Don't Buy Gold

You should never buy gold, and here is why;
Most likely the gold came from someone else who worked hard to get it and was hacked
Cataclysm will be out soon so any gear you purchase will simply be replaced and outdated soon
You have 95% chance of getting hacked yourself after wards
It ruins the games economy
You make yourself susceptible to identity theft and malware
Some poor kid in China will continue to have to work for pennies to provide services for gold so long as there is a market for it
Blizzard will soon start targeting those who purchase gold and power lvling with the ban hammer
And finally...
There is NO easy way, not in life, not in games. You get the gold, you buy the gear, you lack the skills of those who have earned it and are basically paying for someone else to play the game you pay for.

You likely won't find help here. In Wow there's a general lack of respect and hatred for those who buy gold because they ruin things for the rest of us, cheaters plain and simple. Yet I will say this if you were foolish enough to use a credit card for this call your credit card company and cancel that card and get anew one with a different number. You don't want to be funding scammers.

I've merged the two posts by marysmith, who was almost certainly setting up some sort of gold-buying-advertising-thing. (As everyone here should know, posting advertisements for activities that are against the World of Warcraft Terms of Use is not allowed here.)

But I've left the locked thread, with a title change, because you guys posted a heap of good reasons not to buy gold. And if someone does come here with that question -- and lots of new players have never run into this before and do have legitimate questions about the whole thing -- I want them to find this thread and have their questions answered.

Should you buy gold? No, you shouldn't.
