I'm more saying Its annoying that people are telling us we are stupid for being so because such and such info was here there and everywhere.

Show me where I am implying that I was calling you guys stupid. c:

I also did not say bullshit/lie/false advertising. Nor did I say they were trying to screw people over, I am stating they took advantage of wording to mislead people. So yes, because they weren't more specific, they did mislead me. Even if I had a hand in it, they still started that train of thought with how they said it. o:

My main issue is that people seem to give no budge at all, you cannot be allowed to think otherwise and if you do its all your fault. Kinda shitty. -shrug-

At this point, this thread is just being a stupid back and forth, I'm not changing my views on this and you obviously aren't either. Off I go.

I'd also like to say that text does not carry emotion well, I'm not super pissy or upset. Rather calm actually! :)

I did not say you said that. I am sorry if I implied that you did.

But the terms "screwing", "false advertising" etc. came up several times. My fault for not being more specific in my post, Meggers, sorry. I know you did not say that, but some others had.

As I said, yes, I acknowledge they used "lawyer talk", but they still never promised anything. Only access to Beta at some point when it was Live. If they had said "Access to the first wave of invites", I would agree with you more. However, they were very careful not to, and that alone told me that I would probably be waiting a bit.

The only thing I'm saying is just be a little patient is all. You will get what you want soon. Maybe not as soon as you want, but soon!

I think this is at the heart of the disagreement between both sides. I don't think that I assumed or expected anything other than what was reasonable because I assumed nothing more than what was advertised and stated by Blizzard through it's employees and advertising. I find posting the FAQ months after the fact misleading. As well as not disclosing that they were going to be inviting in stages or that certain people, even within the Annual Pass holders, would take priority over others. None of this was in the contract that I signed and, IMO, in the interest of full disclosure it should have been.

There are always two sides to an issue and with a community as large as the WoW players differences of opinion are pretty much a guaranteed.... apparently a much more solid guaranteed that the 'early beta access' was, lol. I can debate an issue without resorting to personal attacks or having negative feelings towards someone who disagrees with me on a given issue and I appreciate everyone in this thread who has done the same. Even if you don't agree with me! :D

Totally. I'm not upset at anyone and I do not think anyone is "dumb" over it. Could Blizzard have done it differently, of course? Hindsight is always perfect.

However, to be honest, they probably did not even know how they were going to do it until recently. Which is why I do not think they mislead. I think they just had to do some testing and figure out the best way to make Beta work. That's all.

Agreeing to disagree is fine. <3 I hope everyone gets their Beta within the next few days and is soon having a blast and posting screenshots. :D

And <3 to Galaxy as well. I busted out laughing when he said that!

I'm actually a bit surprised at all the fuss. To be honest, even though the beta was my main reason for signing up, I never expected to be among the first to get in. I always assumed that it would go in waves as always. The thought that everybody would get in at the same time didn't even occure to me.

That said, looking at it now, I can certainly understand why other people had different expectations. And I also agree that Blizzard made a mistake in being needlessly vague. I say needlessly because I doubt they ever planned on letting everybody in at once (as has been explained, this simply wouldn't work). So Blizzard really could've been clear about the "entering in waves"-part from the get go.

But I still don't see what the big problem is. When I signed up for the annual pass I waited a few days to think about whether I really wanted to play for a whole year. I did this because I thought it wouldn't make much sense to so sign up for a mount and a beta of a game I don't enjoy. And it would make even less sense to spend about 140 € subscription to a game I don't enjoy just so I don't have to spend 40 € on Diablo III.

What I'm getting at is that I assume people signed up for the annual pass because they enjoy playing WoW first of all. And we can play WoW at the same cost as always. So at this point we haven't really lost anything. The beta, mount and diablo III are basically presents, and at worst all you can complain about is that one of those presents is late. Is a late present really that big of a problem? Afterall, so far we've missed about 48 hours of a beta that will last months and will still have a lot of features added - many new things to discover first - as the beta content is also added in waves.

I understand why some people had different expectations and also why these people are upset. But don't worry, you will get into the beta and you will be the first to see the things that are added at a later point.

Meggers wrote: With all their resources though, they could have handled it better by adding more servers etc. They've known for a while how many annual passholders there are, as such they could have worked something out to hold more people sooner at the very least. :/
Servers cost money to get and run, lots of money. That's just the servers, it doesn't include the tech team either. Who do you think is going to foot the bill for this ? They would pass the cost on to us more likely. They would need a small army of servers to handle everyone trying to log in at once. You also have the factor of your computer simply not being able to deal with this.
I believe if you can believe out of nothing an explosion (big bang) happened then how far fetched can god be?

I came to the forums looking for pictures of the MoP pets and I just had to register to say you're not alone Nili. I didn't care that much into getting into beta because I prefer to explore it in live but I understand why people are upset about it. It's one thing to have a staggered beta, it's another to say that people with the pass will be it at some point. If they had an announced schedule, like say we plan to have everyone from the pass in within the next month or whatever I think people would be a lot less upset. But as of now it's just like "Well, you'll get in at some point! Enjoy waiting!" I know how the Betas work, I've been in past ones. But they made it seem like everyone with the pass would be in fairly early, and now who knows. But I understand why they didn't just let everyone it at once, the beta was already laggy and disconnecting like crazy from what I heard. Imagine if a bunch more got in at the same time. That said, it wasn't even directed at me and it felt like Nili and the others who disagree with blizzard were getting attacked. Opinions are great to have, but someone having one different from yours is okay too.

Thank you :)
And welcome to Petopia ^-^

Also Adam, I think you missed Meggar's point completely. They knew they'd have a lot of people sign up way ahead of time and had plenty of time to prepare for this.

In my opinion, this just looks really bad from a consumer's point of view and I will be advising people to look back on this current situation in the future.

With that in mind....it is still fairly early.

I mean, the Beta hasn't even been out 48 hours. I don't think it's even been 24 hours actually.

If it was a month or more now, I could understand being annoyed, but it has not even been two days.

If them a few more and I'm sure most of people will have their invites.
