Awesome! So you weren't on the quest to make them despawn at all?? And do you remember the date you did this? Was it in June? July? I just want to be clear that it was tamed after the 4.3.3 hotfix which presumeably fixed glitch tames.

No probs! This is great information! I will be testing this personally and post my own results! Hopefully, this is a sign that some of the perma-appearance pets can still be obtained. d=(^_^)Z

I still miss my flaming patch of flames on the ground. =(
for a while, some of the beasties kept their "this _____ has been pushed too far!" - the one that looked like a pet under bestial wrath, but that went away too.

I think I know a way to get flaming pets again (DON'T GET YOUR HOPES UP TOO HIGH) I will test it again after MoP comes out to see if they fixed it or not. I will post it only if it still works.

Curious, do they one shot it just as you're finishing the tame?Rawr wrote:Took me like 30 tries but I had one of those worgs in my stable with me already and had a friend 1-shot it then rezed for just a second it before it lvled (not a full rez) then logged out then back in.

Wait, so are oil wolves tameable or not?
I tamed one as Horde a while ago, but I can't remember how now (lol). I have a newer hunter that I want one on (Horde again) so I want to try. I think it was the despawn method or something. Definitely not one where a friend one shots it as I end the tame since I did it solo. Hmmm... can anyone remember the method I'm talking about?
Thanks.

Do you guys think that the currently tamed appearance buffed pets will become "fixed" with this patch?

No, they all still had their glowy/misty/oily/fiery effects on them in Beta and PTR so they should still have them later today.Lampray wrote:Do you guys think that the currently tamed appearance buffed pets will become "fixed" with this patch?

I tamed 5 specific pets before 4.3 and just for info all of them still looks the same as before:
Pets with stable “buffs”
- Angered Arakkao Protector (I am not sure, but looks a bit less transparent, but still transparent and with blue mist aura)
- Disembodied Jormungar (I am not sure again, but this worm looks even more transparent than before)
Pets with unstable “buffs” (they will be normal after pet or hunter die or on/after arena)
- Felscale Crawler
- Ghostpaw Runner
- Searing Roc
I really want to use my pets with unstable “buffs” in raids or BG, but I am afraid to lose them if they or my hunter die, so I didn't test it.

This is an interesting:
Pets No longer Have Debuffs
http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18778
So "probably" it is safe now to use every pets with Appearance "Buff" on raids, BG or arena. Still want to wait until arena season will start.

That person is incorrect if you read further down in the topic. They have an issue with their UI.Dragnir wrote:This is an interesting:

I can second this as I've still seen the debuffs myself.Akycha wrote:That person is incorrect if you read further down in the topic. They have an issue with their UI.Dragnir wrote:This is an interesting:

Re: EDITED: Appearance Buff Pets now RETIRED. Facts/Explanat
Just looking at the reason appearance-buffed pets got removed, the Vekniss Soldier: http://www.wowhead.com/npc=15229#abilities
What I don't get is a) why does an NPC use a buff that defines a 'party' and b) why didn't Blizz just alter the buff itself instead of furthering tinkering the Tame Beast ability.
Unless there's a mechanic in AQ40 to take control of the NPC; otherwise I didn't think NPCs use the 'party' function, only the faction function...
Edit: As it is, thank gawd I tamed nearly all the appearance-buffed pets before I stopped playing Cata for a bit mid-Firelands storyline. They were all safe in my stable *phew*

Yes they are, it's fun t see five flaming pigs run after someone, or five black worg's.
I'm glad I was able to get the oil worg and the flaming pig on my alli hunter, and the flaming pig on my cow. shame my cow wasn't at level yet to tame the worg or shed have it too. The fix happened just before she passed outland. Earked me as I was rushing and power leveling her.

I've unstickied this topic now, as it's from a long time ago. If anyone needs it again they can still find it with search. I just wanted to do a little clean-up as we have so many stickies they get lost in the crowd.
It was very important info at the time and thanks to Rarehunter for maintaining it

Thanks! I had totally forgotten about how old and out of date this thing was. =p May it go gracefully down in history.
*updated the info for good measure, and so it wouldn't cause confusion for people looking into if any methods were still available* ^^
