Challenge: raiding engineer leather set

Unread post by Slickrock »

So, to do something new, I'm gonna roll an agi leather wearer, either monk, rogue, or Druid. At least for leveling purposes, he/she will be an engineer miner.

So what I'm looking for is an engineering look raiding leather set, that doesn't look like I just crawled out of the workshop, but instead looks like an engineer that's ready to rock and blast some heads.

I know there are plenty of weapons to choose from, but the only tier set I can think of is the Mage time lord set, which is of course sadly cloth. But that's the kind of look that I'm after. Finding a good set of shoulders to start with would help a lot.

Any ideas?

Engi-leather, huh? Yeah, this might get a bit tricky. I'd suggest going with engi-googles and a steampunk-ish/metal looking set.

Blues/purples:
Brazen Trespass Armor http://www.wowhead.com/transmog-set=1311 <-nice shoulders here, my 1st shot for this theme
Cadaverous Garb http://www.wowhead.com/transmog-set=888 (punky! but no shoulders)
Nightslayer Armor http://www.wowhead.com/transmog-set=619 (strange shoulders, but I guess engi is strange, too... in a good way :D )

Greens:
Stormshroud Armor http://www.wowhead.com/transmog-set=895
Discovery Armor http://www.wowhead.com/transmog-set=1078
Dementia Garb http://www.wowhead.com/transmog-set=1355
Wicked Leather Armor http://www.wowhead.com/transmog-set=1154
Smoking Pit Armor http://www.wowhead.com/transmog-set=1067
Grizzly Garb (just chest+pants) http://www.wowhead.com/transmog-set=109

I'd love to see how would Grizzly garb look mixed with Brazen, for example, but I can't view 3d character models for some reason :/

Hmmm.. Thanks for the tips!!!

There are some really nice leg/chest combos there, looks like shoulders might be the biggest challenge.

Kinda liking that Wicked Leather set on a draenei female. I will have to see if I can find shoulders that have a bit more oomph.

I just did a set of FBS (Front / Back / Side) pics for a Wicked Leather variant I put together a couple weeks or so ago. I posted them on Petopia HERE if you want to review it. In a nutshell, I chose Demonic Runed Spaulders for the shoulders and Heraldic Belt for the belt because I didn't like the other choices. The Demonic Runed Spaulders are basically a double layered version of the Taut Dragonhide Shoulderpads of the same color, and I don't know if that'll give them a little more of the "oomph" you're looking for.

Anyways, here's a couple of ideas I've come up with so far that involve using a couple Engineering goggles. Both are mostly stock sets, but I like the goggles that can fit with them:

Supreme Leather Set. The goggles are int based, so it's likely out for Rogues. But it should be open to Monks and Druids. It may also be too "revealing" depending on the out of shop you're looking for.

Darkmantle Set (Replica) These goggles are agility based, so all three leather classes should be able to use them.

It looks great except for the fact that the color of the buckles from the Grizzly pieces don't match the color of the buckles on the other pieces. Otherwise, it would be near perfect and better than what I currently have for it.

That could do it! Thanks!
