Am I Really This Hopeless?
So... I was flying around Sholazar Basin simply because I was bored. I thought I might find Aotona... Maybe.... But rare hunting was not why I was there... At least this time...
But as I was flying, there he was... The real reason why any hunter is in Sholazar. Loque'nahak. I actually saw him several seconds before my NPC scanner even went off.
In the past, I'd spent weeks... MONTHS hunting this beautiful tame. But those months spent camping him ended long ago when I finally claimed the tame. I never thought I'd be lucky enough to see him in the wild again, especially at random. But there he was.
I quickly /who'd to see if any other hunter were in the area, camping him. There were none.
So I took the time and who'd every zone in Northrend. To my surprise, there were no hunters at all in Northrend at the time.
So I /who'd hunters in Orgrimmar. Only 3 hunters were on. None responded to my whispers. it seemed that for the first time on my server, there was no Hunter who was interested in Loque at the time he was up.
In a way, I felt sad. When I was leveling my own hunter years ago, rares like Loque were my DRIVE. They were the reason I loved the Hunter class and it's pet taming subculture. I couldn't just leave this beautiful animal there with this 85 Warrior nearby slaughtering all mobs in his path. Killing Loque for the achievement was out of the question. I couldn't bring myself to do it...
So I tamed him.... I tamed a second Loque'nahak. Now I have two, in an already tight stable. I rationalized it by having two Loques of different specs come MoP. But we all know how paper thin that rational is.
I made an honest effort to make some fledging Hunter a very happy tamer. But it was for naught. Am I really this hopeless?

It's ok
You saved it from mindless slaughter and tried everything. I'd have done the same. In fact, I have... with Madexx

I totally understand the impulse to "save" it. Anymore, I usually just kill them if there's no one around (sorry!), but I used to be the same way about it. So, I don't think you're hopeless or pathetic

I've done the same. With King Krush.
I now has two Dinos. One loves me....
the other..... He doesn't like me so much

In honor of both the circumstances in which he was found, and of MoP, I have named the 2nd Loque "Sifu". Chinese for "Master" or "Teacher".

Re: Am I Really This Hopeless?
I remember taming myself a boar with armor and a few minutes later another one of the "naked" type, so I could have him in "battle gear" and "RP gear".
Sometimes, we hunters are kind of strange...
But that's what makes a good hunter!
Everyone can cast spells. But do you love your spells? Nah!
But you gotta love your companion(s).

I usually just shoot them if I can't find a tamer. :I I make an effort, I really do, but I LOVE fur, I LIVE for fur. After all, isn't there a woman in all this wretched world who doesn't?
