Thank you and yep already working on a list, I'm a bit paranoid all the way around when it comes to medical stuff.

Convinced my mother to let me get birth control (not that I couldn't without her permission, I'd just prefer her to pay for it), so yay!

On another note, carpal tunnel is bad for masturbation. Right about to get off? Nope have your hand give up on life.

So I got my IUD out and switched to the pill because of a lot of pain and irritation I have been having for a while when having sex. I also just recently got my braces off and have been going to the dentist like once a week (or more) for the retainer, it didn't fit the 1st few times so I had to go back. I had been noticing that my face was getting more and more sensitive and red afterwords. The last time I went my face got super puffy, red, and itchy, I also threw up a few times. Turns out I have an allergy to latex that was mild then turned into "touch me again and I could stop breathing" thing, they almost call an ambulance on me. Explains the the sex issue and why the natural soaps I have been trying have been worse that the synthetic ones. I also found out you can get yeast infections and bladder infections by using irritating soaps and washes. Hope that last part helps someone else out, took my doctor while to figure it out.

Sounds like a lot of pain and hassle, I'm glad you've got it sorted out. I've had a single yeast infection in my entire life, and it was hell. No idea what exactly caused it. I use soaps intended for intim washes, though. ^^

Can I be that one person that awkwardly asks how often you girls have sex? Assuming you have partners, that is. It's just that me and my fiance only see each other for a week or so every few months, since we both have uni and live a few hours from each other. We'll be living together starting in August though. But the point is... Even though we don't see each other much, we don't have sex very often either. Now I know sex isn't everything but the other day one of my male friends joked about how we'd be having sex all the time and I pointed out that a relationship isn't just about sex, but he said that if he was away from his girlfriend for that long, he'd be having sex with her every chance he got. That kinda put me down a little, especially since last time we saw each other there was barely any sex at all. A bit of oral and touching but otherwise we didn't do much.

If anything, it's my problem though, not his. I just... don't get very horny very often. I'm on the pill but as far as I know that's not meant to affect you in that way. I just feel a little bit down about it because I feel like there should be more sex involved. Sure, it's completely possible to have a healthy and strong relationship without any sex at all, but it's one of the main parts of a relationship if you ask me. We've been together for over three years now, by the way. It's not awkward or anything, in fact we're naked together all the time. It's kinda hard to explain. :/

Oh, any form of contraceptives containing additional hormones can affect your sex life, be it good or bad. If you feel like you're drying up, or lacking sex drive, it's not uncommon. Happened to me, and I'm sure it has happened to a lot of other people aswell, but not everyone is aware of the cause.

There is no written rules or guidelines for how often a couple should have sex. It's entirely up to you. Maybe you'll find yourself sexually incompatible, that one has a higher drive than the other, but it's possible to compromise. And yes, while sex is a big part of a healthy relationship, it's not the foundation of it, or at least it shouldn't be.

May I ask how long you've been together? How old you are, etc? If you're having a long-distance relationship, where you don't end up constantly having sex when you meet, it's quite possible it won't change much when you move in together. Sure, there might very well be an increase, but not necessarily all the time.

Hrm, I didn't know that. It could very well be that the pill is affecting me but I've been using it for around six years now. >___<

I'm 20, nearly 21. He's 22. We're trying to find ways to help each other get into it a little more, but it's difficult when you can't be together all the time.

Even if it's a common side effect, it can make it's appearance after a while, I think. The body change, as you age, and 6 years is a long time. You'd have probably just entered your teens, and puberty, when starting up on it. Early puberty is something special, hehe.

Which brand are you using? I've got experience with two different pills, and Implanon. You didn't mention when you got together, though.

I did, in my first post I said we'd been together for over three years. :P Three years and almost two months to be exact. I use Microgynon though.

Ah! See, that's how much information I'm able to absorb at once xD Sorry :P

That's a very long time. Microgynon was my first brand. Used it since I was 16 untill.. *stares up at ceiling* 2.5 years ago... no.. I'm bad at remembering years. Between 16 and almost 22 is 5.5 years.

Okay, so. Microgynon from 16-18+, Loette from there on for half a year, mayhaps, and Implanon for 1.5 years.

I do apologize for the mess, I had to think. :P

Edit: As far as Microgynon goes, common side effects are the usual; weight gain, nausea, headaches, moodswings and tender breasts, etc.. Less common ones are decrease in libido, and rarer ones are an increase in libido.

I'm not sure I gained so much weight on them, but my sex drive eventually dropped. I've always had a lot of headaches, so I can't tell for sure if that was made worse. My period stayed regular, and I could postpone and control that as I wished.

Bah well I looked it up. Apparently it's quite common for Microgynon to cause a loss in libido. That might be the case. Now would be a bad time for me to change contraception, but I'll talk to my doctor about it in a couple of months. It's sad though because I've never had problems with my weight and depression and all that other crap that the pill can do to you.

You could, if you only use the pills as contraceptives, ask your doctor to let you try a different brand with lower levels of hormones. Microgynon contains a lot, if I remember correctly. Changing contraceptives isn't a long or tough process - usually you just finish the current months worth of pills, have your period and start anew with a different brand. Mercilon is supposed to be good, along with Cerazette. I don't know which ones are available to you.

I'll call soon and ask. (: I can't believe I've been taking this crap for like six years or so and haven't thought that maybe it was the problem all along. -___-

When you have nothing else to compare to, it's very easy to think that everything is functioning normally. Or you could just have a generally low sex drive, that's far from uncommon either. Try and talk to your doctor, see what he/she says. I'm sure it will work out for you eventually. :)

People have also found their sex drive varies throughout the month, too. Stress and life can affect it as well. I've used Mircette and uh, the one where you only have a period every 3 months. Mircette is a nice, low dose one.

That is also true. Generally, while on birthcontrol, I've found that my sex drive has been the highest right before my period, and during.

Digging up this thread to vent in because I need to.

Got my "friend" yesterday, and today I've been bleeding so much that I'm really getting dizzy and nauseated. I'm anemic so I often feel a bit light headed during these weeks, but this is the worst I've had it for a long time. I might have to head home early from work because these invoices are just swimming in front of me even while sitting down.
