Jewelcrafting Panther Mount is Awesome

Unread post by Schlager »

Well I was really nervous about dropping 18k gold on the Orb of Mystery, but I took the plunge and I couldn't be happier! I like my Sapphire Panther even more than my cloud serpent! The pictures don't do it justice, it's really fun to fly.

I see them around and I get so flustered, because my first goal is to make the ONYX panther...

...So much gold...

I really like the Sapphire one though.

Yea the jade one is next on my list, Wild Jade were like 3 times the cost of the River's Hearts so I went for blue instead. I saw a red one yesterday it's really bright and stands out.

I didn't like them when they were first data mined. I thought they were gaudy and too colorful. Seeing them in game however made me love them. All the colors are gorgeous although I'm partial to the sapphire one. Eventually I'd like to end up with all five colors, all the colorful ones plus the onyx.

What sucks is that you have to buy or make all of them twice in order to get all colors and the onyx mount. I am so not looking forward to that.. I really like the black one to..

A friend made me the red one as a belated bday present (and my birthstone is ruby too, so it works out!). It really is a nice mount!

I loved those mounts until I saw they could fly. o.o I just... What?! Even so, I'd still love one to use as a ground mount. But first, to make that much gold...

Well. It would be a bit awkward to pay that much gold for a land mount that doesn't do anything... xD I love their flying. Except for one thing. Don't strafe too much on them. Seriously, if you turn the volume on and spam tap strafe or move your mouse too much. Churr-Rrr-Roar-Rruroar-Churroarvvv... Nightwing also does this. :/ I an careful to mostly go in straight lines because of this. But the saddles creak when you just sit there and they move passively... That sound effect makes me squirm with delight every time.

They're definitely talkative! *managed to snag a sapphire one off the AH*

Congrats! I got the mats together (being an Alchemist helps) and got a guildie to make me the Red Panther - I agree about them being talkative XD Every time you do a 'side-step' movement they growl hehe

My plan is to make all the colored guys first, learn them all, and then go about making the four again for the epic version (I went into partnership with our guild JC to make the epic guy to sell - so far no luck on AH, but I am very tempted to pay him back for the 2 orbs and learn him myself! hehe)

Question, what would be a good price for these mounts? Anything under 25k?

To buy or to sell? To buy, I've so far paid 20k and 21k. I should just gather the mats and tip someone to make the other 2 (and then all 4 again for the black), but I'm in no rush.

To sell... well, the problem is the market is getting flooded fast with them, and JCs I've talked to have said they're having problems unloading them now since the people who really wanted them have already bought them.

I've never seen them below like 30k on my realms... except the sunstone which no one apparently wants, which I've seen as low as 26k.

I have been keeping an eye out. Account-wide mounts also mean the demand is lower since everyone will only want one instead of buying one for multiple alts.

someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket

There's a few for 25k on my realm. Not a single sunstone though. Surprisingly red is the cheapest one, green being highest at 35k. Lots of blues ranging between those. I'm still deciding if I want to fork over the gold. Already gonna have the new mount achieve when it happens and I'm starting to get to the point new mounts just get lost in the spell book.

The yellow one is a really nasty color. I'm aiming to get red soon. ^^

I don't normally see them that low on my realm either, however that is what bargaining is for. If the seller has been trying to sell it for a while, they're often willing to haggle. The 20k one I haggled 6k off the listed price in exchange for buying it directly. :)

Well, the orb is 18k, so that would be a bare minimum price. Then you've got the 40 rare gems, which will vary in price depending on which one it is. Then you have the two JC-specific gems. Then you have whatever other mats that I'm almost certainly forgetting...

So in all actuality, 25k is usually pretty fair, or even below cost. 30k might make a JC a small profit. Maybe.
