Me too. I even miss having to feed pets all the time. Although now that I have so little bag space and so many pets, maybe it's good I don't have to carry around pet food anymoreMakoes wrote:I miss having to tame other pets to learn new pet abilities! Re: Any news on more stable slots?
That's the one part I don't miss. I had to release several companions that I liked (Broken Tooth, Old Cliff Jumper) simply so that I had room to get skills for my 'main' pet. If they ever fixed the weird edging around older hair models (wolves, worgs, some horse manes, some character hairstyles) I'd probably give serious consideration for bringing Cliff Jumper back.Makoes wrote:I miss having to tame other pets to learn new pet abilities! I like the idea of 30, especially now that pets can do any role we desire. the main reason I had pets collecting dust and not being used was because they were locked into a role that wasn't optimal. My stable will become more widely used now that I can choose roles.
However I remember the response Blizzard gave at blizzcon concerning needing more character slots, to start a new account.
I figure there response for more hunter pet slots would be similar, roll another hunter.

Agreed on all accounts. That's why I have several hunters- two 85s on my main realm. They are adding an additional character slot for MOP though, so that will be nice if you have one of everything and you want a monk on your main server as well.

Re: Any news on more stable slots?
Going to take a different approach here...
With Wrath/Cata and the buff/class system, we needed a lot more pets, 25 slots allowed for rares and collecting all the different buffs/classes.
But with MoP, and the consolidation of the buff system, and the changes to the pet trees, I don't think we need 25 anymore. 10 would be more appropriate. Make people actually make choices about their pets, instead of taming everything on the continent.
And since the general desire here is to remove unique rares, you wouldn't need to collect them all anymore. Just go out and grab a new one when you want one.
(I know they won't do this, but it's how I feel in response to the renewed disrespecting of those who want unique rares).

Re: Any news on more stable slots?
I don't know that any one, esp not on this forum, wants to remove unique rares. The people who gravitate here are the ones who tend to like that sort of thing. And it's a bit premature to say exactly how many pets we'll need in MoP since we don't know the details on which pets will have which buffs. That said, this is a game played for fun so fun should always trump mere "need". Even if we end up only needing 10-15 pets A LOT of us will be furious if all the slots we have now are taken away. I don't see that happening though. Blizz is not that dumb.

There are several who are/were quite vocal about making unique rares non-unique, which is probably what Slick's referring to.

True, but it's more about having people have to make some choices.
Tell me the truth, can you remember every pet you have in your 25 stable slots?..

I am one of those people. I've been hunting Loque for 4 years, and have seen him killed/dead 9 times. I am more than willing to give up unique-rares if that means I get a spirit-leopard finally. I love my rares, but that's because I love them, not their uniqueness, and I could bond with any of them regardless of their unique-status. Personally, if you think that a pet becoming non-unique ruins it for you, then you weren't taming the pets for the right reason anyways.Ziarre wrote:There are several who are/were quite vocal about making unique rares non-unique, which is probably what Slick's referring to.

Different people enjoy the game in different ways, so as some people seem to enjoy unique rares, I don't have a problem with them being in game. But personally, I could care less about having rare pets.Sesamee wrote:I don't know that any one, esp not on this forum, wants to remove unique rares. Mentioned it here already, but for Skarr, I tamed for the challenge. Jadefang, I tamed for the rarity. Both will get released in MoP most likely.Gimlion wrote:Personally, if you think that a pet becoming non-unique ruins it for you, then you weren't taming the pets for the right reason anyways.

Re: Any news on more stable slots?
No one's reasons are any more right than anyone else's. Some people like challenges, some people like the pets for themselves. Arguing about it in multiple threads isn't going to make your opinion any more "correct" for anyone else.Slickrock wrote:Mentioned it here already, but for Skarr, I tamed for the challenge. If you're taming for the challenge, then look forward to the next challenge and take solace in that you got <x> pet "the hard way." Keep your favorite trophies rather than every single one in the game. I guarantee that you will not find a hardcore raider or PvPer who's been around since vanilla who has every single raid set or PvP set that they've ever earned. It's the same thing.

I guess my problem is I'm annoyed when I get attacked for daring to say that I'll release a pet if it's made common. But there's not really any point in continuing the discussion.

Re: Any news on more stable slots?
You're entitled to release pets that no longer meet your needs for them. I know I've told you this before, but to expect any other sort of reaction in a place with hunters who truly love their pets for personal reasons is a mistake. You're basically waving a cape at the bull doing that. Should you be getting attacked for voicing that opinion? No, of course not. You're far from the only trophy hunter playing WoW and the "live and let live" mentality applies both ways.Slickrock wrote:Except for Tmogging now...Kalliope wrote:If you're taming for the challenge, then look forward to the next challenge and take solace in that you got <x> pet "the hard way." Basically, based on the number of times this has happened already, expecting anyone to be reasonable is expecting far too much. That's the last I'll be posting on the subject, for whatever that's worth.

Re: Any news on more stable slots?
I like the pet AND the challenge, and I see nothing wrong with that. Say I'm not doing it for the 'right' reasons, call me a special snowflake if you want, but I love the hunt as much as the tame. The effort makes the end result all the sweeter.
For the record, my oldest pet that I would never ever for love nor money part with is not unique, except to me - for the memories I've made with him. *clings to her Griever*

Re: Any news on more stable slots?
I have a few of those patiently waiting in my stable in hopes that they will be usable in my main 5 again. Waiting to see what Blizz gives my armoured boar for it's buff, and waiting to be able to make the undead eagle ferocity.Ziarre wrote:For the record, my oldest pet that I would never ever for love nor money part with is not unique, except to me - for the memories I've made with him. *clings to her Griever*
I think a lot of our stables will be changing up with these new choices.

Agreed! I just want that choice to be from as many slots as I currently have.True, but it's more about having people have to make some choices.![]()
Of course!! I use them all too plus a few I keep in my Rotating Stable. I love swapping out pets as much as I can. Of course I have my favorites and those that are most useful, esp in a raid setting or pvp, but I do actually use each and every pet in my stable on a regular basis.Tell me the truth, can you remember every pet you have in your 25 stable slots?..

Re: Any news on more stable slots?
I really like the idea of unique rares. It makes a certain pet a bit special. My stable is not full of them, I tame pets I like rare or common, but the rares I have I think are really cool and I like them for more than the fact that they're rare. It just adds something to the game for me. Some people couldn't care less, some people will only tame unique rares, some like me fall in the middle. Of my top five favorites pets who will never under any circumstances be released only one is a rare, Loque. The rest are common skins I just really like.Gimlion wrote:I am one of those people. Everyone has their own reasons why they tame pets. It's a game for fun so there are no right or wrong reasons, IMO.

Re: Any news on more stable slots?
Honestly, I don't have any issue with unique rares except the douche-bags that kill them for fun when someone is wanting to tame, and Loque. He's really the apple that spoils the bunch. I've literally found every other tamable unique (and sometimes not unique) rare, besides Ankha, and tamed them tamed, then either kept or released. Each I've found at least once, with many having multiple sightings (including the MF rares, which most I've seen too many times to count). I just wish that I could tame the Snow-Leopard SB skin, and after 4 years, I will tame a common, should one ever come out.Sesamee wrote:I really like the idea of unique rares.
