Gondria

Unread post by Firefrost »

Just saw Gondria in the wild.

And I killed her. Some of you may be mad, but there were no hunters around, and none of my guildies wanted him. ANd there were lots of Death Knights and mages and other people, so I figured, finder's keeper's hey?

Unfortunately due to my computer being unabel to take them, I cannot provide you with Screenshot, but I'll keep the claw in my bank as a reminder of my first wild spirit beast.

And not a minute too soon, the server just went down.

I can understand your anger, but it's better than what some hunetrs do, taming the beasts only to release them, or keep them in a stable without even naming them.

At least I got some benefit out of it.

Really? A benefit? 20g and a blue? Yes that seems so worth it... but eh
yes hunters tame pets and then release them later if they find another pet they want. We only have 5 stable slots and with all the pets you can tame out there, having only 5 slots is rough. Come Cata.. come faster...

Luckily we are getting lot more stable slots later on :D
I have killed a Spirit Beast before too :( Skoll
I will say this though! I spent 20 minutes asking my guild, our sister guild, and General chat seeing if ANY hunter wanted it. Not one responded, got on my friends account, made horde toon fast, /who Stormpeaks, saw no horde hunters, went back to my account, saw a mage land and start casting. I thought, hell, if someone is going to kill Skoll, it might as well be a hunter and not some mage

This is after I tamed him myself a few days before

It's one thing to maliciously spoil someone's tame by purposely killing the beast from under their noses, but just stumbling upon them in the wild with no one else around...*shrug* You're just as entitled as anyone else. In the end they're just another rare beast that's out there in the game. If you kill them they'll respawn. I don't think anyone should feel penalized or guilty for downing a rare mob when they encounter it. It's only if someone's a jerk about it that I'd frown.

Agreed, if you looked around and no one was there that wanted him, then finder's keepers. What you do with the rare is up to you, be it a tame or kill. Sure, someone could have come in the next five minutes looking to tame it, but how can you possibly know that? If it's someone that wants that creature bad enough, they'll camp it and get it eventually. You didn't do anything wrong. :)

Heck, I did that with Arcturis. Saw him, no one was around that wanted him, so I tamed him. After writing about it on here, while dead, I went back to my corpse, and rezzed to find a level 74 tauren hunter standing in that very spot. I assume he had been looking for Arcturis. How was I supposed to know? I abandoned Arcturis about two days later because I didn't like him very much. I felt a little bad, because that tauren might have really really wanted him, but I can't possibly know that. Know what I mean?

Eh, not a big deal. I just don't really see the point in coming here and saying that you did it.

I think his point was that he'd have liked to add it to the rares in the wild thread, I guess, but couldn't take the shot. Dunno. But, yeah, you looked for someone to tame it and didn't steal it from someone trying to tame it. If you hadn't looked or ESPECIALLY if you'd taken it from someone who wanted to tame it, I'd growl, but...
I personally don't think I could/would kill a spirit beast, but, having only ever seen one and tamed that one, I can't really say.

tbh it feels a bit like a troll thread. To much of one to boot. Especially since Firefrost still has that detestable sig message... but I digress.

Translation: Firefrost: Hey guys so I saw Gondria in the wild and instead of just leaving her there to be up when servers came up incase a hunter wanted her, I killed her because why not, no one on line right this instant wanted her! And I don't care if you're all mad at me olol.

That's what it feels like.

You don't need to kill it to remember it.

You don't need a screen shot to remember it.

This sounds like a big excuse to kill it.

He was well within his rights to kill it, Ryai. Gondria IS a rare, and does drop pretty good stuff. That being said, why would you even bother taking a screen shot, dead or alive? It really feel's kind of like a taunt to me. I don't understand the reasoning behind coming here and saying "I killed Gondria, to bad if you don't like it." If it'd been, I dunno, like an apology for anyone on his realm, that might be different.

*Small Edit: Didn't think about the pet's in the wild thing. Still though, why not post it over in that thread anyway......

Meh, you should've just left her. If no one saw it, no one saw it and if someone else killed you your out... what? 10g and a crappy blue?

But I have no real say, because I don't like Gondria's old model and name. But it was still kinda uneeded to kill her just cause she was there.

Not saying it isn't, but if you're going to ask people, why bother killing it? That's just what rubs me the wrong way. It's mostly from my own misses at tames as Aria found bird one day I had failed to find Aotona; had asked in general if anyone wanted to tame it when I wasn't coming back as I'd gone to take a nap. A nelf comes along. Aria tries to /wait /plead

Nelf kills it.

So I'm not saying it from a NO U CAN NOT KEEL RARES RARES BELONG TO HUNTERS nerdrage; it's more, I know how much it STINGS to MISS a rare by 15 minutes.

15.

FIFTEEN. urg.

That's why I said it feels like a taunt/troll post. I mean yeah I've killed some rares/rare elites/etc that are tameable. Haven't done it in a while but the point is I have- I'm neither ashamed nor proud of it, as what's done is done.

But I don't go onto the forums crowing about it like it's the latest news that must be learned about by my fellow hunters.

That is also what rubs me wrong about this post. I mean it feels only slightly different than that troll warlock we got killing Krush out of Well since I can't have it none of you can have it nyah nyah nyah.

I have to agree. I cant realy see any reason to post this. And I got the same translation, almost as if daring us to say something. Did they do something wrong by killing it? NO. But why logicly would you friggen tell us this?

No, it was not a troll. You are right in saying I don't really care if you are mad, but I was posting it cause I felt that even though I killed it, it was a sort of achieve for seeing my first wild SB.

But, hey, jump to your own conclusions.

And, actually, I did ask my guild since there were no hunters on. There were, however, lots of death knights and such, so if I hadn't they would have.

I used to call out to random hunters online to ask if they might want a spirit beast etc.. after about 10 occasions of doing that I just felt like a tard & a spammer. So I give it a good few minutes waiting and sometimes I kill it & loot. Depending on the loot it might drop.

Although.. I would never ever ever kill a rare like cliff jumper, humar, araga, aotona - pets that can be tamed by any spec, just the 'exotics'.

I wouldn't come to this board and tell you when I did though. It's kind of an act of shame sweetened by the nice loot for me :|

It felt less like; HEY GUYS I FINALLY SAW A SPIRIT BEAST IN THE WILD! :DDD and more like so guys you know Gondria well I saw her and killed her and tbh I don't care what you guys really think.

I mean there was no excitement in your post, none at all. You go from; I saw Gondria in the wild.

To; I killed her. In 2 seconds of reading. You just need to learn to phase things better.

I mean do we need to know you killed her? Or even with that sort of tone?

I mean there is a big difference of your indifference than someone who was excited about seeing a rare. IE;

What you did compared to; Hey guys, I finally saw an SB in the wild. I asked around and in my guild but no one was around to tame her. So instead of just letting her go to waste, I killed her. Now I know this might upset some of you guys and I'm sorry for it, but I didn't steal her from another hunter or anything.

It felt like you were crowing over the fact you killed her, instead of the fact you ran into an SB at all.
