So I'm in BFD with Bayne on my undead hunter leveling. Suddenly I notice my pet isn't with me.

Sure he wasn't stabled? or maybe you accidentely released him? Anyhow, open a ticket to see about getting your pet returned to you.

seems like it was just a very odd glitch...
wait...I seem to recall having that glitch awhile ago, i thought it got fixed, where a pet would die or otherwise disappear and trying to call it again gave that error...logging out/in usually fixed it.
Either way, I would report the situation under the bug report, if others are experiencing this, then the more reports they get, the better the chance to pinpoint the cause.

next time try to use /cast call pet 1(depends on which pet you want 1-5) or use /cast call pet <pet name> emote. There is a glitch where summoning a pet sometimes after death, or dismiss or an instance or logout would make the list of active pets you have not displayed properly.

Pets have been glitchy lately. Like sometimes mine would gain the name of another because of stampede.

It's got so bad that my pets bugged out. I couldn't see who I had and couldn't summon them normally.

I also encountered this glitch last night, but in Vashj'ir. I was going from the Shimmering Expanse to the Abyssal Depths and, since they're technically different zones, it's a different CRZ. While passing the zone border, my Water Strider vanished. I tried to resummon it, but apparently it had died somehow...very strange.
