Catnip, if you tamed him previously, that means nothing. You had to of tamed him like...today. If you already had it, he's gonna have it.

Those ghost jormungars actually change; it's not a temporary spell effect.Bristlenose wrote:Went and checked. They still do.snipeypants wrote:I was just curious if the ghost jormungars still work. From the sons of hodir daily quest were you feed them to a ice giant.

I didn't think they were but being altered from the normal appearance it was possible they got swept up in it.

It's good that you were thorough, don't get me wrong.Bristlenose wrote:I didn't think they were but being altered from the normal appearance it was possible they got swept up in it.

It's just that these worms change out completely when they switch to the ghost skin rather than have some sort of spell effect applied to them that makes them look ghostly. Meaning no chance of change.

I'm just clarifying the difference to a) reassure any ghost jormy owners who might be concerned about their pet's future and b) explain to those who might not understand why these worms are an "exception" (because they're not an exception at all; they're an entirely different kind of tame).

Yeah, someone asked though, I had a spare slot open to test it and verified it just to be sure. I wouldn't want to tell someone they were still ghostly and then come to find out they weren't anymore. It does remind me of the old spirit wolves though, the one from the Tauren starter zone. They were temporary "ghost" animals but could be tamed. Not the same thing but for the ghostly aspect of the animals. Much like Karoma and the other spirit beasts. Really wish I'd have had a chance at them all those years ago.

I got one just now after 6~7 tames. The time it worked I thought it failed so I went about taming another one and it said I already had a summoned pet so I relogged and logged in and there he was.

Got my angered several months ago actually, was the timing... however I am saddened that the oiled wolf is no longer obtainable, I was blessed to find a GM to restore my "Fippy" aka from Everquest Fippy Darkpaw of course!, so now he will be stabled with my other pets. I also have the flaming boar on both of my hunters.
Anyone else get a little worried & not use their cosmetic pets very much 'just in case' the 'look' gets removed?

If it gets removed then I don't see much point in keeping it stabled. It would be like having an awesome toy you never play with or a tool that never gets used. If I collect a pet I try to rotate it into use at some point.

I use my oil wolves often. If it was meant for the appearance buff to be removed then so be it. Yes I'll be upset but ................... that doesn't mean the wolf will go any less unused.

Those guys were always a straight tame, you merely needed to be in the right phase/on the right quest. No taming tricks involved.

I can confirm beyond almost any doubt that at least the Armored Battleboar has been fixed.
Spent 4 hours on him today, had numerous successful-looking despawns and one that was so on the button that even as the boars corpse lay in front of me, a boar pet spawned by my side.

I can confirm that as of 2nd July 2012 the Angered Arakkoa Protector with the Blue Mist Aura is still obtainable with despawn method, I just got mine a few mins ago
I tried about 150 Oil-Stained wolved today using as many methods as I could possibly try to no avail. Not once did it despawn it was either dead or tamed and I was sure of about 20-30 that it was tamed exactly at the right moment both by using the 2 man method and the despawning of the quest item. Very frustrating, people say it's still under speculation there's still alot of comments on Youtube dating back only 1 month saying they have obtained the pet recently. I have to say though that today my latency has been a tad higher than usual, dunno if that may have had an impact but makes me sad nevertheless. Seems a bit strange that IF the Oil was fixed why this would still work. Still optimistic that there would be a very slim chance for it to work ;P But untill someone can confirm, it's very annoying!!
Screenie of my new birdy, Mist, with confirmed time and date

*spouts many hot and vicious cuss words*
i had just made a new worgen hunter to try alliance for a change and i wanted this flaming boar on him for the totally awesomeness it would be for him.
Damn those guilds AND the individuals who gave in to the guilds whining and probable threats they got to obtain those pets with the damage buffs to em. i hope they got a perma ban on their accounts for doing this.
i agree that the pets that have that ability should just become untamable
the few fun and real challenge tames imo taken away because of .. *blanky blanks*
grrrrr *and kicks at rocks on the ground*

Nuts. I was hoping the revive method still worked. I changed my Blood Elf hunter to be a drinker, so I wanted to tame the Slit Crawler with the bottle.

Wait...Rawr....Are you telling me that you've managed to get an Oil-stained Wolf AFTER April, 2012?
If so, then I can take it off the unobtainable list. I simply put it on there because I had tried every method with no success multiple times. I assumed if the angered arrakao protector could still be tamed with the glow via despawn, then the oil wolf could be too. But no one has had success so far. Up until now that is. If you got it to work again, than this is GREAT!

Re: EDITED: Appearance Buff Pets now RETIRED. Facts/Explanat
Took me like 30 tries but I had one of those worgs in my stable with me already and had a friend 1-shot it then rezed for just a second it before it lvled (not a full rez) then logged out then back in.
