It just struck me that, back during the Panda Beta days, when I tamed a Quilen, he sat from time to time while at my side. I suspect it was part of his animation at the time. The majority of Quilen start in a seated position prior to aggro.
I wondered, why don't they sit anymore? Then I got to thinking... why don't any of our pets have a sitting animation. Non-flight pets have sitting animations, bears, cats, wolves. Even flight pets have resting animations (based on eagles nesting and my druid's flight form being able to perch). I wonder if it's just extra animation that's sacrificed for the sake of performance?
Then I started brain storming. If non-flight based pets "could" sit, perhaps when we typed /sit or maybe /petsit, what would flight based pets do. They have the animation pre-tame. I thought, parrot stand. Birds could perch on a parrot stand that appeared under them, about 3/4's as high as the hunter! If we're idle, waiting for a set up, or sitting by the bank or auction house, instead of dismissing pets, we could command them to /sit. Even if it were a "power" under the tab.
I'm just brain storming/thinking out loud of course. Snakes, Silithids, and Cloud Serpents couldn't do this of course, which would be a bummer. And Dino's wouldn't be able to either since they never sit. But for our old stand-by's, the bird, the wolf, the cat and the bear, wouldn't that be interesting!
