EDIT: Taming Buff Pets in 5.1 FIXED

Now I know it's not technically an appearance buff, but anyone else think it would be slightly funny if not cruel to tame Nahassa with it's "dying" buff? Not sure if it would do anything other than keep the buff, but it would be funny if it caused the pet to lay on it's back permanently in idle position... or maybe it would keep it's hallucanigenic bite.... Just thinking out loud.... ^^;

I'm starting to think, that perhaps you had to have done most if not all of the quests in the jade forrest for those cranes to show up, cause since the first I'd been checking for them & haven't seen them at all, and I haven't done every single quest in the jade forrest. Why would the quest hubs not be at least once for jade serpent grounds in the past ten days?

I've done 0 quests in Jade Forest on my hunter, cranes definitely show up.

90 ally hunter/ 70 horde pally reporting for duty! I love helping people macro tame their dream pets so feel free to pm me. I am willing to help with low level cross faction tames- including the pig, on my pally. I am happy to help both factions but please keep in mind that you will need a horde friend to invite me for flaming pigs if you are ally and if you are horde asking for an 70+ pet you will need to have a 90 ally friend invite my hunter to your realm.

Can anyone tell me for sure if the sha-touched cats keep or lose their buff upon death? I have seen mixed reports on it and I know there are two different tigers with the buff that could skew the results.

You should be able to. (Although I have not tried to recently.)

Troubleshooting:
Are you dueling with a friend as you try to tame? (You must be in a duel for the tame to work.)
Are you spamming the revive pet macro like crazy just before the tame is finished?
Is your friend the one throwing the torches for you? (Not a "must do" but it is recommended)
Does your friend have Quartz and is s/he one-shotting the mob as close to the 0.3 mark as possible?
Is your friend lag-free?

If the answer to all of those things is yes- then you are probably just having issues with the timing. Sometimes people get it in the first few minutes but more often than not it takes hours. I don’t see why the flame big would not be working- I know the other old world pets can still be tamed. It’s probably just a matter of luck and timing.

Thanks for quick reply. Apparently dueling in mulgore is not allowed for some reason, so it is not possible for me to follow instructions on page 1. Would it still work if my friend killed the boar in 0.2 secs left into tame beast? Thanks in advance.

I am throwing the torch and with my tame beast glyph, without any armor on me, I have exact 6 seconds cast time. Yes he is using quartz and he killed one with 0.2 secs left, one with 0.3 secs left then gave up. I decided to keep going, hoping that torch kill would help me somewhat. It's just exhausting to spend 2 hours without some sort of improvement. But I guess improvement would mean taming succesfully

Ouch, can’t duel? That has to be a problem. Amber probably has a good idea about how to get around that issue if she has been taming them recently. Asking her how she got around the problem would be a good idea.
You could possibly flag yourself and have the opposing faction come and kill it and see if that helps. o.- being unable to duel is probably what is making this extra hard on you.

I'm not really "getting around" the issue, I'm just helping with opposing faction characters for the boar. Find a friend and flag up! There's no difference between flagging and dueling as far as this taming method goes.
