What level do you have to be in order to get this quest?
Is it for both factions?
Once I am in the new zones... can I just run over and get the quest?

88, yes, and it looks like there are no pre-reqs from what I can tell... there's also no 'start' link in wowhead, just an end NPC. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though, as I actually haven't done the quest. But if you're low level and antsy, you can just spam trade chat bribing someone with a torch to pop out and murder your pet in a duel outside Org.Pent wrote:What level do you have to be in order to get this quest?

Honestly, I don't know if I can even think of one of my pets that I would want the fire on... I have a few that I wouldn't mind seeing what they look like with it, but I am not sure if I would want it on them all the time. Like King Krush, Madexx, Terrorpene, etc... I don't do arena, and I wouldn't even know how to begin to go into the arena to get the fire off.

Re: Permanent Fire Pets
Got my guild mate to come over and kill/torch a few of my pets. Poor fellow didn't know if he should laugh or be disturbed at what I wanted of him! But he was a great sport and got 3 pets torched. I like the effect on Barret the most, flame turtle on fire is win. APS though, stone just doesn't look right on fire and since I use him a lot, the sound gets annoying to. and Ironite has a nice fiery vest he can show off. I was tempted to get Zolom (fuzzy worm) torched, but Like APS, the sound would get to annoying.
Pent, to remove the buff vie pvp way, just take the pet as your active pet and run a BG. The buff will be automatically removed. which, I think I will do with APS later.

I don't think BG's wipe buffs, unless rated. I've only heard Arenas and Rated do.Makoes wrote:

Ooh, I think I want to try this on a couple of my pets. Hopefully I can get to the quest or find someone that has the item.
If anyone on Nesingwary gets the torch, let me know?

If anyone on Wyrmrest gets the torch I'd like to try, though I have a suspicion these will be hotfixed quickly.

Re: Permanent Fire Pets
Flashy intended spells that players asked for is a tad different than exploiting pets that affect other players gameplay experience, which was my original point. I'm not saying don't do it or dont have some fun. I'm just saying don't expect it to last long. Enjoy it while it lasts.Dialga wrote:If Blizzard cared about brightness bothering players, they shouldn't have implemented Heart of the Aspects and the Phoenix mount, and half the flashy player spells they didJessibelle wrote:Considering it's insanely bright and can bother other players on that alone, it might end up on the chopping block pretty quickly. And again, I already said that it's likely this will eventually get fixed, but seeing as it's nothing more than a visual exploit on pets, and it did take quite a bit of time for them to fix anything that's not questionable (Garwal, Fire Patch are exceptions), I don't think it's on their top 100 fixes for an expansion launch.

To those who haven't done any quests in the zone prior to this, you need to unlock it first. Just go to Gao-Ran Battlefront, where you just take and finish all quests and keep doing that until you get the quest called "Choking the Skies".
So glad to have my Vulcan back on fire. ^^ He was my Fire Patch, so it was only apprioriate to set him on fire this time too.

Well...upon entering Wise Mari's room in the Temple of the Jade Serpent, my fox's buff was removed. I'm not sure if it's a mechanic that Mari does since my dungeon journal isn't working, but even before the boss fight started it was removed by what I presume is the water?

Re: Permanent Fire Pets
Aww I love the fire pets specially my piggy I'm almost 87 so perhaps I can make it to 88 if I can get into lots of dungeons because I've noticed their giving quiet large chunks of exp but with 30 min ques I doubt it but hey never know!
I'd definitely get a crane just to get that look because its awesome!
And maybe I could set some older pets on fire hmm

I'm going to set a few pets on fire anyways and hope they don't loose the flame.
Also provided I get to 88 on time and don't laze out because it happens.
Re: Permanent Fire Pets
I have confirmed this just a minute ago.. not something the boss does during the fight but just as the doors close, it loses the affect. Curious if it can be dispelled by mass dispel or something though. We may get lucky and it's just something odd in that boss encounter.Zuilu wrote:Well...upon entering Wise Mari's room in the Temple of the Jade Serpent, my fox's buff was removed. Re: Permanent Fire Pets
This is a pretty cool find
As has been mentioned, don't get too upset if they do eventually remove it. It was unintentional after all. Do it knowing that.
I suspect that their greatest concern won't be removing an unintentional cosmetic but rather what it might represent. If coding accidents like this can still happen then accidents that cause permanent damage buffs could still happen also. So they may want to close that loophole before something like that occurs.

My guess is, that this maybe a fail safe put in by blizzard. Are there any mobs before the boss that have a buff that can be "Spell Stolen" by a Mage? Or other such effects in the area that may advantageously help in other ways...?
It smells like they want nothing left to chance when it comes to any an advantage when if comes down to "Going for Gold" for challenge modes... well that's my guess.
That said I'd be a little dubious about taking any such pet in to this fight if it's wiping buffs

It's perfect! At long last, my little Suzaku finally turned into a phoenix. I sure hope they they don't fix the flames and let me keep him this way... if not atleast I have this picture to remember him by.

Re: Permanent Fire Pets
So far my favourites are the red ones. Where it enhances the natural look. Like that "phoenix" owl
I wonder how a red Outland basilisk would look.
Or a red vulture.
Duneclaw Broodlord scorpid (dark iron scorpid) or one of the black-with-red-marks scorpids might look pretty cool too.
Or red or magma tarantulas.
Sorry, so many possibilities!
