Yay, 150 Pets!!

So I've spent the last couple months, whenever I have spare time, just grinding minipets I didn't have. I tackled the dragon whelplings starting around a year ago, and winded up grinding a Dark and an Emerald Whelpling. Found an Azure on AH for 4k (WOW!!) and grinded myself, after many frustrating days, a Tiny Crimson Whelpling (along with two more Darks to sell... derp).

While working on The Insane on my rogue (stuck on junkboxes, yeugh) and grinding the goblins in STV, I farmed up not one but two Hyacinth Macaws and a spare Razzashi Hatchling. So that was the Macaw learned! I grinded a couple thousand Fireflies in Zangarmarsh, for two or three days straight, until that pesky Firefly dropped, too. The Fox Kit, Disgusting Oozeling and the Gun'Drak hatchling took a ton of kills apiece as well.

The day before yesterday I finally got--after around 3500 wild horse kills and God knows how many Stormpike Engineers grinded--my Black Tabby. This is one I've been after for years and never got it, even when it was dropped by the rare Dalaran NPC, aside from on an alt that got deleted

So for the last few days I've been getting gold and buying a few of the Tournament pets, as well as earning one myself, and buying all the DMF items off the AH to turn in for extra tickets. Two Darkmoon pets later...

So I'm gonna show off my collection briefly, because although I know it pales in comparison with many others', I worked hard on this damn it! With 151 minipets, it's probably easier to list what I DON'T have. I'm "missing" one or two DMF pets yet, as well as a few of the Tournament ones. I also don't have the Claw from Tol'Vir, nor the Pet Store pets (bar the golden Soul of the Aspects a friend bought me!), nor any CE pets. But all zone drops, dungeon drops (bar Ice Chip), most of the seasonal pets, all faction pets, most Archaeology, the crafted ones, all (bar one Croc) of the Fishing pets, the Kirin Tor familiar, Lashtail Hatchling, Singing Sunflower, Pebble, old yearly Blizzard pets, etc etc are all mine. Really feels like Pokemon at times... down to the number

Don't feel embarrassed; I'm a crazed mini pet collector too, lol. I started collecting a little over 6 years ago and I have 159 at the moment on my pet/mount collector. That number will be 164 once Mists launches because my old main has Spirit of Competition, Hyacinth Macaw, and Strand Crawler (it refuses to drop on my collector after 4 years of trying for it); and my undead hunter has Ice Chip.

Congrats, you're much more dedicated than me; I ended up buying most of the rare drop pets on the AH (and they were Much cheaper back in BC!)

And yeah, Corpsebryde, if I'm still playing when MoP launches (BIG if there), I'll have a load more from alts, too. I know the Spirit of Competition, Ice Chip, Vampiric Batling and a few of the Tournament pets I don't have are on alts. Still not 164, though--that's impressive!

Me? I have the sunflower, & love the little thing. I wish I had more reason to use mini-pets, actually--I mostly PvP, and the "vanishing" of pets when you camo is iffy at best, so I have to leave them away

Oh gotcha, i misread it. Do you have some sort of macro that pulls out a random mini-pet? I remember there used to be a "random mount" macro that I had at one point, it would be interesting with a random mini-pet

I use the RandomCompanion add-on, which does both random mini-pets and random mounts. But with the interface changing completely, I'm not sure what add-on I'll be using in 5.0
Maybe by the time the PTR is up and running, there will be random summoning add-ons to try out.

I don't, actually! I don't use minipets very often because I forget them in PvP, so when I camo, they're visible (they're not SUPPOSED to be--some of them are meant to vanish when you stealth--but they are).

When I DO use a pet, it usually matches my current transmog.

My favorites, in general, are the Dark Whelpling (love black dragons!!) and the Lashtail Hatchling (dat storyline--she's my baby!).

I have this macro that I've used since BC. It summons a random mini pet and will shout out the name of the pet when it's summoned too:
