I tended to be in raids or sleep when it was out, so I kind of missed it. Now I'll have to log in launch day and look up at the night sky.

That whole jive of the Earthmother sending it away for whatever reason, is this actual lore just something said casually to explain it to rabid fans?

Also, Unicron ftw.

Also, Beast Wars Azeroth! There are Maximals and Predacons watching your toon's every move

The Earthmother is tauren lore, however. So in night elven eyes, it could just as easily have to do with Elune. Not to say that either theory is without merit, but one race believing something won't make it true for the rest unless it...is actually shown to happen?

Night Elf lore and Tauren lore generally have the same figures involved. Aka Malorne and Elune(different Tauren name). To be honest I'd HATE if Elune were a Naaru especially since..

Image

Is the known image for Elune and her description is

"It's difficult to make the goddess out through the luminescence that surrounds her, only catching glimpses of alabaster skin and long, pale hair, graceful gossamer robes and a platinum circlet upon her brow. Her eyes are brilliant orbs of pure moonlight, and she smiles peacefully upon her worshippers."

And I really dont think a Naaru mated with Malorne no offense..

I can't find it because it was in one of those Lore Ask threads they did forever and a half ago (I think it was actually a bit before Cata? Maybe?), but it said that Velen had posited the same theory to Tyrande and she had politely asked him to leave. I'm not saying this means Elune is or isn't a Naaru, just thought I'd throw it out there.

Personally I'm a bit dodgy on her being a Naaru. I know there's a first time for everything, but we've never heard of Naaru reproducing before, and Cenarius is her son. Aviana was her messenger because she couldn't speak with Cenarius herself, because she couldn't come to Earth. We've seen the Naaru chiming around among mortals, so if she were a Naaru, that wouldn't be keeping her in the sky. I think that Malorne had to go to her, as well, not vice versa, though it's been awhile seen I fumbled with lore. That's just what I can recall off the top of my head. Take it with a grain of salt.

It's not so much that she asked him to leave, more that she asked him to not air that theory in her temple.
