Solo'ing Mandokir.

Unread post by Magnakilro »

I know its possible with smart use of Snake trap....but my question is...does anyone know how to get him to trigger the trap during every Decapitate? Its my only issue.

For those that don't know:

Basically the strategy is to set a snake trap prior to him 1 shotting you. While he's fighting your snakes, you'll get the free rez.

Edit: Turns out I was doing it wrong lol

This is what i have heard also regarding the snake trap but it's generally about timing, and practice

For the decap and snake timing, you will want to drop your 1st trap on him about 5-8 seconds into the fight as he will decap you about 10 seconds into the pull. These snakes will be around long enough for you to be rezed by a spirit and get back into the fight.

(Side note, the spirits do have a little bit of travel time as they move to your body to rez your, the closer you are to one, the less time it will take for them to get to you and rez you, though not normally detrimental to you being rezzed in time.)

Once your back up you will need to summon your pet again asap and put it on the boss. I'd have a pet on passive for this fight as you don't really what it running around chasing other targets.

The 2nd decap with be 48ish seconds into the fight, how every after the 1st you will also be dealing with Ohgan (the raptor). It is at about 22 seconds into the fight that he will summon Ohgan. You will definitely have to drop the Ohgan or you will run out of spirits to rez you if your don't. The best way to control this is to spec into binding shot as it works wonders on it and gives you a lot more breathing space to drop it before it reaches a spirit. This plays a nice roll in regards to timing.

Once your drop Ohgan return to the boss and drop your snake trap on the boss shortly after. This should be the perfect timing for your trap to activate and get a few hits before he comes in for the 2nd decap. This can however vary depending on how fast you drop Ohgan. If you tear it up very quickly, hold off on the trap for a little bit longer (This is where the practice part comes into it ;) )

Lastly, the other thing you will have to watch out for while Ohgan is up is devastating slam, but simply move out of it.

Once you have been rezed again, rinse and repeat.

Survival is probably the way to go for this fight as you can do a decent amount of damage to the boss with SS, Black arrow and MOC still running even while dead. I would also recommend a turtle as the damage your pet can take can still be a bit sketchy, don't forget to keep mend pet running. I would personally save stampede for after the 1st decap and they will all despawn when you die due to the 1st decap being so fast and loosing their dps.

Best of luck and may all your Raptor dreams come true in the near future :D

No raptor drop.

It was relatively like your guide but something interesting happened....

Oh'gan despawned part way thru the fight, leaving just the boss to deal with.

I also found that tossing a trap at him during the Slam was a good spot to do it.

I was BM using Spirit Beast tank.

Yeah the snake trap is all about timing and working out what is best for you. As our Dps/Gear goes up it will be less of a dps race and spec choice will be more personal, good to hear BM worked out well and Gratz on your kill none the less :)

Gonna try that trick if Oh'gan decides to stick around next time....toss trap into the slam. Its a little hectic with the raptor there XD

Also solo'ed Kilnara.

Very neat trick with the snake trap! :) I'll have to give this a shot sometime. Thanks for the tips!

I tried Kilnara myself today and found her much easier than expected. You can ignore the panther adds and focus on her - when she transforms and calls them in all you have to do is Feign Death and they reset and go back to sleep, so you don't even have to worry about taking them out. :) She'll definitely be on farm for me now for that mount.

Yeah Mandokir is tough if you don't time the snake trap correctly.
