Throne of Thunder beasts to check!

Unread post by Wain »

With Throne of Thunder there's an enticing new range of beasts to check that we didn't get a chance to on the PTR.

Two sections are now out in LFR, the new one even has three beast bosses. While I don't expect any of them to be tameable (they are Boss level after all), there are also other things to check. Also, a number of things I'm going to list would be untameable due to level anyway, but it would still be great to know if they're flagged tameable, for the future.

Please post if you have any info to add or correct. Thank you :)

Of the following, I can say these are untameable:
Pythons, Wearbear, Caven Burrower (Was excited when I noticed it was a beast, even if it is level 92. Sadly, cannot be tamed), bow fly swarm (it actually is a single mob too! D:!), and although unlisted, Gastropod.

Curiously enough a hunter in my raid piped up with a laugh that his Beast Lore had pulled up a tameable for Tortos, though I have no idea if it's true as I was on my pally and am, ah, 'unwilling' to attempt the second half again for a while as it took about 3 hours...

Thanks Tsuki. That's a great start :) I've updated with your details.

If anyone notes additional colours of creatures I'd appreciate those too. Thanks :)

And Dialga: that would be exciting if true. At least we could look forward to taming him next expansion if they don't add a rare in this one.

Oh, I finally understood what you meant. The entire swarm of tiny Bow Flies is just one mob. I've removed them from the list entirely since they're not a proper beast.

Confirmed by Spiritbinder: Tortos NOT flagged tameable. Nor are Whirl Turtles, Greater Cave Bats, either of the Vampiric Cave Bats, Shale Stalkers.

Well, the swarm is marked as a beast, and I can see it as possibly some sort of rare in the future.
I'd so tame that and just name it BEES.
just. Bees.
yes.

Hehe. You'd be like the queen bee. I could see it as a possibility, but I've removed it for now simply to make things easier, because the model makes it less likely and won't fit into Petopia's existing categories for wasps. If it was flagged tameable that'd be a different matter.

I've left the birds up there because I'm still curious if any are flagged. Unless any are I won't bother adding them to Petopia at all at this stage. I wouldn't even know whether to call them birds of prey or carrion birds. Though from their ecology and behaviour I'd guess they should be the latter.

Nest Guardians are only in heroic to answer your question about why they are not in lfr....

the born worms aren't tamable. I checked yesterday as did all are hunters.

The birds aren't either. I was on add duty yesterday and I check all the different types of babies.

I also hadn't listed the Fledgling, which is the second stage after the eggs hatch in the Ji-Kun fight and looks like the raven mount in shape, but in Ji-Kun's colours. Oddly Wowhead doesn't list its location, which is how I missed it, but I'm pretty sure it'll be: http://www.wowhead.com/npc=68193 .

Great! Thanks Qinni.

I haven't marked off the Nest Guardian, unless you were already doing Ji-Kun on heroic! But it's an almost certainty it wouldn't be flagged tameable at this stage.

Did you check the Corpse Spiders as well? Since they're in the same area as the Bore Worms I would guess someone did.

Oh and I just ran normal ToT with my guild and I noticed that the Sul'lithuz Stonegazers sometimes spawn with purple crests.

Thanks! I remembered them being multiple colours but wasn't sure which. I'm also not sure if the bears come in multiple colours.

Thanks for everyone's input on these!

I'll log additions for all of them, even though none are tameable that we tested. Just a few comments:

- Nobody has mentioned the Corpse Spider yet. I assume it's not tameable though. If nobody gets to it first maybe I can test it tonight. My hunter is finally up to that raid.
- Nobody has mentioned the "Nest Guardian" but if it's Heroic-only then that's no big surprise. I will assume for now that it's untameable like the rest. Actually, it won't matter as I won't include these birds until/unless we find out what they'd be classified as
- Does anyone know how to determine a boss's true level?
