What is the deal with Polly?

I was training in Northern Stranglethorn and found and got a parrot named Polly. Is it ment to be something fancy or something? I find it a bit odd to find a named battle pet in the wild. :S

They are all over NSTV. Nothing special...just its appearance is different I think.

A bit of trivia from the old days: Back in Vanilla beta, every hour on the hour, in STV and the Barrens, you'd see "Polly says SQUAWK!"

I also remember a questline that included pirate ships and feeding an absolutely deadly parrot named Polly with crackers.... The parrot always was saying "Polly wants a cracker". I think it was a questline in the barrens.
