Turns out that GW2 was not being sold at stores OR online for 2weeks due to the high population on limited servers. GW2 sales were halted to allow time for new servers to get up and running to handle the high popularity of the game! Sooo...Hopefully now that sales are starting to resume, I'll be able to pick up my copy this week!

Most brand new MMOs wait a few months before they put out a trial. It's to try and encourage people to buy the game.

Well I'm no fool when it comes to my money and anyway I don't have $100 to spend XD Tho I'm glad you are not like some people on facebook when I asked that just went "lol just buy the game it's got no subs" :S

I was going to do the same as you, originally. I was going to wait it out for a free trial before I dropped $60 on the game. Instead I caved seeing all the screenshots and hearing friends talk about it. xD

I'm trying my hardest not to just buy the game I really am! It's going to be harder after Saterday when my parents go to the states for a month as they left me all this cash but it's for food and stuff XD

Anyway when I get it I think I will go on the server you are on. I know timezones will be a pain and I might move later on tho. They where the reason I left the server Petopia was on I got lonely

This is a bit of a late update, but we ended up exchanging my husband's copy for another one. The guy at the store was hesitant about it, but said that if he didn't play it himself and hadn't heard similar stories involving serial codes, he wouldn't have exchanged it. So...I guess it's somehow good that it's not a rare thing? In any case, this one worked perfectly and now we're both having fun!

I know right? This game isn't really meant to be played like WoW since there's no carrot to chase, but gisjgopesjgpog I just love it.

I'm trying to pace myself. Sometimes I hardly do any leveling at all, and yet I'm still having fun uncovering new areas, exploring the cities, and honestly just enjoying the spectacular views. I feel absolutely no rush to do anything. There's something peaceful about the utter freedom there is in this game.

Well, so far I got my Charr Ranger to lv 5. Still very confused about...a lot of stuff. But I do find the Charr's /dance to be funny. I have a little kitty as my first pet. I named her Bloodseeker. I still need to make my way over to where the fern wolves are though, I really want to get one of those.

The events seem to be a nice touch, though I think I must look the total noob as I move around, I am not use to using the WADS buttons, and the arrow keys don't turn me around so well!

Keyboard turning in general is slower than using your mouse to turn. The game is a little overwhelming at first so if you have friends playing or a guild to go to, I'd recommend hooking up with them to answer some questions and help you out. Or feel free to ask on these boards as I'm sure the people here would be more than willing to help you out.

One of the first things I did was increase the camera rotation speed. By default, it's set to minimum. Go into your options and set it to about halfway and that should feel much better for you. It did for me, anyway.

In response to what a few of you have said, I too have just been enjoying the game. I spent my entire evening last night simply exploring the Black Citadel (Charr main city). It is huge. On the west side there's a big set of ruins that's really beautiful, a lake, etc. It is a sprawling city and it's fun to see everything there is to see. And this is just the first area! I can't wait to see what the rest of the world is like. ^_^

Just got back from my friend place and he was kind enough to show me where I need to go to "port" to the different areas, which is a big help since I thought I would have to hoof it the whole way to where the fern wolves are! Now off to take the "short cut" and get me a wolf!
