TLPD/Aeonaxxresource.com (clarification) Need MoP coworkers

Ponderance just asked me if I want to take over the sites... I suggested some other people but I guess none are interested. Aaah! I have no idea how to manage a site... and this one is pretty extensive... I don't know how much work it entails, I am by no means a website guru... I am happy I can already manage my little blog. Halp plx.

On the other hand, it doesn't seem like there's a new TLPD/Aeonaxx in Mists, only Alani who we don't know too much about yet, so it's a matter of just keeping everything working... oh dear... I don't want to see the site go down, countless of hours have gone into it and so are people who found their rare beasts from it. I'm just a bit overwhelmed.

Essentially, what Ponderance wants is someone to test theories and confirm them, not just base information on what others experienced, but try to prove them before putting the information out in the open.
So far, with all that we have discovered, I was wondering if anyone was interested in working together with this, in keeping updated info on all the rares that drop mounts. I'll be doing it because it's one of my biggest interests in wow, but I think a lot of you feel the same.

Also, the forum is going to stay in good hands by Rabmg who is moderating it now. So all we need to do is find things, confirm them ourselves and only when we're sure that what we find out is true, put it on the site (or maybe Ponderance is ok doing it in our name.

I have no idea how to run websites at all, I have no knowledge in that department, but by all means, I'd be willing to help. I already talked to Ponderance on his Not So Rare Facebook page about it a while ago and he said he'll still be around, trying to help, but he can't run it like he used to anymore.

I have tons of interest in these TLPD-like rares and, even though I don't have time to be camping them 24/7 and I often find lots of other things on WoW I also like to do, I love looking up what people have found out to do with these rares by themselves in the Wowhead comments and such. For example, I've recently noticed a lot of people talking about phasing issues once more when it comes to Aeonaxx. One comment I found said that a guy was camping Aeonaxx with a friend and his friend's NPC Scanner alerted him to Aeonaxx and he could see it, but he himself couldn't, and they were in two different phases. His friend had done all the quests in Deepholm and he hadn't. That's what encouraged me yesterday (As I mentioned in my journal already.) to finish a bunch of Deepholm quests, because I was worried about current phasing issues and whether it might affect my chances of finding Aeonaxx while I had time to camp. I've also noticed that people who are clever enough to get their friends to go and kill a bunch of rares in Northrend for them tend to get their Time-Lost Proto-Drakes quick and easy, since killing other rares seems to drag the timer down massively. And god, I'm always looking at new TLPD/Aeonaxx videos on YouTube, regardless of whether or not I'm currently camping. It always seemed to interest me a great deal.

But, besides my showing-off of how much of an interest I take in this, as I said, I'll be willing to help with info or anything as much as possible if needed. (:

Edit: Oh, and I'm pretty damn sure Alani will be the new rare. I see no other reason why she would be there, classed as a rare, and needing an item to take her down. But, as Meggers said, Galleon might be as well. Although I doubt a lot of people would actually camp for him because we'll need a huge group to take him down, so even if you do camp for him, the chances of getting the mount are pretty slim. He'd be something people might look out for a lot in trade chat though, for example, since people will be trying to create groups for him.

As far as I know, the world bosses are becoming a "pitch in" sorta deal where anyone can join in against them and get a roll on their loot tables when they go down. Therefore, you should be able to camp near his spot and wait for another group to attack him and just help them, but it does mean the mount is not a 100% drop for anyone in the party (I'd imagine it must be a reasonably high chance of getting the mount though since you have to go through the hassle of waiting for it to spawn).

Oh that sounds like a good idea. :3 People will whine about it no doubt, claiming people are 'stealing' their loot, but it will make it easier over all if people can just chip in. Plus it's not like it announces to the whole game that Galleon is up, if people are there and want to join in, they can. So there probably won't be MILLIONS of people all rolling on one mount drop. I like this idea... ANOTHER.

I could think of no one better to track rares down than you. You can do is Sam. You don't have to be as nuts to have 4 accounts camping 4 different TLPD spawn points for multiple weeks straight like Pond did as I recall (i wondered if he was ever NOT in stormpeaks in WOTLK). I'm sure you can also get help with making a couple Forum Moderators out of some of the more helpful people on tlpdresource's forums to help you out as well.

I think you're onto something with Alani, keep it up


You can probably get the forums to be "mostly" self-sufficient with appointing the right mods, and just post new updates as you find em about the other new mount-related rares.

Sidenote, I updated the wowhead comments for the Skyshard. Someone on MMO champ was given a Skyshard from a GM, and it indeed took down Alani's Nimbus cloud to make her attackable. (she didn't drop anything though, probably wasn't implemented yet)

Thanks Royi. This was before the thundering cloud serpent joined the beta, so maybe if this happens again, we can confirm that it drops from her. But I know someone who got two shards, and he's busy trying to get more, bless him. I'm so curious

well, that's mostly right. But I want to shift to casually playing WoW... Mainly because as it stands I'm gone for the vast majority of the day M-F for the foreseeable future, and on weekends we tend to go out a hell of a lot since we have an abundance of money from the job I have now. I hate to say being technically unemployed (besides graphic design jobs and some light web design for a while) is why I ended up shifting my workaholicness into tearing after all I could learn about TLPD. Aeonaxx/Camel/Poseidus was more because of a certain person's guilt tripping me hardcore the night the servers went down for the shattering. I wasn't even going to do that...

But over all actually, I would push myself so hard to get the information and confirm the information I could find or otherwise figure out that I was getting physically ill several times... I will spare the details.

So it's not just help verifying, rounding up information and doing the mass of legwork to verify and re-verify every little thing to find out what's real and false... but I don't want to have to do the .... customer support? essentially? that has gone along with running it... I mean, don't get me wrong, clearly I love to help because I've done all I could to never have advertising. And I've never even considered a pay for access for tips or any shit like that.

Plus if I ever manage to quit wow I don't want to have all this around me, all the conversations that go along with it, that just get my mouth wet wanting to bite back in. Know what I mean?

Thanks for posting here Eric and clarifying the situation. I'm happy help out as much as I can. From September I will also have a job (teaching biology, whee), and was in the same situation before doing some illustration commissions, and I'm glad you got a job and can do fun stuff on the weekends. So I'm trying to do most of the MoP stuff now that the spawn timers are so high.
What do you mean by the customer support thing? I assumed all the questions mostly go through the forum.

i appreciate that i'm just glad i was able to contribute to 4 different mounts while i had the time

i've lost about 50lb since a year ago when i pretty much retired from hardcore camping. granted, it took me about 6 years to gain that (lots of partying and heavy drinking - giving up drinking and taking up wow (BARHOPPING IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN 3 WOW SUBSCRIPTIONS A MONTH.) was a great health choice pre-camping ) .. i plan on losing another 50 or 60 before i'm done

i figure, if nobody i am comfortable with giving the sites control to comes around, i'll probably go the best information gathered route and go from there. i'm sure i'll be camping one of each out myself, for sure. but one of each is a tiny fraction of ...... well, you know.

Oh wow, I didn't know you were on the forums! While I don't know how useful I can be in testing, if I note something odd, I'll try to make sure it's known (as somehow I have talked myself into camping Aeonaxx, and am interested in Alani). It's the least I can do for a site that has been invaluably informative and a lot easier to process than trying to pick through a million Wowhead comments--and a site that helped me finally find TLPD again after my didn't-know-jack fumble-and-splat back in Wrath.

yeah, the site exists because if half the things on wowhead about tlpd, camel, anything... were true... the other half couldn't be true.

so yeah. i felt i had to once i understood all the truth
