Can we talk about Pandaria's music?

Unread post by pengupuff »

I'm not into the beta yet, so I'm just speaking based on what I've heard in trailers, live streams, and preview vids.
Still, I have to say, I'm loving the MoP music so far. It's so tranquil, yet it makes me want to go exploring.

I liked Cataclysm's music well enough, but it seemed like every single score was trying desperately hard to sound "epic." This was fitting for raids, but when I just happened to be flying through a zone, the harsh music could get a little overbearing. MoP's music feels better for exploring the new world and adventuring, and just listening to it on youtube gave me chills. I can't wait to experience it all first hand. :]

I agree. MoP music is so much more....I dont even know how to describe it. Words escape me.

Catas was...okay but it was all *doomdoomdoomdoom* except the new night elf song. The doom bit gets old after awhile.

MoP's music is wonderful. I find it's very enjoyable to listen to and like you said, it's not overbearing. It kind of reminds me of Wrath zones where the music was present, but not so much so that I noticed it.

I know that doesn't make sense but its like...

Like the music is seamless with the environment. Instead of feeling like "music", it feels like it's just there; part of the natural environment. In Cataclysm, while I loved the music, at times it was very noticeable and a stark contrast to the environment it was in.

I was thinking this as well yesterday, especially after hearing the music in this video. It's stunning. I'm lost for words.

If there's one thing that Blizzard *always* do right, it's their soundtracks.

I adore the soundtrack for this expansion. I logged into the Pandaren starting area in beta and just lowered the volume levels on everything except the music and kept it running in the background, it's so beautiful.

the music of the starter area is pretty, but not terribly original.

if you want to hear more or less the same music, listen to "Hero", by Tan Dun (from the film soundtrack... the theme is VERY similar, in my opinion, a bit too similar).

I rather like the music in Pandaria. It's a little relaxing and not so obtrusive that you really notice it. It's good background music for questing. I haven't come across any that distracts me enough to stop and listen to it like some other music in WoW does.

I absolutely love the music in Northrend, but some of it was a little distracting while I played. Much of the Cata music is either warlike or sad, which is almost certainly the intention. The new Goblin music stands out nicely though.
