New Gryphon and Wyvern Models!

I think I like the old Gryphon model better. The new one's feathers are too ruffled looking. Birds have a sleeker appearance which makes them more aerodynamic. On another point, I have never understood why they call the Horde mounts Wyverns when in mythology a Wyvern was a type of Dragon. They should be called Chimera and the in game Chimeras should be called Wyverns. That would be more accurate.

Yeah you're right. Its kind of dumb actually because like was said a Wyvern is a completely different type of mythological creature. Then when you get right down to it.. THIS is a chimera and now that goats have been added I see no reason not to make one. ^.^

You're right the Horde mount should be called a Manticore to be accurate.

Well they can call them what ever they want it's their fantasy themed game in their fantasy themed world. It would be wrong if they based it on earth where the name would be wrong but it's not so they are not wrong.

I mean they technicly are wrong in calling their crabs crabs seeing as they only have 6 legs in all

We're not giving them shit for it, we're just confused. If they wanted to take a mythological creature, why confuse everyone and name it after a totally different creature? It's like adding, as a quick example, wolves and lions into the game but calling the wolves lions and the lions wolves. It's just confusing. I believe quilen are based on a mythological creature but the word 'quilen' is completely made up. (Please correct me if I'm wrong here, I'm only going by what I know!)

I as well believe they should've called wyverns (though they're often also called wind riders) manticores and the chimaera should've been wyvern.

And, they call the Quilen dogs when they are obviously lions and therefore cats. They are based on the Chinese Guardian Lion called the Shishi. They even fight like cats, using their claws as well as biting.

Actually, I think quilen are based upon fu dogs which are essentially lions, but for some reason considered dogs in the western world.

Thats how i view Chimera's so i have no quarrel with how they made the chimera beast in WoW :3 My OC is named Chimera and he's only slightly similar to the greek mythological representation of Chimera

So, the ally/horde factions are gonna be in Krarasang Wilds? I wonder if they'll make use of the many abandoned beaches (tho im sure that would mean the vegetation would get replaced with bases of operation which makes me sad Ally n horde have already ruined parts of Jade Forest which makes me sad /stil mourns the destruction of the serpent statue). And as always im sure the rep grind is going to be long and time consuming ._.

Allies settle down on the far-eastern empty peninsula of the wilds, just next to Jade Forest, and Hordies take a likewise empty isle to the west of the zone.

I'm kind of worried about the no-flying restrictions on those areas (hopefully not the whole Karasang...?). I really hope they won't turn into a dismounting splatty-death traps, like Wintergrasp and the spider cave for Serpent Riders dailies - although I'm pretty sure that for the last one it's just a bug

Fu, or Foo Dogs and the Shishi are the same thing. They are the Chinese guardian lions seen as statues around ancient temples and other structures.
