Another Tarantulalala (Pinktoe pictures!)

Like I mentioned in the "Insect Pets" thread, I was planning on getting an a. avic within the next couple weeks-- it took a bit longer than I hoped due to the cold weather, but I finally got him today. I'm unsure of gender since he's still rather small, but I'm just going to defaultly call it 'him' until I know. He's still quite young and is a little over 2", seems quite docile and friendly.

Well, docile and friendly aside from jumping on the pet store employee who boxed him up.

I'll take some pictures in a few hours when I attempt to handle him, or at least take him out to get some decent pictures.

Here are some pictures of his little adventure in the bathtub, and walkin' around on his tank. Excuse all of the water droplets, I just misted him a few minutes ago. x)







He's very calm and slow moving, even had him in my hand to put him back home. I'm very pleased with the one I picked.

D'awwww look at his little toesies! *tickles them* One thing I love about avics is how they look like they're wearing little spider boots.

:O thats very pretty! The Auckland zoo here has at least one pinktoe but I've never seen a baby one before it's very pretty.

I know, I just love their little toes! They look so silly and adorable. I especially love the way they walk, they're so clumsy, as if they've got extra feet.

Think he's settled in for the night, I can't wait for him to start webbing a home. I'll try feeding him within the next couple of days.

Just a little quickie update: He ate one cricket, remains nameless, but!

Super excited since I've inspected him very closely a few times and believe that he is actually a she. I'll obviously have to wait for a molt to confirm this, but he looks identical to my 7" female L. para.

Finally decided on a name! Cotton. I had to open up her tank today since I found out the hygrometer was faulty, and she decided to take a walk on my hand. Cotton just kind of fit when I was feeling how fuzzy wuzzy she was.

Side note: I had to put this MONSTER into a new tank today. My nerves are shot.
