I has an angry....

Unread post by Slickrock »

So last night after DS I talk my horde guild raid group into doing a little bit of Ulduar to get them some achieves, and perhaps get the Ulduar guns for me.

So we spend almost 20 minutes trying to 10-man the 25-man hard mode for achieves, so a lot of wasted time there.

Then they refuse to do Ignus or Razorscale (or rather don't listen because someone is spamming the Nerf Scrapbots achieve, which precludes doing XT hardmode, which means the gun can't drop from XT) and they fail at doing that XT acheive.

Then everyone leaves.

I am still so pissed. I'm DONE doing anything remotely close to helping them get any achieves.

Yep. I've had similar experiences - if you're not running it with friends, the best you can do is talk to the raid leader in advance (or whoever seems to be "in charge" e.g. loudest / most popular, if it's a random thing), and get on the same page about what you are after.

I find it helps to say it at least 3 times (not being sarcastic) - each time you say it you seem to improve your chance of it actually happening by about 25%...

And ofc the cardinal rule - if at all possible, get your thing out of the way first and take nothing on faith unless strictly necessary.

Yeah, definitely have to agree with Worba on the whole friends thing... There was only one pug raid I was in for Ulduar that actually went relatively well. There were some screw-ups here and there, and some people started whining about not going fast enough, but it at least was fully finished.

That was the ONLY raid - no, group - that I've been in and/or seen so far that doesn't dissolve into pretty much the same thing that you experienced, unless it was all people we already know/knew.

I would suggest signing up with a raid specifically for achieves at www.openraid.us

If it makes you feel any better, you can do Ulduar easily with only 5 people; some friends and I have been farming it for cheevos and gear for awhile now and you just need one tank, one healer, and some good, nonstupid dps of any variety. Makes it a little easier to do things people want done. We usually punch Sarth3D too... the plan is to get everyone their black drake eventually.

I finally got my pally that gorgeous sword off Yoggy last time, Abbadon. http://www.wowhead.com/item=46016

someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket
