I looked musk oxen up and it turns out they are actually related to goats sheep -- they headbutt during mating season just like bighorn rams. But, they have their own genus, ovibos, which means "sheep-ox."

This is nice.
I like WoW yaks because they're basically musk oxen with the horns turned up. Real yaks are basically hairy cattle.

Sorry guys, it turns out they were mistakes and not meant to be tameable. I have word they've been fixed and will no longer be tameable soon.

Can you post what exactly was said in response to that? Are there any hints?
Like "Those specific mobs were never meant to be tameable, and were accidentally classified as different pet families. We have no plans to make these tameable for now."
Anything for a bit of hope...

Re: [question]Yak in goat family in newest patch?
Just that they were accidents due to tameable creatures from other families being turned into those beasts. And that they were fixed (which we may not see live for a patch or two). It's pretty straightforward in that respect. It doesn't mean they *couldn't* be made tameable yet, but they obviously don't intend them to be currently.
