starter zone guild experience change?

Unread post by Sukurachi »

I noticed that since Pandaren cannot join a guild until they have left their starter zone at around level 10, there is a lot of "lost" potential guild experience there.

Then a guildie of mine asked why he wasn't getting any guild exp. from doing the lowbie quests in the Orc starter area. I deduced that maybe Blizz. had removed guild exp for all starter zones, to equalize it, so that Pandaren would not be unfairly disadvantaged?

Could this be so? or is there some other factor at play here?

I never noticed but that seems like a good reason.

nope, forget all of this.. my guildie just informed me that the quests were all grey to him, which might explain why he was getting no guild exp.

The reason why new pandaren cannot join a guild until they leave the island is because he/she is neither Alliance or Horde. Because of this, a pandaren cannot join a guild until they decide which side they pick.

Read the very first line of the original post. I already know this. It was never in question.

But I had (wrongly) assumed that Blizzard had changed the way guild experience was gained to make it fairer for new Pandaren toons, when compared to other races, by removing guild experience from low-level toons until a certain point. As I said, this was an erroneous assumption on my part, based upon incomplete information provided by a low-level guild member.

It seems that Pandaren are still penalized.. or rather, that other races have a distinct advantage from the get go over Pandaren, in this regard.

And in case you don't think this is a serious issue, running the very first part of the Blood Elf starter area, that's 15 quests, earns me nearly 1 million guild experience. By the time you hit level 10 that is more than doubled (there are considerably more than 30 quests in all from level 1 through 10 for most races).

Pandaren who know they are joining a specific guild don't get to contribute that share, and they don't get the guild rep for themselves either. So a minor drawback to the way the Pandaren starter mechanics were designed. At least, in my opinion.

Hey, this isn't a major gripe on my part, and this thread wasn't started as a complaint regarding this issue. It originally started as nothing more than a question. To which I got an answer in the interim.
