Now we might be able to get back some of those quest items we deleted for transmorg!

Re: Looks like item restoration is back!
It used to say that when we had to put in a ticket to restore an item the old way too, but they were still able to go back quite far. I know I had an item restored in Cata that I had deleted at the start of BC before gm's stopped honoring the requests. It may be more limited since it is now somewhat automated, but it may not be either. I guess we will have to wait and see. In any case, having some sort of restoration back is better than nothing
Re: Looks like item restoration is back!
Yeah, the 'recently' bit is the snag. Unfortunately, the one item I'd want restored was from sometime last year.
I really want Cairne's First Breastplate back on my hunter. I still can't believe I would've sold or thrown it away, but I can't get the quest and it's not in my bank.

Same here, my rogue did the ring of blood back in burning crusade and has long since sold the dagger he got, and i would love to be able to transmog that, but that was so long ago.

Hmm, it would be great if MogIt could somehow code a feature that showed you all unique appearance quest reward items so you could scroll through and see what you do/don't have.

Re: Looks like item restoration is back!
Went to check this out today when I found a quest reward item I would have liked restored. Unfortunately the service seems like an extended Buyback tab from a vendor. The only items I saw eligible to be restored were things I've picked up and sold to a vendor over the past month or so maybe, and that's it.
Certainly useful if you accidentally sell something and need to get it back within a short period of time, but for older things this still doesn't help us.
Re: Looks like item restoration is back!
Darn! I had heard of this feature and was really hoping it would be a way to recover old deleted quest items. Since transmog came out I'm sure everyone is far more careful about what they delete, disenchant, or vendor. I guess accidents happen though and this is a way remedy a tiny portion of them. I'm sure Blizz knows what everyone really wants is the ability to get one of a kind items for transmog that were deleted long ago. Maybe this feature will eventually expand into that? Otherwise, honestly, it seems kind of lackluster.

Re: Looks like item restoration is back!
Yeah I think they hard-capped it at 30 days. I.e. it's basically Blizzard indirectly saying NO to the (likely) majority of players who want something they vendored before 4.3, whilst softening the blow with a sop to people who just weren't paying attention.
I am sympathetic to them on this one though - just making transmogrification available required some cleanup and restructuring of things, so it's probably not feasible for them to go back further than 30 days in any case.

Re: Looks like item restoration is back!
No doubt! And I'm guessing that tracking what quests a player has completed already isn't a trivial matter, so automating that isn't feasible at this point (yet, anyway; maybe Blizzard will come up with something). Just an unfortunate downside of the game being around for so long and through so many changes beyond the original setup....these of course being good things too.Worba wrote:I am sympathetic to them on this one though - just making transmogrification available required some cleanup and restructuring of things, so it's probably not feasible for them to go back further than 30 days in any case.

Hehe now that you mention it... hey Blizzard! Wanna free up some server space? Go ahead and purge all of my "quest completed" flags that I did before 4.3... no really, I'm just being a "team player"...

I've been thinking of asking them to restore a character I deleted back in BC. I wonder if they'd do that?

Character tracking is different (I think!), so you might have better luck with that.

Re: Looks like item restoration is back!
Most amount of time for items I've seen on this is three months & that's checking my own characters, regarding restoration of items further back such as .... before Cataclysm was release that's a no go, at least for me, as I know I once had a weapon from the old ZA, course no longer obtainable & absolutely nothing resembling it now, no ''record'' of my character having it.

Re: Looks like item restoration is back!
It's too bad it only goes back 30 days. I wonder if they might consider resetting everyone's quests for those of us that cannot get unique quest items back.
