"bonuses" for other classes
Before anyone decides to go bashing this thread because it sin't isn't about hunters let me put this out, Hunters have been getting a lot of attention lately. Rares? Challenge Tames?
it also seems hunters are the only ones with these things.
I think its time that we shine some light on other classes, also giving them fun things.
If you do have an idea for something for for a class other than hunters please do throw them in! Theres plently of threads like this for hunters already
I did have a idea for druids. Druids, haven't gotten any new forms for awhile and I think its time that they did get a new form
Not anything to fight with but rather just a form to have fun in. There is, after all much more azeroth beasts that I can see druids turning into like tallstriders or spiders.
Its really just extra forms to have fun in, but the major thing is getting it.
I imagine to get it you would need to find rare 'relics' resembling your animal, you right click it and get an item that will teach you the form.
However it will usually be guarded by a powerful boss of sorts that you may have to defeat by doing certain with druid spells. Kind of like a hunter challenge tame, of course this will only be meant for druids.
And guys, please try to avoid drama this thread is meant for fun and I would really like it to stay that way

Re: "bonuses" for other classes
Well, rogues and casters got a whole legendary quest chain (quite a long one) in Cataclysm. And other classes do get these things occasionally (remember the druid weapon that turned you into a fire cat form?). I do think other stuff for some classes would be cool, but it's hard to make special content, for, say, a warrior.

Re: "bonuses" for other classes
Well um....I'm just going to nicely point out three things with your statement that kinda bug me. ^^;
1. There's always talk about other classes. No one bashes topics that aren't about hunters. I've never seen that ever happen.
2. Druids did get new forms and lots of love - Fire Kitty staff in cata, Orca and Stag Forms, Armored shapeshifted forms, Glyphs to change us into random colors. The Mount Hyjal quests were involving the druids deeply. The list is quite large. Druids got SO much love so far in Cata and in MoP. Only change I'd want for the druid(and shammy) is our travel forms to match our riding training.
3. Spiders? Ehhh...I don't see that happening only because spiders reminds me of Lolth in DnD lore, whom was evil and worshipped by the drow, whom are also evil....so spiders generally are evil...and heaven forbid a current druid player is an arachniphobic.
The relic idea sounds neat but where do you draw the line? We have a lot of forms as is. What purpose would each form serve when the forms we have cover all the grounds? Those are things that really need to be taken into consideration. I don't see other forms serving a purpose since all bases are already covered(Bear Tank, Kitty Melee DPS, Moonkin Ranged DPS, Treant Healer, Stag/Cheetah Travel, Orca/Seal Aquatic).
Not bashing your suggestions or anything. This is just my two cents since my main is a druid. If Pandaren could be druids, I'd make one in a heartbeat, trust me.
EDIT: Also we all get neat stuff from Wrathion this expansion. All the classes do. All in all, I'd rather them work on classes that get almost no love, such as warriors or warlocks.

Re: "bonuses" for other classes
..Didn't warlocks get a LOT of love recently? Lots of buffs? new pets? Druids have quest lines, new forms and are easily the best class for gathering professions. Granted, you might argue that summoning up an angry chick with 6 arms is more dicey than loving, but hey.
Hunters get attention because we have to tame our pets. No other class *needs* to go out into the wilds for a good chunk of their abilities.
I speak as someone who has a druid healing alt. Druids have an a lot of awesome stuff, too. I think folks in general got a lot of neat things this expac.
Though, more class quest lines would be neat like cosmetic effects for spells (Warriors! Throw a sword at his head? Druid can balance balls on their nose in seal form or something...).
Edit: It's not to bash the idea, I just think that it's unfair to say we 'take away' or deserve less attention because we got a few neat pets. Personally, I figure Blizz'll continue to give folks lots of neat things and forms and quests. But from what I hear, an expac launch is pretty dang busy.

Ah good point. I forgot we did get new pets for the locks but it seems only Demo is supposed to take the new pets.Novikova wrote:..Didn't warlocks get a LOT of love recently? Lots of buffs? new pets? Re: "bonuses" for other classes
Well, its not really like the pets were made specifically for hunters-these species would have likely been in the game even were they not tameable, just to give it the right feel. Don't get me wrong, I love that we are able to tame them and that we have more then was intended, for us, but I don't feel special just because of them. If anything makes me feel special about being a hunter in this expac is that the devs really took into consideration how much hunters get greifed-by each other and other classes-over rare spawns and really thought outside of the box to give us that hunting feeling while making it less of a beat everyone else to it. When hunting for the rares I have now, I didn't feel that frustrated fear/anger that I would get in Cata or WOTLK that the pet was going to spawn and some troll was going to kill it just to be an ass.
I too thought that druids got a lot of love in this expac with the transformation glyphs and fixing the class to have four specs. Its enough to make me want to finish leveling mine eventually when I had, before MoP and it's Beta, considered deleting her.
I'd love more shammy love-but am fine with where we are at-its just the new spells are nice, but the ghost wolf glyph just annoys me in the long run, when running it feels like I move much slower because it is so much bigger then my own. And then all the confusion about the totems changing so drastically, I've really had to work at this new system for mine, who is my second main, and still don't like it at all really.... *shrug* ((I mean if we can have a wolf travel form, why can't we have a flight form? *pout*))
I don't know what has been done really for the melee classes-I hardly pay attention to them. But didn't rogues get like a super-greifer glyph or ability? The one where they can transform into a area's mob, get attacked and thus flagging the unsuspecting victim for PVP? I live in fear of that glyph these days, because I despise PVP-but that has got to be a heck of a lot of fun for them.
Ah well its six in the morning and I had about 3 hours of sleep. Back to bed before I ramble on more and more about things I don't know too much about.

Re: "bonuses" for other classes
I think Ruby's point was hunters have been Blizzards baby for a long time and get relatively anything that they ask for. I'm with her on this one, other classes get "love" but not the type of bonus "Oh this is fun" love that say a hunter gets from the new rare pet tracking. It isnt about getting new spell animations or anything its about fun litle things that other classes can do too. I realize that hunters have to tame pets and thats fun but you cannot argue that hunters have gotten spoiled, blizzard treats them like gold. Special content for other classes could be fun too.
I dont think a Druid of the Web would be too farfetched, perhaps you're forgetting the spider thats gone corrupt but was nice and peaceful for years in night elf territory. That spider was practically worshipped and revered because her silk was used by the night elves and it killed that priestess to ask you to kill her so she could be at peace. So spiders arent "evil" and honestly if you had the form who says you'd have to shift into it? Ailurophobia is the fear of cars and who knows how many of those are out there playing druids. You cant base your rational on a "what if" question.

Re: "bonuses" for other classes
I don't get it. Hunter's have not been a "baby" for anyone at Blizz besides one lurker dev who gets his two cents in here and there by the name of Noah. (big thanks btw)Vulpixen wrote:I think Ruby's point was hunters have been Blizzards baby for a long time and get relatively anything that they ask for. Neat things for hunters:
Original leaf questline in Vanilla to recieve the Rohk'delar Bow and Staff thingy (mispell)
Legendary Bow in BC that could be ninja'd to a rogue or a warrior from a raid boss that only 0.5% of the wow-population was able to be a part of killing
Some nice "challenge" tames for the Firelands patch, mainly consisting of the same spider with different color scheme (and 2 reskins of Gondria)
And now finally something neat like rare tracking and now everyone else needs "goodies" too?
Hunter's have had the least amount of love legendary wise. Hunter's seem to be nerfed more than any other class to make sure they stay moderately at the bottom of the pack.
But this new neat little feature of hunter tracking is mainly to help prevent the often times consistent oppurtunities for other players to greive the hunter player.
I think because of the rare-taming process, hunter's are the most greived upon class in all of wow.

Moving aside I may have been a little mean in my first post, I admit it and im not going to fight against it
now that thats done and over with I think you can also make 'challenge' demons like you can with the hunter pets, they can after all tame a temporary pet
I think its harder to make things for other classes only because they don't have as much fun abilitys as hunters/druids do. But that doesn't exclude them
After thinking for awhile I think that Warriors could probably get a trinket which allows them to do fun things, Im not terribly familiar with warriors so im not sure what to put.
And mounts. We all know that Warlocks and Paladins get 'special' mounts for their own classes what about others? I can easily see elemental creatures for mages to ride on (Like the bone dogs in firelands but a ride able version of course) or some sort of spirit animal for monks (They are linked to those right?), I can see rogues with a fast but sneaky kind of animal
Also Glyphs to change a shamans 'ghost wolf' would be cool, so instead they would probably have a ghost cat or stag

Re: "bonuses" for other classes
It would be really cool if warlocks and death knights could enslave wild NPCs to take the place of some of their existing ones. Unfortunately, that would kill the mechanics currently in place where they get access to the NPC's actual skills, so I don't see it actually happening, but man, it would be nifty. I miss the warlock pet quests for that.

Re: "bonuses" for other classes
She went mad and we've yet to see a nice/friendly spider since and most lore involving spiders is usually evil to its fullest extent, twas my point. If there was a nice spider that stayed nice, then it'd be plausible. Also to note, it was the priestesses, not the druids, that liked Lady Shathrah.Vulpixen wrote:I think Ruby's point was hunters have been Blizzards baby for a long time and get relatively anything that they ask for. Re: "bonuses" for other classes
Yeah. And people could and would grief you during the leaf questline. All they had to do was buff you or attack the demon and there went 3 hours of your life waiting for a respawn. I honestly don't get it, either. I'm not sure how hunters are wow's 'babies'. The new rares are still very much killable when you flare them out, after all. It's a cool feature, but the griefing during tames gives hunters the chance to be the most griefable class.Royi wrote:Good stuff.
But you are right, there are other threads. I just think it's wrong to say Hunters are spoiled or 'wow's favorite class'. Shade is right, too.
Let my point be: Helping a class not get griefed in pursuit of a feature/huge chunk of DPS/whatever is not the same as playing favorites. That's all.
Anyway, more class quests would be fun. I liked how you could get little bits of gear out in the world.
The rogue glyph where they can transform into an area's mob is kinda scary. >_> But maybe a glyph so a druid, rogue or shaman could be friendly/disguised to a type of mob and find new quests that way. Like a treant telling druids how to do something so they can customize their treant form.

Re: "bonuses" for other classes
I really liked the old vanilla questline on how to get the Blackrock Depths key (you had to be dead and talk to the dwarf in that one room)
Class specific fancies are needed for all I think.
I really like how Monks have a Sanctuary that is a bit like Deathgate 2.0 (but a bit cooler) ~ Druids also get the Moonglade teleport and a lot of newer fancy forms (and flight form herbalism ftw). Mages get infinite portals and various Sheep / Pig / Bunny / Penguin / Rabbit / Turtle polymorphs. Locks get new demons, and those summoning stone things, and class mounts. Shaman have a quick hearth and ghost wolf. DK's death gate and starting at level 55. Paladins used to have the epic mount questline but still have access to class mounts and they have the ability to always remain OP for pvp.
Warriors don't really have too much, I remember when they could dual-wield two-handers that was kind of "special" but not really. They have had a lot of legendarys, but besides that no real "fancies"
Rogues get stealth and had the whole fangs of the father questline but nothing else besides. I wish they would implement more Ravenholdt things though. I remember I thought that someday there might be promise to Ravenholdt back when I was playing a rogue in Vanilla, but nothing ever came out of it.
Priests have levitate, life pull thing, and shadowform which is neat, but not too much else there.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Overall (taking legendaries out of the mix) probably Rogues, Warriors, and Priests have the "shorter end" I think. Perhaps a Rogue teleport to Ravenholdt would be a neat addon. A priest gaining an ability to mass-Ressurect Critters, and warriors have some sort of pickup truck mount with a Calvin decal urinating on a Alliance or Horde banner that clearly shows how they are overcompensating for something.
They have made some decent progress in some of the Minor Glyphs (druids being mounts, shaman ghost running on water, shorter tames for hunters, zen flight for monks) ~ I hope they go more in that direction
