Still no flaming doggies

Unread post by Boven »

When I was running around Orgimmar taking the giant pet pics I posted in another thread, I also swung by the new Ragefire Chasm. I didn't bother going through it. I just went in far enough to have a look at the flaming skeleton dogs in there. They're smaller versions of the ones in Firelands. I wasn't terribly surprised to see that they're elementals and thus, not tameable. I figured it was worth looking though.

They're summoned by dark shamans and were only found in the realm of the Firelord. It shouldn't be a surprise really. They were never meant to be tameable.

I hope they get a tamable version some day. Skeleton dog should be tamable, especially since I can tame undead skeleton birds, undead pigs, and who knows what else XD

I would love to see them added to the Dog family some day. :) We can tame Core Hounds, a turtle made of fire, a spider made of lava. A flaming dog is not out of the question.

a flaming skeleton dog thats SUMMONED to our realm is another matter entirely. >> Not saying I'd be against it but it's the same reason we can't tame phoenixes...Phoenixes are summoned elementals(only summoned by Blood Mages/Fire Mages). Wouldn't make a lick of sense. Definitely not something I'm gonna hound Blizz about. I'd rather get the spirit beast tiger.

Well, it is early in Beta. Who knows, they might make them tameable later.

A lot of people said they would never make Corehounds tame-able so there's always hope.

Well I didn't mean these Ragefire Chasm ones specifically. lmao Though if I wanted to be technical, they did let us have Grimtotem Spirit Guides for awhile and they were summoned ;DThough Phoenixes are on par with dragons because they're sentinent and also beings of pure fire. I don't think they're untamable because of just 'being summoned', or A'lar would've qualified then because he isn't summoned when you go into The Eye. But this is getting wildly off-topic lol

But I don't think anyone's hounding Blizzard. I think it's more of a 'I can dream' sort of deal. XD

Plus, it's not like we haven't 'wished' for something, and Blizzard implemented it. I mean we wanted unusued skins, they implemented them. We wanted challenging tames, 4.2 was full of them.

Well the grimtotem spirit guides were a bug. Doesn't really count. If it were intentional, that'd be another story. :P

I did some searching on Phoenixes a few days ago...and they're not sentient(borderline I'd say maybe). A'lar was summoned by Kael'thas to protect Tempest Keep.

The doggies in Firelands are there because thats their realm...where they live. Dark Shamans summon them from there.

I know but I'm just listing some reasons probably why we can't get them. I think they're cute in their own right. Half of me wants them tameable....other half says no way.

If they were tameable, since i havent been into or researched the new Ragefire Chasm, i can probably conclude the Molten Front ones would be converted, since it is their home turf and they're completely neutral. They dont seem to care in the slightest about the war unless your on the dailies where they join in on the battle (least, i think they do, im pretty sure you get quests to kill them in MF.. ive only seriously maybe done 6 days of dailies inside MF before.. im sooooo far behind....)

You can find them in the patch behind the place where most of the dailys are sleeping they are neutral there. but your right only time you need to worry about them is if you have that daily or are doing the dailys with the Flamewalkers.

"Lore" or no...we have eagles and pigs that are clearly dead, spiders and turtles made of living fire and lava, spiders made of rock and crystal, demonic corehounds and dogs, ghost pets, a snake made of stone, owls made of stone, ghostly owls made of stone, a cat and crab made of molten metal, a crystal spider, and spirit beasts (come on, those aren't animals!)

Somehow, I think it is plausible we could tame a fire dog.

Rofl, this is all I could think as well. I'm sorry but some people on this forum are just out to disappoint others. There's entirely the chance Blizzard could make those dogs tameable if they wanted to, I'm sure if corehounds can be tamed then these could as well. Frankly I don't care how they were summoned into the world or whatever, if they're there, I still see no reason why I hunter couldn't tame one.

There's no need to stoop low just because some people disagree with someone else. No one is out to get you or purposely trying to ruin your day because we have an opinion of our own. :)

They changed the blighthounds from demon to beast to become tameable so the precedent of changing existing mobs is well established.

the coolest thing I think about those flaming dogs is the color variations they could do, like they did with the 5 spiders of 4.2. that would be neat imo :D

plus models aren't lore bound, luckily.

I'm not arguing the tameability or not. I *am*, however, suggesting that the fact they're summoned shouldn't make a difference:

Image Angered Aarakora Protector is a spirit that is summoned by its keepers.

Image Gezzarak has to be summoned for the quest, and it implies that they are 'not natural' beasts.

Image Alystros is a statue who is brought to life by a quest, and can be tamed.

Image Displaced Warp Stalkers and...
Image Lost ravagers
are both creatures who were pulled to this world through a portal from another dimension.

Well, to be honest, you have a very negative way of showing that opinion. 'They were never meant to be tameable' is not necessarily true. As already stated, we've seen a hunter boss from the Firelands who has two of these dogs as companions. Blizzard could always have plans or ideas of possibly making them tameable in the future. In fact, you don't even seem to show your opinion as such, you seem to straight out say 'No, that's not going to happen'. Just because the dogs were summoned by shamans or whatever doesn't mean they can't be tameable. Just because they're classed as elementals doesn't mean Blizzard won't change that at some point.

I really need to learn to just ignore these things that annoy me lol.

All I really came to say anyway was that I do hope these dogs can be tameable one day. I wouldn't complain if they never are but it's such a nice new model that I think it needs to be taken out of the Molten Front/Firelands/whatever place they might possibly have added them in during MoP and shown off to the world. AKA. Orgrimmar. xD (Or Stormwind, I forget about Alliance lol.)

This is a possibility. However, the creatures that you are wanting to become tameable are *elementals*. Not *beasts*. This, in and of itself, means that they were never meant to become tameable. In the same way that the Core Worms were turned from beasts into elementals, and yet the Shale Spiders are still beasts.

Perhaps one day, their ability may change and they'll go from 'demon' to 'beast'. It has been done in the past. However, even those were never *meant* to be tameable. People's minds simply changed as the game went on. So there's no reason to think that an individual is getting down on someone for saying something that is true: they are not meant to be tamed. If it changes, then it changes, but it does not make them 'likely to be tameable' if they aren't actually beasts.
