I thought I should introduce the herd and their servants

Unread post by Hatetobeu »

Hi there!

My husband introduced me to WOW and thought for sure I'd start myself on a druid. But being an animal lover, I couldn't resist the temptation of being able to have all these cool pets. I have nearly reached my perfect herd right now. We currently slave to 1 pug, 1 feral cat, 2 guinea pigs, 1 male betta and 2 horses(well I slave to the horses). Now the only thing missing is a Doberman or Rottweiler and my 75 gallon fish tank needs a full hood so I can start stocking it.

About each individual member:

Emma the pug was found while driving to my best friend's house. I was at the light just outside her neighborhood when I noticed a little dog sniffing the grass. As I turned into the neighborhood she proceeded to chase my truck. She is less than half the size of my tires. I watched in my side mirror and prayed I wouldn't hit her as I pulled over and stopped.
She had no tags. Incredibly friendly and playful. Once she was able to settle/cool down we began taking her to nearby vets to see if she was their patient. No one recognized her. For a half year we put up signs, refreshed craigslist ads/contacted rescues and shelters. No one claimed her. Someone DID call to steal her! Alas, since no one claimed her I began training her and soon she fell into our herd. She is approx 3-4 years old now. Very hyper, loves to play, swim, and sleep all day.

Our feral kitty, who's not so feral anymore, is Baby Girl. Hubby found her 13 years ago. She was laying in the middle of the road in obvious pain. She was hit by someone and they didn't bother to stop for her. When the vet's finished with her surgery, hubby found out she was a pregnant kitty. He kept her. She didn't like being indoors a whole lot. But she came and went for food. Shortly after she had her babies she got spayed. Then shortly after hubby met me, I started slowly luring her indoors. On cold nights she slept with hubby. Soon she was coming and going in the house. When hubby/I moved in together Baby Girl was forced to be indoors 24/7. We moved into an apartment and I thought for sure she'd tear up the apartment and we'd have to bring her back to mom n dad's. Nope. She was happy. She has 2 kitty towers, plenty of hiding spots, natural TV(the guinea pigs). During this transition, she started to become closer with us. She was never a cat that wanted a whole lot of attention. But now she seeks it quite a bit. Mostly when you have food. But occasionally other times.
She is also Alpha of the herd.

My guinea pigs are 2 sows. Korra and Lady Sylvanas(hubby named her) AKA Lady. I had actually wanted to name Lady, Naga. See the reference? Korra and Naga? ;) Their 2 young playful piggys. Korra is the stubborn, strong mischievous piggy and Lady is the dominate brat who is constantly reminding Korra that she is top sow. Korra loves to snuggle/play WOW with me. Lady is the spookable, non-snuggle and afraid of WOW piggy. She is most afraid of my Ironbound Proto Drake. Korra doesn't care too much, just as long as I don't PVP. I guess I get too into it xD Korra is grey/white, she is also the smallest. Lady is tri-colored and the largest.

And their cage is known as the Guinea Pig 500. Their constantly running laps in it

My betta is a crowtail named Spike. Hes a wittle butt head. But I still wuve him xD

My horses are 2 old timers. Colty the American Paint Horse. He is 22 years old. Will be 23 this year. And Feather the Thoroughbred Dutch Warmblood cross. She is 23 years old. Or 24? I'd have to dig up her papers and check.
I did my western show career on Colty. After I excelled so much and got so bored of not having competition I began to learn beginner English on him. He never was much of an English horse. So that's where Feather came into my life. She was a retired broodmare. In her teens when I got her. She was also a freebie. I learned Hunter Jumpers with her. Still showing hunter jumpers. Just not with her. She is now retired and is a lesson horse for beginners who do nothing but walk, trot and occasionally canter her. Every weekend I do trails with them so they don't get too fat from being retired.

And now, finally, the servants. I am Amber and my husband is Brandon. I train dogs for a living and he works at FinishMaster. Hubs, I believe, is a bit too confident with his toons. He believes their the best. There was a time, before Cata, that they were the best. But he has yet to face and understand they really aren't right now. But on well! I am 22? years old. I often forget my age  And hubs should be 24.

And a most recent of Hate. My beloved hunter.

Quite a zoo you assembled there :) As a big fan of horses and cats I can only approve. And it's great you and your hubby rescued the cat and Emma. And Colty reminds me so much of Ringo, the horse I took care of. They look almost exactly alike (at least the head and the look on the face). Love all your pictures and very welcome to the forums!

I guess it is quite a zoo in here. :D It will soon hold a bird and another dog as my best friend is finally moving out and renting the spare bedroom. Did you do any showing with Ringo? Or was he a pasture buff?

As someone who's been involved with showing paints in western for 20+ years I have to compliment you on the condition of that animal. So often they're underweight and wooly by that age due to owners generally just not knowing how to care for an aged horse. You obviously take good care of yours. Doesn't look like he's in his 20's at all unless you really know what to look at.

Ringo was an English ridden horse. I did cross country, jumping and mostly dressage with him. But we also enjoyed looooong tours through fields and forest. I live in Germany so English riding is most popular here. And we had thought about getting Ringo a western equipment and taking lessons, but he was just too big (1,73m) to find a good saddle for his long back that wouldn't hurt him.
edit:
here are two links to pictures of Ringo
during the winter: he was a bit thin at this time and didn't have many muscles but this changed after I worked with him a lot.

Thank you! My OCD has always been a clean house and healthy animals. My vet with tell you I call her for the smallest of things. I often beat my farrier on scheduling the next time to come out to trim/reshoe. Feather looks the oldest because of her history. She has a bit of a sway back from her foals. You can sorta see it here: http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-a ... 7798_n.jpg
But she is still plumper than all the old ponies I've seen!

Wow Ringo really does look a lot like my Colty. I wish Colty could have white stockings. That has always been my dream paint. Bald face with tall white stockings.

Wow, that's an impressive herd. They are all quite lovely in their own ways. That kitty and pug really got lucky having you come into their lives when you did. Also, your horses have such beautiful eyes.
