Something that came to my attention recently is that a lot of people I've noticed on this forum seem to talk about little OCDs they have to do with WoW. So I thought I'd make a thread about it where you can tell others your OCDs if you wish or even just rant about them, since I know having a certain OCD can be very irritating at times. I'll start with some of mine.
I feel the need to clear out my hunter's stable a lot. I often change my mind on what kind of pets I want to have and I prefer to have a theme of some kind.
Wednesday is considered for me the 'refresh' day. That came about because that's the day that raids are reset and you can do everything again for the week, if you get what I mean. At first all this meant was me doing clear-outs of stables/bags/bank and to do my raids again but now it's turned into a full on, in real life clean-up day where I will also dust, hoover and generally clean my room. I'm a very tidy person in general anyway so my room is barely ever a mess at all but I sometimes like to move things about. It also helps that Wednesday is my day off from college, hehe.
If I'm going looking for a specific rare that NPC Scan will be able to pick up, the volume *needs* to be off. The sound of NPC Scan frightens me but I'm alright just seeing the alert pop up.
One of the bigger things (Which might annoy a few people lol.) is that, sometime in October, I quit WoW because I was really bored of it. I came back a few months later and I wanted to 'start again', so to say. So to do that I deleted all my current characters and started a brand new one, who is my main today. To keep myself entertained I wanted to get all the rare mounts I had once got back again. I still don't really know why exactly I felt the need to delete the characters, considering I even went to a new realm when I came back, I suppose I just did it to stop myself from just going back to them, playing them and getting bored quickly again. But here's the part that might annoy some of you. I only had one level 85 but she had loads of stuff including Time Lost, Aeonaxx and the Grey Riding Camel. She also had the Raven Lord, Vitreous Stone Drake, etc. Granted none of them were easy to get (Besides the camel but to be honest I didn't really care about that, I just came across the right figurine one day.) but I still felt like I wanted to get those mounts again over time. I also had a level 80 with Time Lost too but that was a spout of amazing luck so I wasn't too worried about deleting that character. It's a bizarre OCD I have which involves more than just WoW, the need to 'start again' since I can't think of a better word or name for it. When I want it to I like it to happen at the start of the week and it involves clearing out a lot of different things. It could be considered good but for me it gets pretty annoying. Luckily I haven't had that happen to me in WoW since then and I doubt it ever will, in fact the only urge I've ever got is to ask a GM to bring back my old level 85 but I know that if I do that I just won't play my current main anymore and I don't want that to happen.
I also like things to be 'tidy' in WoW, for example, if I start questing in one area I can't start another area until I've got the achievement for the quests there.
Less to do with WoW itself and more about this forum, my posts need to look 'pretty'. My avatar and signature also need to match.

WHY DO YOU PEOPLE NEVER PUT STUFF IN THE RIGHT TAB?!
I am the GM of 4 guilds (3 of them all relatively small in size with it just being me and some friends and 1 guild strictly just for me) -- the task of keeping everything neat and tidy among the GBs is my job. It's not only an obsession I have, it has become my bane.
I was also in charge of bank cleaning duties in another, larger guild (200-300 members + alts) before moving my toons over to Nesingwary. I know all to well the pain and frustration that comes from having this responsibility! It would never fail; I'd just finish spending a good hour or so reorganizing materials into stacks and placing items under the correct tabs when someone would come along and dump all their grey quality crap or whatevers into the bank ... made me sooo mad

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I'm very OCD about my backpacks as well. Everything has to be organized a certain way. First and foremost is always a Hearthstone, followed by any Tools I may need for my professions (Gnomish Army Knife, Virtuoso Inking Kit, etc.), and then Repair Bots and Vanity Items/Toys (if applicable). Then there are Bandages, followed by any Potions or Flasks. After that, there's Food for buffs and then Questing Items.
Anything I gather along my questing expeditions must also be organized in a certain manner. Fabric (aka: Cloth, Wool, Silk, etc.) is always placed in stacks first. Then, depending on the toon I happen to be playing, I'll have my Ore and Stone followed by Leather and/or Herbs. BOP Gear has next priority followed by any BOE Gear I come across and all organized in decending order by how it is displayed on the character tab: head, neck, shoulders, chest, bracers, hands, waist, legs, feet, rings, and weapons. Whenever I make a stop along my travels to vendor grey quality items and such, I take a few minutes to adjust all these items accordingly ... it's crazy I know!
As you can probably guess, my individual bank space and bags are no different. My main spaces always contain Mats for my professions. Each additional bag is also designated for a specific purpose. There's always a bag for Surplus Profession Mats (if needed), a bag for Cooking Mats (if needed), BOE Gear for future levels (saves $ from always buying in AH), RP Gear/Weapons for fun, and the last bag is always reserved for extra Tabards, Account-Wide Novelty Pets, and Miscellaneous Items.

Also, my Tenacity pet is always in Call Pet 1 and Spirit Beast is always in Call Pet 2.
Right now I have a routine in doing dailies: First put up any auctions, then go see if Pebble quest is on (never is) then go do firelands dailies, then do JC/fishing/cooking dilies, then solo MGT and UP, Then do TB dailies. After that I may choose to either do archeology or heroics.

Re: WoW-Related OCDs
Wow and I thought I was bad. xD But yeah, my bags/bank must also be very organised. Which is the reason I like using TukUI so much, it turns all your bags and bank space into one large one which makes organising *so* much easier, not to mention it makes the UI look tidier too and you can even set things however you like. (Although it becomes annoying when making alts, all the settings have to be the *exact* same on all characters haha.)
The emptier my bags are, the neater they look. Honestly. The normal things for me to have are, in the bottom left-hand corner, hearthstone, skinning knife and fishing pole. This means that anything I loot goes straight at the top. I'm not a raider anyway which normally means my bags are quite empty. My only professions are skinning and herbalism since I hate proper professions, urg they cost so much money to level up and always make everything a mess! I also don't raid apart from LFR once a week. Which brings me to another OCD I have in WoW - I have lists in notepad of what gear to get. Right now I have PvE gear and I *cannot* bring myself to move up a tier until one set is fully complete. Right now I've listed, in descending item slots for how they appear on the character sheet, all the gear I need to get from LFR. When I complete an item I fill in the space with 'DONE' instead. The only reason I want this gear is for transmogrification purposes. All my sets have to have matching items exactly and have to come from a proper set, right now I'm wearing the full set of level 70 PvP gear.
But really, if you want a tidy and clean and simple UI, look into getting TukUI. It's super easy to download and install and it's been the only UI I've used for at least two years now.

Re: WoW-Related OCDs
I always have to face a vendor/NPC if I'm interacting with them, even if I can do so without looking in their direction.
My stable pages are always categorized. I have my Ferocity pets first, then Cunning, then Tenacity last.
There's probably more, that's all I can think of right now though. x)

Same here as well! xD However, with ferocity, all exotic pets have to come first, starting with spirit beasts. I have such strange habits I didn't even realise.

Re: WoW-Related OCDs
Certain pets 'have' to be used at certain times. When I go grinding in Hyjal for chests, I use Sambas. It feels odd otherwise. Ban'thalos helps out in The Firelands. My worm is always in use when I do Sethekk Halls, and Panzer is always my go-to for other soloing instances.
For doing dailies, I always have a certain order I do groups in. Sometimes it's an obvious one ('this is the most efficient way'), though with most, it's just because 'This Is How It's Done'.
I can't go by a lot of zones without checking if the rares are up. I know the general areas they show up in, and will deliberately fly past them to try and 'ping' them with Silverdragon and/or NPCscan. This goes for both the 'big rares' (Spirit Beasts, unique tameables) and the 'happenstance' rares (almost any old world rare). If they aren't tameable, I also 99% of the time stop by and kill them for the greenies. If they're tameable, I most of the time leave them alone. ... most.

Re: WoW-Related OCDs

The only OCD thing I have is that I have to jump in and out of instances, and when capturing the flag in battlegrounds.
Don't ask me why. When I try not doing it, it feels very wrong. lol

Hehe. I've had my friend clean up my banks too before. She's also VERY OCD about a lot of WoW things.Chaoyll wrote:Smyelmdar wrote:I actually wish I had some of your OCD. You should see my banks. But I'm like that in real life too though. But I can usually find my things, even though my place is messy. I have ADHD so maybe that has something to do with it. The mess resembles the insides of my head.

Re: WoW-Related OCDs
To be honest, anyone who walked straight into my room and took a quick look at it would probably call it messy. But if you look at it properly it's just busy and ridiculously organised. No, I don't have DVDs going from A-Z or anything, things are just neatly placed and clean since I dust a lot. But I do have a lot of stuff, I like plushes and figurines and they're everywhere.
Speaking about my DVDs though, they go from horror --> action/adventure --> 3D animated --> 2D animated --> TV shows. And of course within that there's companies, so all the Pixar films stay together, etc. It's pretty freaky to some but frankly I don't go through it and organise it every five minutes, I just decided that's how I wanted them when I moved in haha. Also I hate the typical things such as leaving DVDs/game discs out of their correct boxes, plates and glasses lying around, etc.

I mean, some of my DVD's like TV shows are in some order, but the rest is just placed where there is room for them.

Same with my books and CD's.
This is how my bookcase looks:

Hope you won't get traumatized by it.

Sorry for the huge image. :O

Re: WoW-Related OCDs
Nah that's not bad. I don't think I know many of those books anyway so I don't even know what kind of order they should be in. xD
And ooohh... Picture taking time! I wonder what everyone else thinks about my room.
Here's my bookshelf which is part of my desk, where I'm sitting now, in fact in the picture you can see Petopia on my computer. xD I'm not a huge reader so I don't have too many books really, some manga and some childhood favourites and whatnot. I'm currently reading The Hunger Games which is beside me, not my copy though, my sister's room is basically a library. xD
Sadly you can only see the top of my epic My Little Pony collection! (I'm a sad, sad 19 year old. u_u)
My DVDs and games and stuff. My Nintendo DS has a custom-made Pikachu skin on it, it's awesome. And my Xbox controller is a dick and I need a new one.
And just for the lulz, my epic awesome collection of Stitch! I have a friend at college nicknamed Stitch and he's jealous beyond belief of my collection. xD Also some dragons, rawr.

Re: WoW-Related OCDs

And it really looks very clean.
I like your Stitch collection.

Most of the books on my picture are danish - or danish translated books. So no wonder you don't know them.

The thick ones on the middle shelf are the Earth's Children books, if you know them.
And the ones on the bottom are either games, tarot cards or some different vocabularies.
