Tcg mounts

Unread post by Sasrei »

Well I figured since this is the mount threads perhaps its time for a thread regarding TCG mounts. I figured it may help to hear stories and what not and some added stuff. Plus im bored waiting for zg que.. I am currently working on getting a few myself .. slacking for about a month there did not help my gold reserves  plus my server is not tcgutopia.. how I wish it was though!

How does one get a tcg mount?
Well you could buy some cards at your local store and hope for it to be in there, most cards are extremely rare to rare.
You can buy cards off of ebay or wowtcgloot.com
You can watch your AH and wait for one to be sold on your server, if the price is high dont be afraid to haggle the cost, sometimes the sellers are willing to negotiate.
You can go to the extreme and server transfer to buy one, very few sellers will be willing to transfer to your server but you can ask, asking never hurts!

How much do they cost?
Moneywise? Expect to spend from $100 up to $500 depending on the mount.

Goldwise? it depends really on your server and how rare they are. Some servers can have multiple tcg mounts up at a time while others its a rare occurrence. Mounts vary in prices but the highest is usually Spectral tiger mount due to its rarity and want. But usually you can spend around 100k-300k. Sometimes a few mounts can be spotted under a 100k, this is the time you think the world may be ending and you must buy it! Those mounts are usually the Bear mount or the swift shorestrider mount. But they vary in server, most times you will see multiple mounts from one person this is because they server transfered and spent there gold on tcg mounts on the previous server to make there gold back on this server.

How the heck do people have enough gold to buy them!!
Simple we have no lives and farm constantly.. whats the outside world like again? JK
Good way to make gold is by herbing/fishing/mining/skinning and generally the rule of thumb is loot everything and sell it. Every little bit helps! Watch the AH and see what is selling the highest then go out there and supply it! No life = hot mount!
Also pvping for honor points or doing dungeons for justice points are good as you can trade the points for items to sell on the AH.
Old world raids you can still make quite a bit of gold by doing old world raids, not only from the items that drop but the gold from the bosses to.

How can I find people selling them?
I find a good website, and as well the forums. You can also watch your realm forum.

I have been very lucky. So far I have been able to get from ebay the Armani Warhawk, Big Battle Bear, Mottled Drake, and the Swift Shorestrider. The Warhawk I ended up selling using the blizzard forums, though I often wish I hadn't. Most of these were gifts from my husband. The only exception was the Warhawk which we decided we would sell to make both our toons some gold.

I also have every pet from TCG with the exception of the soul trader. I'm a huge pet fanatic :D

TCG mounts are incredibly rare on Suramar Alliance-side, I don't think I recall ever seeing a single one.

On Steamwheedle Cartel EU, they simply don't exist. And whenever anything is sold through trade, it's a fake code :-/

Yah on Icecrown its pretty rare to spot one, and when one does go up it usually does for quite awhile. There have been two rocket mounts for sale for 250k for about a month now though. On Nesingwary ive never seen one, its rare for mounts to be on there especially horde side.

There are a few servers that are really good with having rare mounts, but it depends if you want to spend the 25 bucks to get there and then 25 bucks to get back.. really wish those prices were lower.

Good thread idea. (: You might wanna put the questions in bold or something though to make it a tad easier to read.

On Frostwhisper EU, which is known for being quite alive and well Horde-side but rather dead on Alliance, we do get the occasional TCG mount on the auction house. I think there's several up right now but it seems this server is also popular with mount hunters, meaning they don't typically last long, depending on price. There was a Spectral Tiger (Regular, not swift) going for 300k+, I'm not too sure if it's still there, but last time I checked it was. I was quite surprised really.

Frostwhisper is one of the best servers I've ever seen for selling TCG mounts. Downside? Ridiculous prices, all of them. These people have no clue how to sell these kind of items properly.

As for getting the gold to actually buy these mounts should your servers auction house have one sitting there, it's simple. I've already made 300k+ after moving my Druid to Daggerspine (you can't transfer with more than 50k) so I'll tell you what I do. I farm, but I get old materials. WOTLK and BC stuff is always in high demand because people are always leveling alts and needing professions leveled. You grab some old materials and stick them on the AH, they sell like hotcakes. Yeah, it's boring as fuck to farm and time consuming - but you don't get something for nothing. If you're serious about purchasing these mounts then you've got to be willing to put the work in. There's that, and then there's always being clever enough to play the AH. My method may not be the one for you, but hopefully it helps someone with little gold. :D

Thanks for the advice there Ata! I've been low on gold for a while and I'm dying to grab some and quickly, if possible. But can you recommend what exact old stuff we should be farming for? I've got skinning and herbalism but I'm thinking of changing out skinning to mining since no one ever buys my skins, but if I can make good money off it from old-world stuff, that would be great. Or do you just farm mobs and collect bits and pieces?

Mining is probably the best if I'm honest. Herbalism is good as well, and yeah, I've never gotten much from skinning low mobs either. Best place to mine? Wintergrasp. ;)

some servers have crazy high prices, but unless your willing to transfer there is no point in looking around unless its on your server. Ive seen a couple of servers that are pretty good in prices.. none im on though

I think farming is a great way to get gold, old world stuff can sell fast as well as Cata stuff, fish feasts and herbs are always in demand so your best bet is to watch the AH. Its not fun but I agree with Ata, if you want the mounts you have to put in the time for them. I enjoy listening to music while I do my farming, it helps past the time, and if your into books you can always get those cd books to past the time. Also if your a mount collector you can always fish in litch king or cata pools and hope to get yourself a sea turtle.

I have a handful of TCG mounts, all paid for in gold. For me I can't justify spending cash on pixels. I've paid anywhere from 25k to 250k each, so yes, prices vary not only by server but sometimes by faction or timing (cheap at start of Cata, much more expensive now).

If a seller in the AH is asking for a price more than you're willing to pay, don't be shy about sending them an in-game mail and negotiating with them. Just be reasonable and ask nicely. I got one seller to sell at 25k under his AH starting bid. You can also check the other faction's AH and negotiate for cross faction sales... I've tried that three times and got two sellers to sell to me by offering full price plus the AH fee.

As far as how to get enough gold to buy mounts, there's many ways. Farming is fine if you have the time and patience. I don't. I play the AH casually (15-25 min a day) and I find that works really well. There's plenty of online guides that give suggestions on how to do this, but it takes a bit of trial and error to figure out what will work on your server. You'll also need some disposable money to start (I keep a 20k buffer), so you might need to farm up some gold through other means first to get the ball rolling.

My apologies everyone as I obviously missed the question and offended some by going to ebay.

On my server there is one person who has at least one, but usually up to 3 different tcg mounts up for sale at all times on the ah. His prices are fair as well.

Also, thank you for the gold making tip. My main is a JC so Im trying to save every dime I have to be able to make those beautiful new mounts!

Err what? No one in the thread is being snarky or pissy...I am confused why you're saying you offended some. Only one person said they can't personally justify spending $$ on it. That's them.

I spend $$ on pixels a lot (hello, buying the game amongst other things). Nothing wrong with it.

I also never said there was anything wrong with buying them, I buy cards all the time just my luck sucks so buying the actual mount is prolly cheaper in the long run

Wut? I have no idea where you're getting the impression you offended someone from... o.O

As for spending cash on mounts, I'd do it if I had that kind of money spare. But as someone who'll be a university student in less than a year, I have everything but that kind of money. I'm hoping to get a job at some point though and start saving bits here and there for things like mounts. I have all the Blizz Store mounts so clearly I have nothing against it. I'd much prefer to spend gold on them, but I don't make anywhere near enough gold at the moment either for TCG mounts...

? I hope I didn't come across as offended? I just don't spend more than the monthly fee on this game, that's all. Believe me, I'm quite happy that people are willing and able to buy TCG cards, or else I wouldn't be able to give them gold for mounts! And even I browse ebay for them, because I want to know what is the fair gold value on each. I think one of the best things they did was unbind the TCG mounts so that they could be sold safely and legally in-game. Wish they'd do the same with the TCG pets.

Thanks everyone. I am really new here and must had read something wrong once again. Im just being cautious that I dont offend anyone.

Peanutbuttercup, I would love it if the pets were boe as well! It is weird that Blizzard doesn't make both the same. I will say though, that many of the pets now are starting to go down to only 5$ or even less! Those may be worth looking into for everyone. :)

No problem. For the most part it's pretty laid back around here, so no worries.

I would love it if they made the TCG pets BOE. I admit that I've bought a few TCG pet codes with gold but only from guildmates (and as you've noted the newer pets are more common and therefore cheaper, so a $5 TCG pet is very affordable to trade for.) I don't like having to break the rules but that's the only way to get them with gold.

I'd also like the see the Blizzard store mounts and pets BOE as well, like the Guardian Cub, but I guess that was an experiment on Blizzard's part.

Aye, and the downside to the Guardian Cub is that it can't be used for battling, for some reason.

I got my Corrupted Hippogryph as a gift from family member, yes they got it from ebay (they don't play it was only way they could have gotten it). I personally like having the physical card along with the mount. I'm just lucky and grateful they knew enough about wow to get me a mount.
My friend has a few from buying them in AH. Server was Baelgun they're fairly cheap there, but don't last long barely any posted there they go fast.
A few game shops in my area have an event called Spectral safari where you can get some TCG mount and pet cards as well it's actually really fun have to play the game though.
Other then that best thing you can hope for is Ebay or AH unless you're lucky with a deck.
