Openraid: EU and US raiding communities

Unread post by Samskeyti »

Hello all,
through reading a post on fluiddruid, I heard about OpenRaid, which exists for EU (http://www.openraid.eu) and US (http://www.openraid.us).

I haven't joined a raid yet but have signed up for one - I think it's a fantastic initiative. If you do crossrealm, you have to allow your realID, but only the raidleader will see it (and if you decide to create a raid, noone will see yours).

For Ulduar, Firelands, ICC mount and transmog and meta achievement runs, this is great if nothing happens on your realm, or if some Petopians want to organize runs. There is also an addon that manages the raids in game (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/i ... nRaid.html)

I'll see if I get into a run, and will give some feedback, but I thought it be worth sharing.

I was attempting to try petopian runs but people are too squeamish with the real name thing, here's hoping blizzard updates battletags to work for wow as well! :)

thanks for the site o:

I remember seeing an article about this site and other similar ones on WoW Insider a bit ago. I love the idea, but I admit I'm still a bit hesitant about joining. Some commenters warned it was an easy way for people to get your login email, and if the sites were ever compromised someone would have a good chunk of information on all sorts of accounts.

I think I'll wait for Battletags to join, but they really are a great idea. :)

That's a good point. I tend to overlook how cheeky/bad people can be, I always believe in the good in them :-). I wish Blizzard had battle tags from the start of the whole realID/crossrealm thing! I mean, there's so many games that use them... I do have my authenticator though.
But, it might be my only way to ever get the two previous Cataclysm metas...

I've recently heard of this via my guildys, some of them have been participating the raids for achieves. I reallyyy want to get a raid for the T11 meta, but all of the raids on the website are at sucky times for me =(, all early in the morning Aus time. There are a handful in midday, but I just can't do day time raids for some reason D:. But yeah, it is an amazing idea! and hopefully I can find some night time ones eventually (:

I'd like to know more about this because it sounds like a good idea. I'm still a bit hesitant though to hand out my real name and email to people I don't know so I might wait for BattleTags.

Chao,

I joined a (quite disastrous because people had no idea and did loot drama) openraid 25man Firelands last night. I added the raidleader on realID (he gave us his email through the chat in the website) so he could invite me. He was nice, but he couldn't save the group that fell apart after the second boss. He then deleted me from realID, so mutually I don't have him there anymore either. He never saw my email.

Now if only I'd get into the raids that actually work!

I've been using this for a few weeks now and it's been generally great, got a good few achievements done and will hopefully finish up my fl meta in an Openraid run tonight, down to heroic nef for my cata raider meta (missed a chunk of t11, did most of this meta on openraid in last couple of weeks).
