I have ALWAYS been in love with the serpent family b/c of their beautiful shining skins. They are graceful, beautiful, glitter in the sun.... I mean, wow. It probably helps that I adore snakes in general.

Anyway, I have been hashing out my raid team for MoP raiding since the team is being aggressive on joining in the race. This means I'm tasked with making sure all the buffs are covered.

One that *could* be lost is Serpent Swiftness, or the ranged/spell haste. I immediately knew this was the time to find The Snake.

Oh, did I find him! Meet Ocean:

Image

Such gorgeous grace!!!!! It was an instant bond!!! Ocean is probably a temporary name until I find specifically what tropical beach to name him after. <3 At long last, I found THE SNAKE!

I mean, just look at that smile! He's such a cheerful, intimidating, shining guy! I took him with me into ICC on the Lich King tonight (old skool raid night) and while we really didn't need his present buff, I just couldn't get over how his attack animations are so smooth and brilliantly done. Yup. I LOVE that he has that sarcastic grin the whole time he's noshing on something.

*HUGS OCEAN TO PIECES* <3

I adore the WoW cobras. they are so detailed compared to other vanilla pets. Just take their teeths for example. They are detailed and refined much unlike the wolves/bears/cats obvious paper teeth.
They look sharp and deady and have hidden fangs that they pull out when biting. And how can you not love that tongue (even if it goes through its nose) flickering constantly to taste the air around it!

And not to mention the smooth swim animation.

While this feature of the Grimtotem Spirit Guide wasn't exactly intended... - it will still be possible in future for everyone who wishes to tame this NPC to do so

Now that serpents finally have a useful ability AND can be ferocity pets I found myself taming some on hunters. I tamed them on Merowen and Finduilas, both hunters I didn't like a hyena with.

The first serpent is Snape. I had already tamed him months ago because he fit into Merowens turquoise stable theme. He basically just sat in the stables and looked pretty. After the pet changes he now became an almost permanent member in my active pet slots. He's named after Professor Snape from the Harry Potter books. Merowen also has MadEye the Basilisk and a few other Harry Potter characters.

With Finduilas I tamed several different serpent skins before settling on the brown one which looks surprisingly good. At first I tried out the red gem serpent, but for me the color was too much off from my transmog set to look good together. I really liked the blue eyes, but well, it didn't work. Then I tried the pretty green/yellow one. The skin I like almost most, but I tamed a brown one just to compare which one fit better, and brown it was. I named her Menja, after my Ban'thalos I had to release in order to make room for a serpent. I'm still a bit sad to have let go of Menja the spirit beast, because I had camped days for her, but she only sat in my stables while I used Pearl, Loki or Fjölnir.... To honor Menja the great birt I named my new serpent like her, but I'm not sure if I'll change the name. She's just NOT Menja in many ways, but she also is her... if this makes any sense. I love the way her scales glitter in the sun and how perfect she looks with her orange and golden brown colors. I always thought this serpent skin was boring, but now I really like her.

Menja is beautiful! I also really like the brown skin. Calling it brown doesn't do it any justice, as it's actually quite pretty in-game. :)

I adore that brown skin. <3 It's so glittery and golden, with many different, warm colors. Like a living Egyptian god or something.

yes exactly. When I looked at her on the petopia page I was all "meh boring skin" but after I had seen her in live, she was such a pretty color combination, warm brown, gold and sunny orange. It's really pretty and I love the way her scales glitter in the sun and when she moves.

I think I'm going to move Satanas over to Drakara's stable and rename him Xerxes.

The golden and olive scales of his hide seem to be much better suited for Drakara's pet theme than with Synestra's. This will also open up some room among Syn's stable for any possible future pets :D

I tried taming the red serpent on Harakìri awhile back but it was too pretty for him. This thread brought me back around to serpents on my Draenei and I kind of ended up falling in love:

His name is Marley (found in the Wailing Caverns) ;D

Might as well get around to appreciating the only serpent I've been able to keep.

Image

This is my new baby. I knew as soon as I saw this new color that I'd be taming him, but I was a little frightened by news of their odd animations. I can't tolerate many pets because of animations, would I survive this?

It turns out, yes. I was a little put off in the beginning, but his absolutely shocking beauty cemented him into my stables. I've gotten used to his animations and I adore seeing him curl up when idle. He's living music, glowing and swirling, so of course I named him after my favorite classical composition, Pachelbel's Canon. Pachelbel will be sticking around for a long time.

This is really random but I just had to share that OH MY GOD Canon is my favourite piece of classical music as well!

He looks gorgeous with you. :)

I love serpents. Now only if they would add the large snakes and mana wyrms to this family :).

Also I have two serpents my self. One normal purple and one blue arcane.

Well, I hadn't been on in months, but I was curious about patch 5.1 so I logged on for what would probably be my last time for at least the foreseeable future, if not forever..... Anyway, there were some specific rares I was after: Acroniss (found dead), Sunwing (M.I.A.), Manas (M.I.A.), Bleakheart (M.I.A.) and Fidonis (M.I.A.). I did snag Quetzl in Winterspring while looking for Manas, but ended up letting it go as I prefer the original wind serpent models better.

Anyhoo, I wanted to see the new arcane serpents so I headed to Coldarra and got a purple one. I noticed the white ones flying above so I figured I'd grab one of those too to compare. It was annoying, to say the least. No matter where I was, I was always just out of range. Or, I'd use distracting shot and it would just sit there, I guess because it didn't have a path to me? I finally managed to find a spot where I could safely dismount and distracting shot while falling to tame it. I liked it immediately. :) Finding a name didn't take too long. I tamed it on the first day of winter, and I wanted a wintery name, so I named it Solstice (for the winter solstice of course). I love how they coil up, they look so elegant.

It's a shame I can't bring myself to pay $15 a month to play the game anymore when all that really draws me are pets. :( They do have a lot of neat things, it's just not enough anymore. But, at least I got to experience the "thrill of the tame" one last time. ^_^

I have to start off saying I am terribly sowwy I have not been updating these threads or starting threads for the new MoP families. I quit WoW a while back and haven't been keeping up with WoW or any pet news except the things I read on these fourms.

However, a friend of mine did give me a game card for a free month of WoW for Christmas, so I logged on for the first time in months and the only new pet I had to tame was this beautiful arcane serpent.

Image

I named him Heammawihio, a Cheyenne name meaning "wise one above." I've been wanting to use this name for a pet for a long while. It just took this long to find the perfect pet for this name.

He is definitely a wise one above. Flying up so high I fell to my death a few times and when I survived because disengage decided to work he evade bugged on me. I finally outwitted him when I tried the freezing trap at his spawn point tactic. Still, well played Heammawihio. Well played.

A rare visitor to this forum now that I don't play WoW anymore, but forever a Petopian.
