BM hunters in arena

This showed up in the blue tracker on MMO Champion, players are basically saying the hunters stamped is to powerful in pvp. Any thoughts on this ?

It's ridiculously OP and will undoubtedly be nerfed, no question.

Of course, there are other classes that need it too (resto druids in cat form, anyone?)....

Based on wording on a recent hotfix made that reduced the effectiveness of healing in PvP (and PvP ONLY) I hope that Blizzard finally figured out how to make arena-related tweaks without ruining things on the PvE side.

Of course, my burst in PvE even is absolutely ridiculous right now, so if it HAS to be tweaked a little I won't mind too much... just...
Not a ton, please. I'm worn out of having to put 150% effort to be competitive in my spec while raiding an I was looking forward to this expansion being a breather for me.

Actually, what I think the obvious solution would be is to just say "You can't use Stampede in arenas", which is kind of what I expected would happen the day that ability was first announced. We'll see...

I asked about this last night in vent while PvP'ing on my warrior to help a friend get the last wins she needed for Battlemaster. Since my hunter just hit 87 last night, I only just got Stampede and wanted to see what others thought.

Their responses were pretty much all along the same lines, saying that BM hunters have some insane burst, but then end up so-so until the cooldowns are up. One of them likened hunters to the old PoM/Pyro mages in TBC.

I thought they were going to make it so that you cant use stampede in pvp. In pve its.. a nice little boost of dps, especially when you first start out cause dang my dps still is lacking.. quite a bit. My burst dps is pretty good but quickly goes back down to around a 30k average.. I basically use a hyena now because I hate how long cobra shot is.. and having to reforge every single item to try and get my hit to where its suppossed to be means I lose out on alot.. so I do still struggle in pve.

So its my hope that they just make it so you cant use it in arenas, and dont touch it. Losing out in pve because of pvp stuff is annoying..

I don’t know. It’s really nice to not have to work overtime just to stay even with the other specs for once. (And not getting laughed out of raids before I can even show them what I can do.) It’s not affected by readiness so you can only use it once every five min. If you can survive the initial burst from the first few seconds of the game then the hunter is usually in trouble. chances are the game wont last long enough for it to come off cooldown again unless your in a nasty pillar humping healer war. I can use all of my cooldowns, use readiness and then use all of my cooldowns again, use silencing shot, intimidate, scatter shot and my wasp sting and charge and a healer will still shrug it all off. Ghost wolf and cat form are terribly abused but I seem to be evenly matched against most double dps teams . As both a strong pvper and pver I would hate to see it nerfed but I think I would prefer a nerf to taking it out of arena completely.

In arena, this is usually the problem and why there are calls for a nerf. Not everyone can go immune.

I personally think the big problem with it is Spirit Mend.

5 spirit beasts, = 5 spirit mends. Good lord.

I tried this and it kept me alive while fighting 2 level 90s at level 87.

While strong, it does have effective counters. Psychic Scream, Frost Nova, Mass Entanglement, Intimidating Shout, etc all render stampede useless for the majority of the duration. Any aoe cc can effectively do this since these pets don't binifit from bestial wrath.

I'm not denying its strong, it's just extremely easy to counter. Fought a resto Druid/affliction lock combo a few times while gaining points and hey handed us our butts! The lock countered my first BW with a fear, second with death coil, and they stacked/mass entangled my stampede. A good control class will make you cry if you're relying on your burst.
