Advice for a tame.

Unread post by Kira »

So, I've made a decision. As much as I Adore Odin, my white Devilsaur, I've slowly fallen in love with King Krush. I don't think I've seen anyone with him on my server, or if someone does have him they're either horde side or they don't use him (how dare they!)

My question is this...how do I go about getting myself this big scaley guy? I know I have to stack stam and haste, hopefully find a nice priest that would help me out. Is there anything else I should do? I want to get him as soon as possible, which means not a lot of time to prepare, but I'd still like a good chance at him before I do it. Any advice would be great!

Well, stacking stamina and haste is pretty much most of it. You might want to look into a good macro that will cover your Potion of Speed, the Bestial Wrath/abandon script, and Tame Beast (plus haste-on-use trinkets if you have them; if you don't, you'll want to do the quests to get them). While you may want to get him as soon as possible, it often doesn't work out that way. Do you know a priest or resto shaman that is going to search with you the whole time, or can be on as soon as you find him (then you have to wait the agonizing, dangerous minutes until help arrives)? If not, you may want to take time to prepare. Even if you think you're prepared, there's still a fair amount of luck involved. Most probably don't get him on the first attempt - I know I didn't. Everyone and their mom wants to kill him, probably even if they don't need or care about the achievement. It's just, "HEY BIG SHINY DINO, ME KILL!", then they get their blue that isn't worth squat anymore and go about their merry way.

I will be up front with you, you most likely will go through a LOT of frustration and disappointment before getting him but I must say, he's a pet that is very hard to come by and I doubt there are many hunters across the realms that have him. Only two (maybe three) on my server that have him and that's a lot, lol.

In any case, I wish you a ton of luck!!!

It's times like this I wish that my Shaman and my hunter were on seperate accounts. She's resto and would be a big help.

I may have come across a bit rude by saying that I wanted him asap. What I Meant to say, or Should have said probably, is that I'd like to Start the hunt soon. I'll probably spend the next bit in the Basin, I'm very persistant. When I hunted down Skoll I stayed logged in on a slow computer and circled his spots a few times an hour. When I get the urge to get a pet that needs to be farmed, I farm. I'm ready for a few 'DINO ACHIEVEMENT KILL' people, I know they exist...I killed Skoll on my Mage once, do I ever feel bad about that now.

I think it's the idea that he Is so hard to get that draws me to him. I know that when (not if, When) I get him I'll never want to give him up. If something takes a lot of work to do/get, I never leave it just be, and he will be with me pretty much all the time. I've been so bored with WoW lately that thinking of this is just getting me excited and worked up! I love it!

Krush is so very awesome! I know when I was searching for mine I offered a gold reward for him NOT to be killed. Made a semi-witty and clear macro explaining the terms of the reward. Be sure to not advertise the amount you are willing to pay if you do decide to offer gold. There are hunters out there that will try and screw you out of help. I spamed it every 20 min in general chat. Of course there were trolls saying they killed him 10 min ago and whatnot but don't believe them all! Always be polite to any tells, good and bad alike. Also met a load of great people that offered to help look even without the reward. Great conversations were had that prevented many hours of brain-dead circling. I still talk with a quite a few of em today.

I did the stam stack and used extra badges to get all the haste I could find. Had the engineering enchant added to my gloves (my armory looked horrid!) and made a macro to use everything with 2 buttons. Even after all that I was killed and had to ask a farming priest for help. I lost him at the bones and he was pating around the camp. Boy was I lucky the npcs didn't get him there. A DK was attacking him when I found him agine but he was very kind and stopped for me. One thing I didn't know about his attacks is that he has a very random charge and knockback. If anyone else was on his hate list he would charge them, thereby breaking the tame. Mix that very frustrating ability along with the fear and 3 other people. It was super challenging.

All in all I used haste food, stam scroll, a mix of pvp gear and badge gear (including on use haste trinket) for haste, engineering glove enchant, the addon npcscan off of curse, 2 macros and a speed potion. I cant log in right now to show the macros but I know I had 2. The second was the dangerous one that used BW and auto pet release. I have the ghost wolf and I was deathly afraid I would find Krush and in the confused adrenalin rush would accidentally abandon it. There was the global cooldown too but the abandoning part worried me most. I also recomend the old standby target macro. I had abandoned mine after getting the addon and when I lost the mob I had to hastly type one out with shaking hands while explaing to the priest exactly what I needed him to do with fear ward.

I wish you all the best in your hunt for Krush. He is totally worth it. I hope he spawns soon for you and I hope there are many people that are willing help!

My first night on the hunt and he spawned about an hour in!...but he was killed. Oddly enough, I was alright with it. Let me explain. I go into the basin after getting some gear and 22k health, and respeccing to hopefully make it easier, little haste but I refuse to leave to get more. Hopefully I do alright. Anyway! I ask in general if anyone's seen him. Another hunter had killed him, so I asked if he was serious, got a yes, then another guy piped up in general. Wanted to kill him to get Frostbitten. Of course I pipe up that I wanted to tame him and the guy gets pretty upset. Offers to pay to for telling him where he is so he can kill Krush.

A while later he sends me a tell to say that he's got to go and wish me luck. Awful nice. He apologizes for saying that before and says he, get this, 'feels bad for offering gold to kill him when you wanted to tame him.' Woah...awesome! Then he says that he's been looking for Two weeks and Five days. Minute later I get a 'found him' and ask where, he invites me, but kills him. I got a spot where he can spawn, and he got his achievement. He also said he would tell me if he spotted him and I was on he'd tell me. Plus he's got friends and at least one of them added me to a macro to tell me if they spot him.

So, didn't get him, but have a time for him, and I have some help. I'm going to offer gold for help to tame him I think. I hope I get a good shot at him sometime soon.

Whoa nice! I know having friends in the area really helps even if you are the one that finds it yourself. Just knowing there are people around that want to help is a huge moral boost. Grats to the guy for his kill too. That right there is one less person looking for him :)

Still no sign of Krush, but a few people have offered to help me look for him. Guess the gold helps, hehe. I will say this however...I found Loque again. Asked in general if there were any other BM hunters out there and I got one sending me a tell. Told them I found Loque and they asked why I was offering to give him away. Already have him, I thought I'd share the wealth. Horde hunter came and I begged and asked her to wait and they did (thank you random hordey!) So now there's a hunter with a brand new Loque walking around. I feel really good about it too. Might not have my Dino yet, but someone else has a pet they think is completely adorable. Fine by me!

Is there a Krush taming charm around here somewhere? I think I need one.

First heartbreak...two attempt and they failed..macro's aren't working right I don't think..so I try again. Orc Warrior is attacking and killing him. I /beg at Least ten times and he just..keeps it up. Looking for ten hours and he gets killed...I literally broke down in tears. Stupid, I know, but...I dunno, maybe I'll just go back and get my Devilsaur from Un'Goro...I want Krush something bad and to see idiotic people like that...god, it hurts.

Edit: Okay, calmed down. Still amazingly mad at that orc. I will keep trying to get Krush until I manage it or my time expires, one of the two. But I swear if I ever see that horde flagged he will be slaughtered and spit upon. I get a bit cranky when people do that. If a HUNTER is /begging you while your attacking a BEAST...it means they want to Tame said beast.

Hey Asliasa, I wish you the best of luck in your searches for Krush. He is so extremely rare.
I have this beauty on my hunter Kyriss. It took me 13 months to get him. Search began in November of 2008, and I successfully tamed him on December 25, 2009. He is such an amazing pet, and means so much to me after over a year of searching. Often I would go months of seeing him only 1-2 times a month. The road had many frustrating and heartbreaking disappointments, as people killed him, out of cluelessness or spite.

Here are my tips:
Get an addon like Rarefinder, and test it out. Then when you are cooking, eating, watching tv, etc... Hover in a spawn point, with your sound way up. Just in case. It simply provides more chances to find him, even while youre not actively playing.

Also, Krush fears frequently. It will screw up your tame. You want to stack insane amounts of haste, to make Tame Beast as short as you possibly can, so that you don't have to risk as much fear-time after BW wears off. My closest attempt before the real thing failed when I took a horribly unlucky fear during the only 0.5 seconds i was fearable. "/timer" brings up a timer, and you can practice taming a throwaway pet and see how short you can get the spell. (there is an elixir, and stat food, and potion of speed that have haste, in addition to gear items) Keep your eyes peeled in heroics for unwanted haste leathers, check the ah, emblem vendors, the faction vendors, and the argent tourney for items.

Test your macros on trash tames, because they'll almost certainly be buggy at first. If you have a string of /cast /use /use /use, and one of them doesnt stack, or has a short shared CD, it will break the chain and everything after it wont work. For example, 2 click-to-use haste trinkets probably share a short CD. I found test runs helpful, because I would always go into super-panic mode and my brain became scattered whenever I found Krush. Having practiced helps you calmly click your buttons in order. I set up a spellbar with them in the correct order left to right for those spaz moments.

Hook up with Loque hunters. Make the deal that they tell you, you tell them. I found they would come and go, not being as dedicated, but any help helps! Bind your hearth to Sholazaar in case he's spotted at any time.

Lastly, you just need an incredible amount of patience. Your best chances for tames are when the basin population is low. More often that not other players will mess you up. By the end, i ended up also having loque and aotona, with 1 aotona and 3 more loques given out too, lol. Good luck!

What a sad thing   and some cookies too. Keep at it though, seems you have had great luck so far in actually finding him! In my opinion the hardest part is being around when he spawns. I hope that orc gets it good too

And what Noba said......practice! practice! practice! I can't remember how many haste potions and foods I used just trying everything out on the cats. I recall making the longest haste buff the first one to be used followed by the second longest , so on and so forth. Not sure if that was helpful or not with a channeled spell but I felt better about it in case I missed something with button clicks

If anyone is charting spawn points and times, I just got the bird Aotona 12:18 EST at 54.6, 52.2 - right between the oracle daily that is inside the tree (Oracle Soo-dow) and the snake named 'Venomtip'.

I can also confirm that Aotona is not a BeastMaster only pet.

Happy Hunting.

Wow. Just wow. Good luck in that, really. I think I'll try when I reach that level, but for now, I think I'll stay happy with my gorilla Codemonkey. ^^ But honestly, this will be a great learning experience for any hunter interested in taming this wonderful and rare beast.

I made a note of everything Kastarakov, my Horde Hunter on Saurfang did to tame Krush; second post down from Aleu's. Four unsuccessful attempts (involving a LOT of panic, long story short, don't expect him to play nice straight off the bat like I did...) and one successful one.

I would also invest in SilverDragon/NPCScan too. I rely very heavily on those addons even for oldworld rares.

I hate how you had to go through what my Dwarven Huntress went through too *pets*
I hope this helps you out :3

Alright, I haven't posted in here in...a looong time. I half gave up on my Krush tame and half on my computer. But I have the old computer tower from my living room hooked up in my room now so I'm back on the tame. No Krush sightings since the second day..but even as I'm typing, Loque is pacing in front of me Again! This is the third time I've seen him walking around. First I gave him up to another hunter, second no one was around so...I killed him *sniffle* and now no hunters around but I just don't feel like killing him again so I'm just watching him play among the gorilla's. Hopefully being able to actually See farther than ten feet in game will help..

Yeah the same thing happened to me. Have only seen King Krush twice and that was it, both times dead. Depending on your server its mostly just luck if he spawns right near you, on my server there is usually atleast 15 people in Shola and walking green dino is a target.
I personally saw Loque twice as well, so the best thing is just stick at it. You can decide if you want to camp (but if you do, do this make sure you have something to keep you entertained otherwise you lose focus fast), randomly go and see if hes up or you can wait til offpeak hours.

For me I think I am just going to wake up at like 2 in the morning and camp him.. I really don't have the patience to camp him all day.. its kinda making me lose my mind a bit haha.

But GL on your hunt!

Alright so...I gave up my hunt for Krush for a bit. I know, I said I wouldn't give up but...I had to. My time expires at the end of the month and I don't really want to spend all that time going in circles and having someone just kill him anyway. After I get a job, hoping it's soon, I'll go back on the hunt but for now I just want to have fun playing. Which means instances with friends, running around, etc. Hopefully I get a job before Cata hits, so I can keep going. But for now...Krush will remain free...For Now...one day, I will have you..

I hope none of you are ashamed of me!
