Chimaeron, you better become tameable with them.
IMHO, Chimaeron is extremely cute... in an ugly way, you know?

But what I do want to know, is Chimaeron even classified as a beast (AFAIK, he is, but this was before hydras were given a family...), and if he is, is he in the hydra family?
Even if he is, he might not become tameable, but it's definitaly a better chance then him not being in the family at all, yes?
I mean, they did it with corehounds, why not Hydras :D?

You may be right. I could easily this guy becoming an exception to the rule. Though I hope it won't be the case.

I desperately want him for Synestra as a pet someday so I'll continue to pay homage to the Blizzard dieties with offerings of cookies and other deliciousness til he and the other hydras in the game become tamable!

Hmm, I suppose there might be a chance should we ever get Hydras. It seems similar to Chromaggus to me. Very different in appearance from other models of the same family, but a cool unique option.

I shudder at the thought of taming him though. xD

Yeah ,personally I'd have to dissent on this one, though I can appreciate other people love him. For me he looks like a pile of dragon parts that were literally chopped up and reassembled in something the shape of a hydra. He even shows the stitch marks still. More like the dragon form of an Abomination. But that's just me :)

I'm honestly not enthralled by the idea of hydra pets, but hey, if this is your bag then more power to you. I'm more interested in his name, or really the subtext his name implies... Now, I know that there technically are 'chimera' in the game, the dual head, furred, fanged and scaled monstrosities we all love to hog up PVP with. That's not what I'm interested in. What I want is this.

True chimera!
Image
(technically, Orthrus, brother to chimera)
Image
(technically, a Barong, not related, just cute)

...and to a lesser extent, Sphinx. I couldn't find a bitchin' picture, sorry! Even though I'm slightly burnt out on cat-model creatures, I think I could make an exception for either a Grecian or Egyptian Sphynx. And btw, chimera, orthrus, cerberus and sphynx are siblings. ;)

EDIT - found a sphynx.
