Unread post by Snowy »

Hello and welcome to Everdeen's journal of rare and interesting mounts! The reason I made this? Because I LOVE rare and unique mounts! I love to camp for them or do dungeon runs for them, whatever it takes to get my hands on some yummy looking mounts. :3 I'll be using this journal to record my runs and camping stories, so if you're interested at all, please leave a comment!

I do test alerts just to make sure the sound is on :D

Good luck on your hunt! I did it on FW EU a few months ago, and Aeonaxx was quite generous with showing himself. Don't lose hope, and grab him soon!

And if anyone was wondering what my transmog set looks like/for the sake of showing it off...

With my matching warp stalker, Cinder. I always use her for soloing dungeons and raids and so I thought I'd make a set to match with her. :3

I've currently paused camping so I can rep grind for the Mag'har for the talbuk mounts. Another thing I've wanted to do for a while but stalled on. I've gotta stop stalling! xD

Whoot, getting exalted didn't take long at all. :3 I farmed 100 beads each time and I believe it only took four turn-ins after completing all the Mag'har reputation-related quests I could find.

... And now for the long, annoying grind for the two black talbuks, since the crystal powder's droprate is way less than the beads. I got 155 powders so far. I need 350. >:

Good luck with Aeonaxx. I've been camping him for over a month now. Roughly 10 hours a day. I've only "seen him" twice. First time I spawn, I decided to log off earlier than usual. I didn't shut my laptop down, but instead closed it since it'll go into sleep mode in 5 minutes. Lo and behold, when I woke the next morning, he was cached in. The twice time, I decided to take a quick shower. I come out to see Aeonaxx engaged.

Honestly, the amount of time I've spent camping this guy, I'm extremely disheartened, but fairly sttuborn. I refuse to actually play this game until Aeonaxx spawns.

Everdeen wrote:I've been holding this off for so, so long now... Too long. I've read absolute horror stories about Aeonaxx camping, about how people either see so many spawns but never manage to catch it themselves or how they wait and wait and wait and yet somehow never see him until months later... Each time I read a story like that, it puts me off camping even more. But now it's the summer holiday and I'm not going anywhere special just yet and I want this mount so damn much. Not only do I love it and it's colour scheme but it would match *perfectly* with my current transmog set. So when I finished off the set the other day I told myself that that was it, I've had enough stalling, I'm going for this mount now.

So here I am, in Deepholm, sitting calmly on my Ironbound Proto-Drake in front of the NW1 spawn point. I started last night and camped maybe six hours or so. Since I'm still doing raid runs weekly and Raven Lord/Blue Proto-Drake runs daily and doing some other things here and there (Including getting out of the house!), I'll mostly be doing evening camps, so it's not something I'll trouble myself with all day, every day. Besides, I haven't seen any other campers around as of yet. I used to do fly-bys sometimes and would almost always see some dedicated poor soul out on his Time-Lost Proto-Drake. But for now, Deepholm seems so quiet... Not that I want it to be quiet really. I'm waiting for those war drums to sound and inevitabley scare the shite out of me...

Does anyone else ever purposely go to their NPC Scan options and do a test alert? I have no idea why, but it gives me some kind of strange thrill when I do it. I hope I'm not the only one!
Deepholm always seemed quiet to me too--I started questing in that area asap because of Aeonaxx. I got him a month after I started questing there (finished the quests, then headed back to camp). I decided that it would be best for me to camp him (by definition just sitting there in one spot) when I was working since I work from home and it's not actually wasting any valuable time of mine...but other times, when I wanted to play WoW, I would do hourly patrols. I ended up getting him after a dungeon ended. Really close call! But because I was doing the patrols, that's what made it happen. Because as soon as I got back from the dungeon (I had been parked in Deepholm) I did a patrol, and boom! ;o) I realized why Deepholm is sorta quiet...I think because a lot of it is phased so you don't really see the people starting questing there. Camping for the TLPD is beyond dull. Because you literally HAVE to stay on a spawn point. There are so many that it makes it so difficult and takes SO long, which is probably why I never got him--but I have gotten Aeonaxx and Poseidus. Mainly because they're the kind you can patrol for. I still camp TLPD once in a while when I'm working, but meh. I saw him dead once, missed him by 30 minutes and that sort of bugged me out. ;o)

My best advice for people camping Aeonaxx (specifically him, not other rares really) is to figure out what date/time they got him. Every person I saw with the Phos drake, I asked that question...and oddly enough, I got the same two days...which on my server was Sunday and Monday, once in a while on a Tuesday (early AM). So, I MADE SURE to camp hardcore those specific dates and was able to slack off other days. I also think it's important to camp hardcore on non-peak times like holidays, because less people = a better chance. ;o) I got Aeonaxx on Christmas morning around 4am! In fact, I had been camping so hard the week of Christmas, I did not get any of the Winter-veil achievements at all...because I didn't want to waste time away from Deepholm (people camp less during holidays because of all the work for achievements). I really hope this information helps. It's such a freakin' amazing fight with Aeonaxx once you catch him! Good luck to you!!! ;o)

PS--Yes, I definitely would trigger the npcscan sound, because it is delicious--haha.

Thanks for the advice! But I'm not trying to trouble myself with worry about when he last spawned, when I should camp, etc. I did that while camping for TLPD and I wasn't even sleeping well because I was so worried he would spawn while I was offline and not camping. And whenever I was on WoW, I *had* to be camping, I wouldn't let myself do anything else. And heck, I still don't have TLPD. I realised how much stress it was causing me and gave up. I'll go back to it one day, but I realised I want the PSD a lot more than TLPD. But this time I refuse to stress out about it. I refuse to force myself to camp and potentially ruin my entire summer holiday looking for him. No, even if it takes years, I'll sit in the evening or whenever I feel like in Deepholm and watch a few films or something. I've been re-capping on the Ice Age films the last two nights because I plan to see the new one and haven't seen the others for years. So while I watched them, I camped. And I haven't been stressing out, I haven't been questioning everyone I see, I'm just taking it casual. I'll just hope that he decides to one day spawn close to where I camp. (Where I camp, I can't see Blood Seeker spawns. Some people might think that's a bad idea, but the place I camp is one of the best for seeing as many of the Aeonaxx spawn points as possible. Besides, if NPC Scan goes off, I want that to mean that it's definitely Aeonaxx. I'm not close enough to the edge to see Xariona apparently. The only way I could be tricked is if someone with a tamed Jadefang walks underneath me or something.)

So, yeah, casual camping while I also aim for the two black talbuks, netherdrakes and nether rays. We'll see how this goes!

Oh lol. I had a dream last night that made me laugh when I woke up.

I found Aeonaxx on a whim, killed him and forgot to loot the corpse. And when I realised, I rushed back and he despawned right as I got there.

Thanks. (: I got the Dark Riding Talbuk as well, just to add to the mount collection, which is why grinding the tokens took so long, hehe. Never have to do that again! x___x

Next I think I'll work on Cenarion Expedition rep. My boyfriend is doing that at the moment and I'll be jealous of his hippogryph so I have to get it too. Today I'll be doing my 49th Raven Lord run and my 20th Blue Proto-Drake run, no luck on them at all so far. I'm on my 8th (I believe) run for the Twilight Drake, I lose the mount roll every single time. And I have no idea how many Karazhan runs I've done for the Fiery Warhorse, way too many to remember! I'm still camping for Aeonaxx in the evenings mind you! I've been playing Pokemon White which is such a good time waster. (:

Got my Cenarion War Hippogryph yesterday. It's nice to be using a smaller mount for a change. And I love the hippogryph idle animations. (:

Hey congrats on the Black Talbuks and the Cenarion Hippogryff! I'm on a PVE server with a VERY dead Horde side so I can't imagine how long it'll take me to get enough stuff for the Talbuks.

As for Aeonaxx, I got mines today and I wanted to share any luck I might still have with someone and saw your thread. :) I wish you the best of luck and you're using one of the best camping methods ever, playing Pokemon! :p

My experience with Deepholm when it wasn't quiet were not good usually. Had a horde merge with my toon completely, as in sit in the exact spot I was in which always gets on my nerves and the worst thing was when someone asked for my help on Aeonaxx. I'm always willing to share information with anyone who asks but this person, after beeding me dry of all info came back on at a later day and didn't leave the spot I had been in for hours and hours. They even flew around my head making flapping noises while I was trying to watch something and that was also distracting.

Well that's as bad as it gets on PVE servers, :p not too bad but enough to put me off hunting for a bit! WELL worth the effort though xD especially for your lovely transmog!

Hope he spawns soon and without any competition! <3

Aww thanks a lot. :3 Camping has recently become a tad more difficult since yesterday because I decided to complete all the quests in Deepholm so I wasn't in the first phase anymore. And since I'm now in the phase that most others are in, I've noticed there's a lot more people camping a lot of the time... Including someone who was actually camping *right* in front of me, only I didn't know, because they were in another phase until now. So I dunno if I should camp somewhere else and have less of a chance of seeing a spawn (Since I whispered this guy and he refuses to talk to me...) or just wait until he's done and I can go back to my spot another time. Of course I haven't seen any Blood Seeker spawns, since I'm not sitting on an exact spawn point, and I've yet to see Aeonaxx at all.

And I did see your post yesterday on the mount thread! But I was too tired to comment, haha. But congratulations on him! I wish I could get a lucky fly-by like you did. >___<

If there's someone who doesn't move, and you see that other spots are free, give in and move :) You only do yourself a favour. You can't predict where he will spawn, so you just make it more likely that you'll get him if he decides to spawn near you.

Goodluck :)
