When you ask for support, you're going to have people that give their reason for saying no. For many people, that reason is the lore. Not really a way to avoid that, imo.zedxrgal wrote:Am I the only one who thinks pandas should be allowed to be death knight???
Yes I know that doesn't follow lore, the story etc but I think a panda death knight would be extremely cool!!

And my statement still stands, I personally still don't want them to be DKs. It just doesn't seem right to me.

Just because people don't share your opinion doesn't mean you have to belittle it. (Theirs, or your own)

Pyrewood iirc?Jessibelle wrote:Well to be fair, they're only feasible because of the fact Arthas did run into them(or atleast his army did) so he could raise and 'tame them' to do his bidding. The lore dictates they're not the ones directly from Gilneas. It would destroy their lore and also the lore of the DKs. The only reason worgens and goblins were permitted was because they both were around since the beginning of WoW, which made it feasible. The only Pandaren seen since Arthas's reign was Chen. All other Pandaren stayed on the wandering isle or pandaria. Arthas never saw either of those nor ever met a pandaren and I don't believe Chen ever went to Northrend.

And considering how several races have already had new class combo's added to them, I dont see why blizz just doesnt toss the restrictions on class/race for the game.
People who want to follow the lore can do that, and people who just want to play the game with the class/race they want can as well. but thats just my opinion.

Re: Panda Death Knight
There's an integrity when it comes to proper storytelling in a game. Sure, there are things that happen that clearly wouldn't happen in a "real" world. But when it comes to the lore and characters being presented within that world, there's a sense of grounded reality that exists. You don't see Varian queuing for battlegrounds, after all.Makoes wrote:Personally I think that players should be allowed to play any race/class that they like. Most of the actual lore is only in the books anyways, and people standing around in cities waiting for a magical "que" to pop and whisk them away to a dungeon isnt in any books i've read before, there is a lot of stuff in the Game itself that doesnt follow lore, or is a "modified" version of the lore.

Sometimes, that more grounded reality within the fantasy applies to the players, just to keep us tethered to the realities of the world we're in. It's a fine line to walk, and it can bother some players, but every game has its own quirks and limitations that make it different than other games.

I'm not pissed off at all or taking it too personally. You're being just as guilty! It just looked like you were trying to belittle it since no one else agreed.
Road goes both way my friend.

Re: Panda Death Knight
Just to be clear I'll restate my non-lore objection to the idea:
DKs were the face of WotLK
Pandas are the face of MoP
Combining the two makes both somewhat muddled / less distinct, and thereby reducing overall impact; not really a big deal for WotLK but for an upcoming xpac this is non-incidental.

Re: Panda Death Knight
Blizzard has been known to lighten the reins a little a certain time after the release of an expack.
I don't honestly care about the lore once I'm level 85 (or 90, as MoP will have us). The lore was fun while I was playing. It was fun as I was doing quests and advancing through the story.
Once that's done, I don't really care anymore. And I suspect the vast majority of WoW players probably aren't that stuck on absolute accuracy regarding lore in the game.

After all that I don't really care how they try and justify class/race things. Panda DKs? Wouldn't faze me.

After all that I don't really care how they try and justify class/race things. Panda DKs? Wouldn't faze me.They WERE related to Eredar after all and can be shadow priests.(I'm just saying this because warlock armor looks amazing on a draenei and I always wanted a draenei warlock. xD)
Re: Panda Death Knight
Re: Panda Death Knight
It's not a lack of ability, it's a cultural thing. And it's precisely because of the Eredar. Any Draenei that started summoning demons would become an outcast from their society and so not fit into the normal player progression storyline. Of course Draenei have to consort with other warlocks during the game, but that has to be one of those things that have to be ignored for convenienceMozag wrote:Oh I hear ya there! Besides, imagine if you were a draenei warlock and you summoned your cousin or something. How embarrassing.
