I Am Losing My Mind - The Aeonaxx Camp (HOLY #$%& DONE.)

Well, a horse kicked me in the right wrist (got caught in the crossfire of an equine argument, not intentional). Not broken, but will probably bruise like hell. Got it wrapped in an Ace bandage...looks like not much to do with my online time BUT camp until it feels better.

Stayed up until 3am server time on a mix of leftover pain-adrenaline from the accident and caffeine, then took a much-needed 45min nap. Didn't quite feel like enough...but...something kept me awake, kept me going. Something more than just caffeine. I start daring to hope that tonight (or, well, this morning technically) is the night. Despite that, I knew gut feelings came to nothing as often as not, so I set myself a limit when I felt my endurance flagging too much at last.

6am server, I told myself. If nothing has spawned, I will sleep, and I will try again later in the day.

The minutes of that last hour tick by so slowly. The clock turns to 6am with no sign of Blood Seeker or Aeonaxx. I barely begin to take a last lap around the spawn points before logging off. NPCScan blares.

It's Aeonaxx.

I stare at the alert, stunned, for half a heartbeat that seems to go on forever before targeting. Nothing to the right, nothing ahead--there, to the left! I dive, praying that moment of hesitation doesn't cost me my chance at redeeming this night. I reach him, I right click the curved arrow...it works. It actually works.

I tag him as quickly as I can...but then, I'm torn. Do I relish the experience, knowing it would be selfish in the extreme to capture him again with account-wide mounts impending? Do I down him quickly lest fate deal me a cruel turn and crash or disconnect me and crush my elation? I've had RAM issues all day. I think I've removed the bad sticks, but I'm not certain. I decide it's not worth the risk, and all too soon Aeonaxx falls--a mere minute after he spawns. I loot, and I breathe a sigh of relief. No trick of fate, this time.

I send a mail to a fellow camper I'd struck up some conversations with during my camp, telling him the spawn time. I return to alternately staring in stunned awe at the drake I haven't dismounted from for more than a second yet, and typing this post. ...Well, okay, and going back to his spawn point for a pretty picture after switching from blood-elven transmog to sundered-nether transmog. As long as I've been trying to get Golden Bow of Quel'thalas to finish the former set, going all purple and green to match this mount just seems right. I think it'll be a while before I use anything else, even my Corrupted Hippogryph.

After all, this is the mount that made up for almost breaking my damn wrist.

Picture order is backwards since I keep forgetting that I need to upload the most recent ones first for it to go oldest-to-newest. I also switched from past tense to present tense without noticing...oops!

Woo congrats! But I gotta ask... Why are you zoomed in so close?! xD You would've been able to see around you much clearer while camping if you zoomed out. Also you can resize your UI. (:

Congrats! Ya a future tip if you're zoomed out further you can see more on your screen, making your UI a bit smaller also increases visual ability.

Yay its over and now you can start to regain your sanity lost!

That much zoom is a bit of a habit--I did think about zooming out for camp purposes, but decided that as far as the spawn points were from each other that it made little difference. I tend to make up for it by using low-profile mounts like hippogryphs or Horseman's Mount. I will also zoom out if a raid fight really, really calls for it (see: something like the old Loot Reaver).

UI's same thing, but more set in my ways there...god help the poor soul that messes with my UI. Everything must be Just So or it nags me until I 'fix' it.

TL;DR: Stubborn 'old' casual set in her ways.

I got the TLPD about a year ago...it seems unreal that so much time has passed, I remember it so clearly. It wasn't that long after the Molten Front patch!

I did say or pet! It all depends on how long it takes you to get the mount though. Some people make $100 in a workday!

True enough. I think my BF's the only one I've managed to talk into it, though...and I threatened him with bodily harm if he bought me a Spectral Tiger. As much as I drool over it, $500 is hard to justify!
